Wolfbane is a paranormal romance novel and the first book in the Wolfbane series. I have not read anything by this author before and was unsure what I was going to get. Even though the book is 500 pages the plot itself is fast paced and the story flows well. With true fated mates, werewolf lore, conservative religious beliefs, dupery and second chances this book has it all. There is also betrayal, lies, secrets, drama, angst, hurt, pain, hope, love and some violence. Wolfbane is a story of a Love Square or Love Rectangle involving four people. Pitting friends against each other. What a twisted tale Celia has given us. I got to say my heart and my head are all over the place with this one. Frustrated beyond belief with some of the characters and I wanted to slap the heck out of them or bodily harm. It didn’t grip me like I hoped it would and I think that is because of some of the characters. Blake the future alpha had it all, but it was taken from him. Then he meets her, and things become quite a mess. I really liked him as a character and my heart went out to him. Jasmine is the rule follower but when the future alpha catches her attention then all bets could be off. Or are they? Feelings for Blake, betrayed by her mate and best friend she doesn’t know what to do. Luke loves his mate’s best friend and is being led around by his d*ck. The indecisive nitwit. I wanted to knock some sense into him. Lucy is a selfish duplicitous b*atch! She knew what happens when you meet your mate, but she is a sh*tty person, stamps her foot like a two-year-old and has a temper tantrum. Then she does the unthinkable. I absolutely hated her. I am surprised I didn’t break my tablet in frustration. I guess these intense feelings just go to show how well written Celia made them. The story is told through multiple POV which is my favourite way of storytelling and great because you get to know who the characters are. The story flowed well until the ending where it felt a little rushed and abrupt in its ending. I will be reading the next because I have to know how it all turns out in the end. Just because this is how I felt reading this book does not mean that everyone feels the same so give it a go and make your own decisions.
This was a really interesting take on fated mates and second chances. I liked the fact the characters were flawed and it wasn’t the usual “perfectly matched” scenario.
There were moments I wanted to throttle Luke and Lucy definitely needed her best friend/girl card revoked but that’s what made it a great read. The angst! I’ve gotta say I was definitely happy with the outcome.
Wolfsbane is a werewolf shifter romance story. It has fated mates trope and follows Jasmine and Blake. While I really enjoy werewolf books, this one did not work for me. I had a real problem with Luke throughout this whole story. He tried so hard to be the good guy, stuck between a rock and a hard place, but I just thought he was a complete jerk and instead of growing a backbone and making a decision, really hurt others. There was also too much back and forth with Luke and him trying to pick between his girlfriend and his fated mate and I got bored at times, it was really redundant. All the events and drama surrounding Jasmine and Luke really foreshadowed any other developments that were happening in the story and there was a lot of drama. Overall, this book was not for me. I received an advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
I didn't enjoy this take on werewolf lore. I didn't find it thoroughly explained in depth. I also didn't find the romance compelling. It really bothered me how they pinned the two female leads, who were allegedly best friends, against one another too.
I just reviewed Wolfbane by Celia Hart. #Wolfbane #NetGalley [NetGalley URL]
Okay, I detested this book. I do not know why it has so many positive reviews, it's just a mess. Prepare for a rant, if you read on.
So, I assumed (wrongly, but still) that because there were three main characters described in the flap copy that this was a poly romance. It is not. It's just a very sex-heavy book, which would be fun if it was well-written, well-plotted, or had any redeeming qualities at all. Seriously, this book is such a waste. I'm not trying to be a hater, but it is very bad, and I do hate it.
First, the characters are all stock characters. Jasmine, the main protagonist, is a Good Girl who plays by the rules. She likes to work out and is saving herself for her mate. Her best friend (I literally don't remember her name) is a Bad Girl, and a whore. She likes to drink, she's always late, and she has sex with her boyfriend because she doesn't believe in tradition. All things, you might think, a normal person might do, but she's also mean and selfish, so all of these actions make her a piece of shit. She seduced her boyfriend because he's high-status and she wanted to move up in the world.
Our two male characters I will call Sad Alpha and Stupid Beta. Sad Alpha is a very fit, ruthless guy who will lead the pack. He's sad because he met his mate but she died, so he feels doomed to being alone. Stupid Beta loves Bad Girl, who has been his girlfriend for two years. They are not True Mates, but Bad Girl wants to be with him anyway and he has never made a decision in his life. They claim to love each other, but no relationships in this book are based on anything more than sex. Literally, being in love with someone is eating a steak with them and wanting to fuck. That's that.
