I have such mixed emotions about this one. Bits and pieces of it are really good but it’s SO hard to keep going when the main characters are so hard to like 😭 they keep getting worse and worse and making insufferable decisions. I obviously will finish the last book because the storyline is amazing just like all the other Hidden Legends books but dang Charlie and Ava get on my freaking nerves!!!

I do really love these books, but I do feel that this one felt really long and then to get to book five and realise that book six isn't realised yet and doesn't have a release date 😒

This storyline was just like Hidden Legends, it was soooo world war 2 coded and it gave me all the feels!!! I was angry, furious, in pain, sad, in love, betrayed, confused, mindblown, surprised, thrilled, extatisch and over the moon
They have been on the run for 2 weeks. Kallie made an illusion of a cabin. They have tried to survive by making solid illusions, but kallie urges Charlie to move forward, because Ava and Marcus are in need of their medication, ava needs painkillers, lithium and birth control and marcus needs antidepressants for his suicidal thoughts and depression. They need Marcus to finish the anti tracking potion so the warden, who stole their demigod powers and is using inferichte to make a demigod army!!! OMFG!!!! I ALREADY LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH
Kallie convinced Marcus to portrail to Malovia to steal ingredients and medicine at the black market. They are caught. Ofcourse they could kill the shifter, but he held a knife against Kallie's throat and they can't leave any traces, so they make a trade. One wyvern scale from Oberi for a clean getaway. But ofcourse he didn't heldhis end to the bargain and that same night, after marcus and Ava got their medication, they were ambushed my the Mission: esther, Deuce, Mad dog and Naya, aka the asswhole team from the Darke Games and all their unfortunate encounters. But they are stonget than before, cause the Warden changed them into Demigods!!!! And only the strongest survive the transition!!! It's total madness, Esther, Angel, can take their life force, Mad dog can compel them, Deuce can put their powers against them and Naya can block their powers!!! It's a fight to the death cause They can't fight back and Kallie used her time powers in vain cause now they know her secret!!! Ava uses all her power to create a spirit shield out of nowhere
And that was their safe, because suddenly an Elven came through a portal to their rescue
That Elve is non other than Eddie!!! The emperor Guard and Charlie's savior/ friend!!! He apparently survived and escaped the West Facility concentration Camp!!!! He was being starved, tortured and laboured, they even took his right eye!!! He portaled through mirrors and ava's shield served as a reflection and because those fuckers blocked their powers, Kallie's wards were done so Eddie was able to finally find them.
During a transfer to the Main Facility, he and a few other elves used conversion power to create a massive explosion killing all the angel guards but also Elves, the few remaining scattered so they wouldn't be followed until Eddie was taken to the new city:
a sorceress from Malovia aka QUEEN EMMA!!!! took an abandoned Elven city from the fae realm of Edinmyre— a settlement named Ithriel— and moved it through a portal to this island, literally through space and time. Then the Elves rebuilt the ruins of Ithriel and filled in the gaps with magic. Besides the old structures, the city is created out of illusions that are solid. The Elves can’t do that, so the fae stepped in to lend a hand. Once the rebuild was complete, the Elves renamed the city Ilamanthe.” city of new light
The Fae genocided the Elves during the great supernatural war so this was a peace offering under the rule of Kallie's brother!!!!
And not only Eddie survived, all their friends did to!!! Alistair, ezra, opal, chancey and Ivy, they escaped by stealing the Submarine bus when Ava caused the explosion what burned the Institute, after the warden set it on fire, so it was their bus who collided with the fence. Their way to freedom!!!
All their parents are also in Ilamanthe OMG THE BEST REUNION IN THE HISTORY OF REUNIONS!!!!
Kinpago and Octivia have fall and surrendered to the Warden. Liam and the other chiefs and warlocks evacuated almost everyone to this sanctuary. But many followed the Warden and joind The Mission. The warden took the war prisoners to The Main Facility, an even more dangerous place that was in the making on the other side of the country, The West was only a holding place
Family reunion!!! I was soooo happy and glad to read about the family reunion cause they are my fav character of other series!!!!

