Snoop: A Small Town Gossip Mystery

Rate this book
Sam Hayes relishes her job as gossip columnist for her father’s small-town paper, The Corner News. After all, she’s naturally snoopy. But her days of reporting on local recipes and tea parties suddenly take on a new dimension when residents of friendly Cotter's Corner start falling victim to an unknown killer. Sam quickly takes her journalistic oath to heart, and leaps––feet first––into tracking down the killer. The first victim is one of her friends, and the local sheriff doesn’t seem to have the skill to solve the baffling case. When Sam’s girlhood crush suddenly steps back into her life and offers to help her in her quest, not even the admonitions of her overly protective father and her outrageous mother (who arrives for a “short” visit) can sway Sam from investigating the murders. As far as she’s concerned, she is the town’s official “snoop” and she takes her job seriously. As the bodies pile up, Sam and her cohorts probe deeper into the mystery and, eventually, the young reporter runs into a devious and unexpected killer.

Lyla Fox spent over twenty years teaching English from first grade to high school and college. During that time, she also wrote everything she could from newsletters, to letters-to-the-editor, to a children's novel, which won a Writer's Digest Honorable Mention, and articles for national magazines such as Newsweek, Forbes, Parents, and various other national and regional publications. With her two children grown and living two thousand miles way and a husband devoted to the golf course, Lyla is thrilled to have time to work in the genre that has captivated her since fourth grade when she discovered the adventurous Nancy Drew. Snoop is her first mystery, but she's already far into two others with equally trying situations and quirky characters.

Hey there Guys and Dolls,

There's nothing I love more than snooping around in other people's business! Getting the scoop on all the dishy gossip in town is my favorite past-time so it was certainly a pleasure to read this delicious and suspenseful cozy by Lyla Fox.

When one of the citizens of Cotter's Corner is found murdered Samuels Harper Hayes takes it upon herself to find out what really happened. Gossip, murder and mayhem in a small town setting make you feel as if you have gone to the cinema where you get caught up in the story. I was drawn in by a cast of interesting characters and suspenseful plot twists that kept me turning the pages!

Will Samuels figure out who is behind the sinister events that are going on around town before more innocent people get hurt? You'll just have to read "SNOOP" and find out for yourself!

Of course as you may know we lost our dear friend author Lyla Fox just over a month ago and she is sorely missed as more of her stories will be. Be sure to read this wonderful book which deserves your attention. BRAVO to LYLA FOX!

This is the perfect beach read--it was funny, had a spunky heroine with a cute dog, a charming male lead, and more than a bit of murder thrown in. Very well written, and I enjoyed every minute of it. If this author comes out with anything else, I'll definitely be reading.

I liked the small town atmosphere where everyone knows each other. A woman who tries escape her socialite mother and handsome but boring fiancee from Chicago comes home to run the newspaper finds herself trying to solve the crime while ignoring her desire to date her high school crush.

I found this book entertaining. It made for a good light beach read. A lot of dysfunctional people and relationships but not to the point of making the book unreadable.
