As a video game character, Muletta is the runt of her player's account. She is a mule, built for the purpose of looking after the account's loot and affairs, which she has grown somewhat weary of. Always in the shadows of Faron, the main, and Critimus, the PVP character, she craves more playtime. When Faron doesn't return as planned, unexpected events leave her risking death, deletion, and possible permaban in order to save him. Join Muletta as she has the adventure of a lifetime!
The Mule is a fun, welcoming gamelit adventure, with lots of action, danger and even though I’m still pretty new to the genre, this one made it easy to settle in. I’ve read a couple of P.A. Wikoff’s books before, so I already had a sense of their playful, character‑driven style—and Muletta fits right into that vibe.
She’s the smallest, least glamorous character on her player’s account, basically built to haul loot and stay out of the spotlight, and she’s more than ready for something different. That mix of practicality, attitude, and quiet frustration gives the story a lot of charm right from the start.
As things unfold, Muletta ends up dealing with situations well outside her usual routine, and that’s where she really shines. Her scrappiness, determination, and slightly exasperated humour make her incredibly easy to root for. She’s quirky in a grounded way, and her voice carries the whole book.
Even as a gamelit beginner, I never felt lost. The mechanics are clear, the pacing stays lively, and the tone is warm with just the right amount of chaos. It’s very much an underdog‑steps‑forward kind of story, and it works without relying on heavy lore or big twists.
The Mule is a fun read with a heroine who proves that even the “inventory character” can steal the show. Grab a copy, I am sure you will enjoy it.
The Mule by P.A. Wikoff is a fun Litrpg/GameLit fantasy story- with adventure, drama, self-discovery, action, danger, role-playing, and more. I have read and enjoyed some of Mr. Wikoff’s other books- so I didn’t hesitate to dive into this story to see what it was all about. It proved to be quite a fun, light, and intriguing read – where we meet Muletta, a ‘support’ character in a game who dreams of being ‘more’. When things go awry and one of the ‘main’ game characters goes MIA, Muletta is thrust into the fray. And so her adventure begins… The story is wonderfully detailed and descriptive- bringing the story and characters to ‘life’. The characters were well developed, quirky, and interesting – all making for a fun and engaging read. Happy Reading…