Everyone is planning their next step, We have five Divinity Keys now; the elemental, witch, fae, angel, and merfolk key. If we can find the vampire and Astromancer key, we can open that gate and put a stop to this. Not to mention if the Elves die out, all magic will as well, because the Elves are the original supernaturals and the magical world’s connection to the Blessed Haven. So I’ll lead the Elves to paradise, and perhaps then the war will be over.”
“The war’s never going to be over, not until we stop the Warden,” I said. “Even if we open that gate, he’s dead set on starting a war between the gods, so he can rule over the afterlife and life on Earth both.”
He’s set the dark gods from hell loose,” Kallie said. “He plans on overwhelming the gods in the Blessed Haven, then once they’re taken care of, he’ll be making the rules.”
These dark gods are lesser deities that aren’t as strong as the rulers in the Blessed Haven, but they outnumber them,” Cassiel said. “That’s where the threat lies. They were previously contained in the Eternal Torment, but now that the Warden has set them loose,They were banished to hell because they were weak, and unable to accumulate followers to worship them like the other gods did. they’ve become a threat.”
Summary of the gods: the Hawkei god is the Great Spirit, who in our culture is above all beings. The Great Spirit split into hundreds of other Hawkei gods, such as Coyote Spirit and Whale Spirit.
Mother Miriam is the goddess of the Miriamic Coven, alongside her husband Santos, and the Seven Gods are the deities of the fae pantheon,” Marcus said.
“The vampiric god is a high-level entity named Uraeus,” Ivy explained. “You can’t get into his lore without learning about the angel deity, the Almighty One.”
Chancey nodded. “The king of heaven, surrounded by all his archangels. His brother, Uraeus, used to be a god as well, but he got kicked out of the afterlife after he tried to overthrow the Almighty One.”
The merfolk worship an ancient pantheon called the Twelve Titans, but since the merfolk have joined the Warden, we don’t know if they’ll be of any help, because the merfolk have turned against their gods in favor of following The Mission,” Cassiel said.
There are the shinrei of the Astromancer culture. They are spirits, divinities and forces of nature that possess both positive and negative qualities, who love and destroy in equal measure.
Professor Takahashi is full Astromancer, but he and professor Hemlock, their mentors and trainers, her vanished!! They are probably captured after the warden set the institute on fire
The gods are having trouble reaching across the spiritual plane to communicate with us. Coyote Spirit told me so, before I left Cellblock 9,” Ava said.

They meet Danny, vampire who can compel and knows someones desires. He could be a strong alley. They fight him in the training room and instantly lose, cause they don't work togehter. Their new trainers is Amber from Kinpago and Wykoff from the miramic.
Ava gets a lady in waiting: a half Elve, angel Abigail, but she is also Esthers half sister!!! Esther was jealous of Abigail and plucked her wings during a fight, so she is in a wheelchair too. She could give information about Esther's weaknesses. Charlie learns how to travel through portals and meets his stepmother, his fathers guard!!!
Kallie talks about her concerns about the dollmaker, aka her ex boyfriend who compelled her to kill her brother.
They have demigo training and Charlie showed Ava their new Sex dungeon. Charlie says they need to use enchanted guns to shoot their magic faster. Ava still has trauma but eventually agrees because they are now a criminal mafia family who need to protect each other and to kill the warden.
Amber and Wykoff put them in a trance to connect with their past selves to discover the whereabouts of the key:
“Soleil, you don’t understand,” I insisted harshly in Hawkei. “This key— it can be used to cure the tribe of our problems. The Houses are already becoming divided. We can use the key to unite them again.”
“Our ancestors have made it clear. The key must be hidden within the depths of this waterfall, so that a new Toaqua chief may find it, and bring it to the ones who will use it for good,” he insisted.
“This is a risk. There is already talk of separating the Houses. If sides are taken and lines are drawn, our marriage is at stake, Soleil! Fire and Water will not be permitted to be together!”
We’re minai, ones who share a soul, and we are connected through one Familiar. This key has been given to us because of that gift, and it is our responsibility. We have to give up our lives, if we must, to keep it hidden from our enemies.”
“The prophet has seen what will happen to the tribe if we don’t use the key’s power to bring them together. The Houses will go to war, and our future Elders will sacrifice our children in a trial, so they can prove themselves worthy. We can’t allow that to happen!” I hissed.
“What will happen if that key isn’t hidden is even worse,” he insisted. “Trust me, Illari.”
I trusted him with my life. Though I wasn’t sure if he knew of the consequences this would bring.

Magic exploded ahead of us on the road.
Frank jumped out of the moving vehicle with the box and managed to roll safely to the side of the road, but Lawrence and I didn’t make it in time. The battle orb collided with the engine, and the car exploded.
When they awaken their plan is to seek the vault in the bank
But first they meet with Maddie who tells Ava agin about the prophecy, but Ava is determined to save the world, it's up to Charlie now:
what are you going to do if Maddie is right? Said Oberi. If there’s an emergency and we have to subdue Ava, we need to do it safely, so none of us get hurt. We should have some sort of plan we can execute together, just in case things don’t go our way.
“Fuck the plan,” I said shortly. “It’s not going to happen, and if it does, I’ll deal with it myself.”
Don’t go making prophecies of your own, Oberi warned. You aren’t aware of how they might go. Charlie still ignores them.
Time to rob a bank!!! against the rules, the gang plans to rob the vault to obtain the vampire key because Esther and het gang is already in Paris!!!

