Utterly Academic
The Royal Magic Academy. The institution is renowned as a place of dignity, tradition, and learning. It’s home to some of the greatest magical minds in the world, working together to shape the next generation of wizards. Most of the students are nobles, or even of royal blood, still young but destined for great things.
There is so much more to this school than its reputation, though. In fact, its reputation hardly seemed warranted at all! Certainly, its headmistress is not possessed of any dignity, and the students seem far more interested in bickering with each other than learning about magic. The place even rests on a tropical island, resulting in it looking more like some stunning resort than the dour institution it tries to present itself as to the world.
In spite of all of that, though, one aspect of the academy remains true. It is the greatest accumulation of magical knowledge in the land. However, gaining access to that magical knowledge requires one to meet certain criteria. Determined to find a way to return to her true self, Kix won’t let anything stand in her way, even if it means having to enroll at the academy as a student. Will she be able to find the answers she seeks with perverted headmistresses, bumbling oafs, and pompous princesses constantly underfoot? And more importantly, will she be able to avoid getting expelled long enough to do so?

Very different.
I'm sure I would give this higher stars if I read the first 3 books. But I didn't. I won this one. So, I gave it go. And then beginning didn't seem like I missed much and the book itself was run, but the end was odd and not really leading me to wish there was more.