The main conflict begins when Jasmine and Beta realize they are True Mates. He is still dating her best friend, who he loves, and he tells her he wants time to make a decision. Meanwhile, Bad Girl has a temper tantrum about Jasmine and Beta being mates, despite the fact that everyone in their lives told them this would happen eventually. She keeps boning him, and because he's very stupid and can't make a decision, she is able to get pregnant (accidentally on purpose) to keep him.
The mechanics of this world would be interesting if they were actually interrogated. The moon goddess supposedly grants mates, and guides all things in life. We do not get any explanation for why the alpha and beta are an inherited position, or how wolf society fits in with the rest of the world. Purity culture exists, as does marriage, and abortion is forbidden. Basically, it's fundamentalist Christianity with a few bells and whistles, and some magic. Unfortunately, the way the book is written, you are kind of expected to think this is right? Like, you should only be with your True Mate, or bad things will happen. You are only granted one person, and if they don't want you for some reason you're going to have a hard time with it. Sex is magical and sacred and if you don't wait, you will be sorry. It has "you're defrauding your future husband/wife by having sex" vibes.
The plot is super predictable for the most part- we know that the best friend's boyfriend will be Jasmine's mate, and Bad Girl bestie literally says "what if I get pregnant to force him to be my mate" way early in the book, because she wants them to be "chosen mates" which isn't as good as True Mates but like, fine. You know from the beginning that Jasmine will end up with Sad Alpha because their relationship is at least kind of nuanced, in that they also speak to each other in addition to feeling lust. You know that the sanctimonious religious family will turn out to be hypocrites, because of the foreshadowing at the beginning of the book about Jasmine's half brother.
This book reminds me of some snippets I've read of those werewolf stories on story apps- pretty rote and unmemorable, but they put a lot of smut in to draw in readers. I am pro-smut, but this book is so lackluster in every way, not even the sex is good. Don't waste your time or money, I got an ARC.

This is the first book in the Wolfbane series. I don’t normally enjoy love triangle books but picked this one up and wow. There were so many things I loved about this book (Blake!), and there were some things that frustrated me, but I think it’s a good sign that I was able to get so passionate about the characters and events taking place. The premise was great, and while I wish some things had played out differently and more focus on some characters than others, I found it entertaining and engaging. It was well-written, flowing nicely and the descriptions conjured clear and vivid imagery of both the scenery and the characters. I really enjoyed most characters, but my absolute favourite was Blake. I won’t allow anyone to say anything against him, he is precious and must be protected (not that he needs protection)! He’s so sweet and understanding of Jasmine’s beliefs and needs and I honestly wanted to stop reading at points where I felt he was not receiving the attention he deserved. He is perfection and no one will convince me otherwise. I also loved the effect he had on others for example, despite being the future alpha, he elicits a fun and more carefree side to Jasmine. He has such goodness in him, even with the darker parts and the terrible things he has experienced, that really show his true character and I can’t get enough of him. Another thing that I absolutely loved about this book was the character development. Anyone who knows me know that I adore books with brilliant character development, and this one certainly provided me with plenty. Not only do we see the how and why characters start the way they did, we see the events and people which guide and shape them as the story progresses. I enjoyed the refreshing take on the mate bond and chosen mates. The way the story played out in the end made me happy and the fact that there was no cliffhanger – bonus! The bit I didn’t like was how drawn out the love triangles went on for and the way some characters were seemingly forgotten at times. I understood the need for it to play out that way to show the development of the characters and the events which unfolded but the amount of focus on it did cause me to take a break and come back to it. I also felt the development could have been even greater if some of the important/defining moments were given to alternative characters.
Overall, this is a very enjoyable read and I would happily reread. I can’t wait to fall back into the world with book 2!
This is the first book in the Wolfbane series. It is a paranormal romance which has twists and turns, fated mates, hot sexy alpha and beta werewolves and one girl torn between the two. This story was a fast paced read and had characters you will love and also hate. It is a story of finding your fated mate but also a story of friendships and how they can go from positive to negative and toxic. We have four main characters in this story and each on is unique. Firstly we have Jasmine. She is a firm believer of following the rules set out by her pack and her parents and vows to keep herself for her mate alone that is until temptation is placed in her way in the shape of the new Alpha Blake.