They first need a cover, some random employee and then it's game time
But everything went wrong!!! Marcus couldn't tell the name of the wife so their cover was blown!!! Thwy are found by the Super natural guards and the warden put a bounty on their heads
They try to convince Charlie to turn themselves in to safe his family but he knows they will get hand over to the warden and then it is game over!!! So they use the guns and keep people hostage!!! Eventually Kallie tries to broke the vault with her magic but it is no use
Charlie changed into a dragon and killed someone, a woman surrenders and opens the vault
But the vault is empty!!!! Omg where did that stupid key go?!! At that moment charlie gets a call from Esther!!!
But she demands the keys or else every hostage will go to the camps!!!
So that means she doesn't have the key?!
Who is the mole who ratted them out, how did Esther even knew about the bank!!!
They make their escape with Ava's new red sports car. They are on the loose and followed by the Union!!! But Orberi sees a sky scraper with a reflection
They portal through and Charlie kicks the police back into the portal and crashed the mirror so they are stuck
Sometimes you have to make your hands dirty to safe your family
Charlie and Ava have sex in her car and her MOTHER knocked on the window!!!! Talk about mortified
The funnest scene ever, the parents all are furious but the kids are like

Everyone is there except Charlie's father, instead, Cassiel came to not chastise him but rather give him advice!!!!

He told Charlie he had to leave the mission over to the associates, his new team cause they are way to important for the Elves. Chalrie is the Elven prince and heir to the throne and Ava is to be their Queen and mother of the spiritual realm
But ofcourse the rest don't listen and make a plan to timetravel!!! OMG I LOVEEEE IT
Kallie's abilities are in jeopardy because of the bond with marcus and their limbo situation
But Danny helps them out
They travel back to 1920 to steal the key from Frank so he will place a fake one in the vault
But Danny INFORMED frank about their plan!!! He freaking changed the timeline!!!!
Frank however believes them and gives them the key
But Orberi can't get the key through the portal because he is the only one who can touch anything in an other time
So they make a new plan back in the training room during the present
They go to the vault to rob it agian but this time Danny will complet 2 employees to open it, clean and easy
And they succeeed but the key is lost!!! Again!!!
But now the timeline has changed 2 times
They ask Chancey for help by getting him into a trance to see his past live through Franks eyes.
In the original timeline, Frank made it to the bank and put the key in the vault. Masci’s men (Masci is the ancestor of The Warden!!!!) found him after he left the bank, without any clue where he’d gone with the key. The key remained in the vault for the next hundred-and-twenty years until someone was tipped off the night before we went in for the robbery. We don’t know who stole it— it could’ve been anyone.”
“Yes, but things changed after we talked to Frank,” Kallie said.
“The second time around, we delayed Frank a few minutes by talking to him. Masci’s men caught up, and saw him put the key in the vault,” I mused. “Then they stole it, before hunting him down to kill him at the vampire bar.”
“That lines up with what I saw,” Chancey confirmed.
“So we’re in a new timeline now,” I said. “One where the key has been in the hands of the angels all this time.”
“It makes sense that Masci wouldn’t have given the key to the Warden,” Kallie pointed out. “The Warden killed his father. They weren’t on good terms.”
“That doesn’t mean the Warden won’t find it among the other angels,” I said. “Masci must’ve given it to someone before he died. The Warden is closer to the key than ever before because of what we changed
“I’ll put the Elvish Associates on gathering intel about Masci Taurus and his people,” I offered. “They can find out who was working for him at the time, and who might’ve been involved
Ava has a ceremony to be accepted by the gods. She receives a vision what is happening now in the Blessed Heaves: monsters, dark gods and devils at war with all the gods of the supernatural world, the Hawkei gods, Mother Miriam the witch, the merfolk gods, the Fae gods... every god is fighting to keep the darkgods at bay. They came through the black portal made by the Warden
If they lose the war that means the end of all magic, of earth and all of the supernatural world!!!!!

When they awaken their plan is to seek the vault in the bank
But first they meet with Maddie who tells Ava agin about the prophecy, but Ava is determined to save the world, it's up to Charlie now:
what are you going to do if Maddie is right? Said Oberi. If there’s an emergency and we have to subdue Ava, we need to do it safely, so none of us get hurt. We should have some sort of plan we can execute together, just in case things don’t go our way.

