I have a few books on my Kindle from Vella and as this platform is ending, I am trying to make sure that the episodes I own are downloaded and read. Today I finished The Scar! The Scar by Shae Evans is one of her earlier works and does not appear to be available in any other format. The story is amazingly detailed with a strongly defined leading couple and a large group of interesting secondary characters. Emma Jones has lived a life that makes the trials of Cinderella look like a walk in the park. Raised by an abusive mother and compared unfavorably to her conventionally more attractive (vain and mean) sister, Emma’s low self-esteem propelled her from the frying pan into the fire. Thinking she was finding someone to love her, she married Jeremy (who appears throughout the story) only to find that he is more dysfunctional and vastly eviler than her mother! His abusive actions inadvertently lead her to a “found family” and eventually the true love of her life. However, the road to happiness is paved with many bumps and obstacles. Ms. Evans has given her readers a lengthy book with multiple narrators; I really enjoyed the insight into the lives of the people in Emma’s orbit: Zach first her enemy then her great love, Javier her best friend, the two fussing old ladies (hilarious), her mentor Ralph, her father and his family, Dylan, Zach's sister Kelly, and even her mother Sylvia and her sister Lisa and her sister’s husband, Deshaun…and each villainous person received their just desserts…absolutely awesome. I hope that this book is slated to be released as a regular Kindle book😊 https://theretiredreader.com/f/the-sc...