Blake had it all including his mate until she was taken away from him. He now lives life on his terms and is determined to not let another woman close until he meets Jasmine. Something about her draws him to her and even though he knows she isn't his mate it doesn't mean he can stop the attraction he feels towards her.
Then we have Luke and Lucy. Lucy is Jasmine's best friend and unlike Jasmine she doesn't want to wait for her fated mate. She wants to choose her mate and she chooses Luke. Luke knows that Lucy isn't his mate but is happy to go along with it. That is until he finally meets his mate Jasmine. The lengths Lucy goes to destroy any chance of Luke and Jamaine being together really made me dislike her. She acts like a child who can't get her own way. Saying that Luke was just as bad thinking with another part of his body instead of his head which leads to problems with Jasmine.
Through all this story my heart goes out to Jasmine and Blake. All Jasmine wanted was to find her mate and for him to have saved himself for her like she has for him and it breaks her heart when she realises who her mate is. My Heart also broke for Blake. As he got closer to Jasmine his feelings towards her start to change from friendship to something more but with the arrival of her mate he has to face losing someone he cared about again.
This was a gripping story that I couldn't put down. The author's writing was great to have 4 characters and to leave me with such strong emotions about each character is unique for me as a reader. I can't wait to see what else this series brings.
Wolfbane is the first book in the Wolfbane series by Celia Hart. It is a paranormal shifter romance, with werewolves, pack dynamics, a love triangle/square, fated mates, ANGST, DRAMA, family dynamics, action, violence, chemistry, sizzle, challenges, obstacles, tension, heartache, push-pull, frustrating developments, multiple POV’s, and more. I LOVE a great paranormal romance, it is one of my favourite genres, add in shifters/werewolves- and I’m a happy camper. So, when I saw this pop up on social media, I didn’t hesitate to grab a copy and dive right in. I had high expectations, I must admit- because I love this genre so much. I had never read anything by this author before (and this does appear to be her debut novel), so I was excited to see what she could do. I will be honest here and say, I really did want to love this book much more than I did. I am disappointed that I didn’t- as this has the potential to be brilliant. It just didn’t really work for me. I was expecting a love triangle, but this took that so much further- more like two love triangles- which just muddled/complicated things unnecessarily, in my opinion. I don’t necessarily dislike ‘cheating’ in books, if it’s done right- but this felt like ‘cheating’ to me- and it frustrated me to death. It felt like it was done to ‘manufacture angst and add drama, for the sake of it. I really think that this book would have been brilliant if it had just focused on one couple, and didn’t overly complicate the whole thing with the ‘multiple’ love interest dynamics. I found it hard to really connect with the characters, because of that ‘dynamic’. Just when things were getting interesting, towards the end, the flow got quite rushed and then the ending seemed to come somewhat abruptly. The series is set to continue in ‘Wolfblood’ (Book #2)- but from what I can see, it focuses on different characters- so I will have see what happens there. But don’t let my opinion put you off reading this story, you might love it- especially if you love paranormal romance with plenty of sizzle and love triangles/squares. So, if that’s the case, grab yourself a copy and make up your own mind. Happy Reading…
This was an amazing book! I loved that you never know what to expect, there are so many surprises on every page, and it was exciting. I love that the characters are so dynamic, and each has their own uniqueness about them. I loved getting to know Jasmine, and seeing how completely opposite her best friend, Lucy, is from her. Jasmine is our main character who begins this story as the werewolf who lives her life as close to the rules set by her parents, as she possibly can, following strict religious beliefs that had been taught her whole life until she meets the soon-to-be alpha werewolf, Blake. He is your typical bad boy, conceited, lady's man, party boy who isn't used to being told no by anyone, especially the ladies. This makes the chase for Jasmine's attention a challenge he's excited to take on. Luke, who is Lucy's attractive boyfriend at the beginning of the story, also happens to be someone that Jasmine has a major crush on. Once Lucy turns of age for the mate bond to take effect, she is sorely disappointed that Luke is not her mate. Luke also happens to be Blake's soon-to-be beta. What happens when Luke finds his mate, will he be able to give up on his love for Lucy to follow the mate bond, or will he be willing to reject his mate and stay with the woman he loves, Lucy? Will Blake be able to seduce Jasmine into a relationship based more on friendship, if so, what happens when she finds her own mate? There are a lot of circumstances that are hard to take within this book, but it all helps to build up the character's personalities, as well as the depth of their feelings. I was so happy to find out that there are 2 more books in this series because you do end on a cliffhanger, which leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to start the next book and read further about the fates of our four friends. @Brandy Rymer 11/2023
Jasmine is a young woman with a very strict lifestyle, she lives in a very religious community and her parents have very stringent beliefs too and Jasmine has always followed the rules. The main rule is to save herself for her fated mate, she isn't meant to even be around males in the community and for a long time she never questioned this and the nearest she came to breaking the rules was her first crush.
