Calvin Riddle considers himself an ordinary guy. He enjoys owning a home and working as a server in a restaurant. So, when his head cracks open and a fully grown doppelganger spills out, Calvin is understandably distraught. Soon "the Other" is wreaking havoc on Calvin's interfering with his work and love life and compromising his ethics. Calvin may have resort to drastic actions. Unfortunately for him, his troubles are just beginning.

About the author

Christamar Varicella writes fiction and occasionally dabbles in nonfiction. He is currently writing a horror novel "Split," book 1 of The Others series. Split can be read on the Kindle Vella platform.

In 2020, his short story, "The Other" was published in The Gateway Review: A Journal of Magical Realism. It was named Editor's Favorite and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

Also in 2020, his true crime story, "The Voodoo Preacher" was selected for Best True Crime Stories: Small Towns, edited by Mitzi Szereto, and was published under the name of his alter ego, David Brasfield.

In 2019, he edited and published Blood Cries by Chris Hope. The book tells the story of the woman who tracked down a lost true crime manuscript written by a world-famous author. Read excerpts at christamar.com.