They first need a cover, some random employee and then it's game time
But everything went wrong!!! Marcus couldn't tell the name of the wife so their cover was blown!!! Thwy are found by the Super natural guards and the warden put a bounty on their heads
They try to convince Charlie to turn themselves in to safe his family but he knows they will get hand over to the warden and then it is game over!!! So they use the guns and keep people hostage!!! Eventually Kallie tries to broke the vault with her magic but it is no use
Charlie changed into a dragon and killed someone, a woman surrenders and opens the vault
But the vault is empty!!!! Omg where did that stupid key go?!! At that moment charlie gets a call from Esther!!!
But she demands the keys or else every hostage will go to the camps!!!
So that means she doesn't have the key?!
Who is the mole who ratted them out, how did Esther even knew about the bank!!!
They make their escape with Ava's new red sports car. They are on the loose and followed by the Union!!! But Orberi sees a sky scraper with a reflection
They portal through and Charlie kicks the police back into the portal and crashed the mirror so they are stuck

Kallie's abilities are in jeopardy because of the bond with marcus and their limbo situation
But Danny helps them out
They travel back to 1920 to steal the key from Frank so he will place a fake one in the vault
But Danny INFORMED frank about their plan!!! He freaking changed the timeline!!!!
Frank however believes them and gives them the key
But Orberi can't get the key through the portal because he is the only one who can touch anything in an other time
So they make a new plan back in the training room during the present
They go to the vault to rob it agian but this time Danny will complet 2 employees to open it, clean and easy
And they succeeed but the key is lost!!! Again!!!
But now the timeline has changed 2 times
They ask Chancey for help by getting him into a trance to see his past live through Franks eyes.
In the original timeline, Frank made it to the bank and put the key in the vault. Masci’s men (Masci is the ancestor of The Warden!!!!) found him after he left the bank, without any clue where he’d gone with the key. The key remained in the vault for the next hundred-and-twenty years until someone was tipped off the night before we went in for the robbery. We don’t know who stole it— it could’ve been anyone.”
“Yes, but things changed after we talked to Frank,” Kallie said.
“The second time around, we delayed Frank a few minutes by talking to him. Masci’s men caught up, and saw him put the key in the vault,” I mused. “Then they stole it, before hunting him down to kill him at the vampire bar.”
“That lines up with what I saw,” Chancey confirmed.
“So we’re in a new timeline now,” I said. “One where the key has been in the hands of the angels all this time.”
“It makes sense that Masci wouldn’t have given the key to the Warden,” Kallie pointed out. “The Warden killed his father. They weren’t on good terms.”
“That doesn’t mean the Warden won’t find it among the other angels,” I said. “Masci must’ve given it to someone before he died. The Warden is closer to the key than ever before because of what we changed
“I’ll put the Elvish Associates on gathering intel about Masci Taurus and his people,” I offered. “They can find out who was working for him at the time, and who might’ve been involved
Ava has a ceremony to be accepted by the gods. She receives a vision what is happening now in the Blessed Heaves: monsters, dark gods and devils at war with all the gods of the supernatural world, the Hawkei gods, Mother Miriam the witch, the merfolk gods, the Fae gods... every god is fighting to keep the darkgods at bay. They came through the black portal made by the Warden
If they lose the war that means the end of all magic, of earth and all of the supernatural world!!!!!

Kallie and Marcus-> these scenes were absolutely heartbreaking and hit way too close to home....
Whether Marcus realized it or not, he was doing this to punish himself, and he’d let that consume him to the point where he was only thinking about how to protect his feelings. Kallie desperately wanted to be with him, and he couldn’t see that’s what would make her happy. He was afraid to be happy with her, so he deliberately made them both miserable by pushing her away

The Devil’s City (Hidden Legends: Academy of Villains Book 5) ~~ What a finale! Ava Marie and Charlie’s story comes full circle — raw, powerful, and emotional. Everything they’ve been through finally leads to this moment, and it couldn’t have ended any better. The battles were intense, the romance was everything I’d hoped for, and the ending left me smiling through tears. Ava truly embraces her destiny, and Charlie… well, let’s just say he proves what true devotion looks like. This book was absolutely unforgettable, and the Audible narration made me feel like I was living every second right beside them.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.

Ok…I’m not sure about this one…I enjoyed it kind of…
By the time I got to the last few chapters I wanted to give up and found that Ava Marie had taken her toll on me….she is so annoying and an awful character..and towards the end Charlie was just as bad…I think the only reason I have carried on with this is because I wanted to see how it ended..but it was a long slog…I think Marcus and Kallie would have been far better povs…why they chose Ava and Charlie who are really annoying is a mystery..
I think the background characters are the ones that kept me going….and thay could take at least five chapters out of it and it would make no difference to the story..it’s very over written and explains things way too much.

OMG! This was the best book so far in the series, can't wait for book 6. If you haven't read these yet, you NEED to read all the books in the hidden legends universe. There are tons of connections between this book and the others. The emotional rollercoaster was crazy!

Seriously Megan and Alicia love to make me use all of emotions while I read their books. This book was filled with so many big moments, it was like riding the best roller coaster