Blake is the son of the alpha in their pack, his life has not been the easiest and he thinks everything will look up when he finds his mate and for a while it did, until their beloved deity decided that his happiness couldn't last and took his mate from him. The devastation he felt was almost unbearable and when the opportunity came to move away from where he saw her everywhere, he took it, but now he is returning to the pack to take the role of alpha.
Luke is the son of the pack beta and although he knows the rules, he has flaunted one and now is in over his head, they are all told to wait for their mate, but he didn't listen and now after spending two years away from the pack on a mission, he has come back only to find out who his mate is, and this is where complications begin.
As Jasmine develops an illicit friendship, she is overcome with new feelings of rebellion and wanting to break the rules she has stuck to like glue up until now, but she still wants to wait for her mate as well, but when he does, it is the one person who she feared most. Blake meanwhile is torn between his duty and the shy girl who he cannot help but open up to and get out of his head and Luke is wavering between a choice which will hurt someone, but who will it be?
This is a spicy paranormal romance in which twisted up feelings are unravelled, and choices made amid turmoil and danger, but what choices are made is a mystery you will have to read to the end to find out.
Jasmine is what is known as a good girl. She follows all the rules and doesn’t take any risks. Growing up with religious strict parents will do that to you. She believes that she has to remain pure for her fated mate. That is until she meets Blake, the future Alpha.
Blake’s mate died and he had no interest in pursuing anything until Jasmine came along. They know nothing can happen between them but they can’t help but feel attraction for each other. Jasmine is the first girl that Blake has felt comfortable with since his mate passed away. Blake makes Jasmine want to take risks and start exploring some physical aspects she has never done before.
Then along came Jasmine’s fated mate, Luke, who is her bestfriends boyfriend. Which makes things so much more complicated. Once her best friend, Lucy, finds out, she throws a tantrum and turns against Jasmine. Luke doesn’t know what to do and has no backbone when it comes to Lucy. Even though Luke is not Lucy’s fated mate, she vowed to never lose him and will do anything to keep him. Everyone all of a sudden has a choice to make. The obvious choices are no longer that obvious as time goes on.
I liked Jasmine and Blake and found myself rooting for them even though they were not fated mates. I disliked Luke and hated Lucy. Lucy was a crappy friend. She constantly tried to get Jasmine to do things she didn’t want to do and called her a prude when she disagreed with her. All in all Lucy was just a crappy and selfish person in general.
The characters themselves didn’t seem to have much depth to them in my opinion. I feel like the author was just trying to hit as many tropes as possible. I am hoping as the series continues, the characters will become more personable.
Wolfbane mainly tells the story of 4 young werewolf from Midnight Maple pack who struggled to fight the fate brought to them.
Honestly I enjoy the story. Such an easy read because the plot flows naturaly. And I love that the characters actually have flaws. It allows me as reader to see the character(s) building. I'd like to summarise from the characters. There's Jasmine, a girl who had been raised in conservative family was saving herself for her future mate. Vowed to not date until she found her mate. And then Lucy (Jasmine's bestfriend) being raised in liberal family (as Lucy's mother called it), ignore all of the conservative believes. She flirted around until she met and dated Luke the soon-to-be Beta. It's interesting that Luke, Lucy's boyfriend and soon-to-be Beta was actually Jasmine's mate. Blake the soon-to-be Alpha in Midnight Maple pack on the other hand had lost his mate during the war before.
I usually don't really like multiple POV, but I find myself enjoying multiple POV in this book (especially Blake's of course😆). This helps me understand to know the characters feeling and what they've been through. Another interesting part in this book is the author actually gives insight that not all mated couple are perfect and there're a lot of mated couple who messed up.
The plot itself is fast paced with abit flashback here and there. But I feel the story a bit rushed around 20% towards the end of the book.
Anyway I really enjoy reading Wolfbane. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the chance to review this book.

First off, this review is not for the under 18 crowd. So, all you young'uns just go grab a soda and read a different book. I'm not having the mom brigade come after me with pitchforks thinking I recommended this book to younger adults or children with the spice level in this book. I've already been down that message stream and don't want a repeat. So go on and move along. Ok, now that the "unders" are gone, let's get down to the review!
This paranormal romance is an interesting twist on the fated mates/love triangle/second chances trope that was a fun read on a Sunday afternoon. Jazzmine, a young college student, has done the impossible and saved herself for her fated mate, much to the chagrin of her best friend and the few boys who have dared to look her way. The book gives an interesting look at fated vs chosen mates while pitting friends against each other in a love triangle and throws in another hot guy to offer up just in case one hot guy isn't enough. Add in a brewing war to intensify everything as well and you have a fun, explosive read to enjoy! The author did a wonderful job of adding enough spice to heat things up while not being overtly gratuitous. I've not read anything from this author before and while I think there is some room for improvement, I'll definitely read the next book in the series as the author has woven a creative world of werewolves that are entertaining and spicy that are entertaining and fun!
I'm a sucker for a fated mates wolf tale but this one put everything on its head! Jasmine is one of the only teenagers that's managed to do the unthinkable, save everything including your first kiss until you meet your fated mate after you turn 18. Her best friend Lucy thinks it's silly and threw all of those beliefs away to be with her boyfriend Luke the upcoming Beta. Blake, the upcoming Alpha comes home after years in Sibera at Alpha college while he mourned the loss of his fated mate and meets Lucy and finds her charming and a precious gem saving everything for her fated mate. However Blake can't resist wanting to have a few of her firsts to himself and finds himself falling into feelings he doesn't understand as his fated mate is gone and he thought he'd never feel anything again. In walks Luke, home from a mission for the last two years and ecstatic to be by Lucy's side again only to find himself in the worst love triangle possible right at the breaking of a major war. What does Jasmine decide, will she wait to meet her fated mate or will she explore her adult urges with Blake. What about Luke, what does he do when he loved Lucy but finds he also loves his goddess chosen mate as well? What is better fated, or chosen? You'd think thr answer would be simple but this author really makes you think about this situation in a way other wolf stories never have. Extremely well done and I can't wait to read more!
Life as a shifter can lead you into the unknown. Jasmine’s parents are very religious and extremely strict. We have all had friends who wished their parents would be more like other parents. She has grown up with the view that you wait for your mate and don’t spend time with male shifters. Jasmine known as PJ or Perfect Jasmine has all A’s in school, won’t have sex until she meets her mate, and listens to her parents and doesn’t break any rules. When she turns 18 she will be able to sense who her mate is and she is looking forward to the day when she finds her perfect mate. She will fall in love and all will be perfect. We all wish it was that easy.
Her best friend for years Lucy doesn’t care about the rules and has a boyfriend she is head over heels for. She is determined that they will end up as mates.
Trials will turn their lives into turmoil in the epic story. I had a hard time putting this book down and read very late into the night.
Why are wolves gorgeous beyond belief, well some of them. Blake is going to be Alpha and Luke will be his Beta. With war on the horizon how this story will unfold is anyone's guess.
This book has four POV's Jasmine, Blake, Luke and Lucy and is a true/chosen/rejected mate. I absolutely loved this book so much that I finished it in a day and a half and was sad when I finished it. I am so excited that there are two more books in the series, and I cannot wait until they are released! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes reading werewolf stories.
It has been a while since I have read a werewolf story though I am not sure why since I normally love them. This one was well-written and made me feel so many emotions when things happened to Jasmine and Blake my favorite characters in the book. I know that the book needed Lucy and Luke, but I honestly disliked them so much and wished that Lucy was not even in the book. It did turn out all right in the end for everyone involved. While I knew what was going to happen between Jasmine and Luke and Luke and Lucy I was still shocked. I do not know if this happens to anyone else, but when I know something is about to happen in a book, movie or tv show I am still surprised.
Many thanks to Celia Hart and NetGalley for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Wolfbane by Celia Hart is about a pack of young wolves who have complicated relationships due to their way of life, and also about coming to power. This book is a romantic tale of how some people come to just simply be right for one another. Dive in to this modern story based in Vermont and succumb to your inner animal.
Jasmine is a young wolf who believes in her religion and what magical things the moon goddess provides for her way of life. She was just living her everyday routine as she always has until she meets a certain prince alpha that waltzed into her life, knowing that she wasn’t supposed to divulge into such temptations as she was supposed to wait for her true mate. What will she do?
This story has multiple character POVs between the 4 main characters. It is a magical tale where sometimes even if things are supposed to be right for you sometimes aren’t, and that’s okay. I loved this chaotic relationship status quo as it definitely flowed beautifully. This book was such a page turner, at first I wasn’t sure but I’m glad I didn’t put it down. Looking forward to book two. Overall 5 star book!
Wolfbane (Wolfbane Series Book 1) by Celia Hart 4 Stars
In the Midnight Maple Pack, the Moon Goddess chooses your mate. It has always been this way but what if the Goddess chooses wrong? Jasmine has always followed the rules, never caused any problems and is saving herself for her mate unlike her best friend Lucy. Jasmine stumbles upon an unlikely friendship. The attraction is electric and she finds herself having immoral thoughts about him. Her mate shows up and causes certain situations to blow up. Life is not fair. Will Jasmine continue to be the good girl and follow the rules or will she decide to follow her heart and choose her own path?
This is a new wolf shifter romance series. It follows the Midnight Maple Pack. This is a good start to what will be an interesting series. Even though Jasmine was a little too goody goody for me, I enjoyed her growth throughout the novel. Luke, albeit a good guy, annoyed me so much. My favourite character was Blake, oh my gosh! I enjoyed the fact that sometimes the gods make mistakes and fated mates are not perfect. It was a nice twist.
An enjoyable and engaging paranormal romance which kept me hooked throughout. The rules say that as a wolf shifter you should wait for the Moon Goddess to grant you your mate, which Jasmine who always follows the rules does, so no flirting and no dating. But then she meets the mysterious future alpha who is off limits but she’s drawn to him, until her first crush reappears and suddenly she’s torn between two werewolves. The complicated relationships between Jasmine and Blake and Jasmine and Luke as well as best friend Lucy makes for a storyline full of drama, angst, romance and sizzling chemistry. I loved the characters and the dynamics between them and how certain relationships changed and developed throughout the story, and the chemistry sizzled off the page. The setting came alive through the descriptive narrative and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story. I was pleased there was no cliffhanger ending and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
I loved this book!! It's a fantastic werewolf story with a cast of strong characters and an intriguing storyline. The author does a wonderful job developing her story as well as the characters and pulled me in right from the start. She kept me glued to the pages reading Jasmine's story with all the action, steam and emotions throughout. It's a true mates/chosen mates dilemma between Jasmine and her new alpha, Blake and beta, Luke. She brings the heat along with the romance and had me turning the pages as fast as I could to see where she was taking the story. It's told in multiple POV's which really made the story that more intense. I kind of flip flopped my opinions with the male characters as the story moved on. It's well written, moves fluidly with descriptive scenes and is an awesome read. Loved and recommend this book. Hope to see more from this pack.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Jasmine lives a very sheltered life with her parents and is trying to complete school and spends her time working at her local cafe. She’s saving herself for her mate as per her religious upbringing. She finds herself drawn to Luke, the pack betas son. unfortunately he’s her best friend Lucy’s boyfriend. She’s also a drawn to Blake, the alpha in waiting. Jasmine discovers Luke is her mate when he returns home from being away at college for two years. There is a lot of angst whilst they try and figure out their feelings for each other. Luke was frustrating with his indecisive behaviour whereas Blake was flirty and sweet. The angst was unreal and I wanted to throw my kindle across the room a few times! I enjoyed the plot in general and the ending was quite satisfying too. Looking forward to book 2.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book I’ve downloaded from NetGalley and I wanted to provide an honest review of the book in my own words.
Wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect from the debut novel from Celia Hart, but what she delivered was fantastic! The story circles around four young adults trying to navigate their roles in their wolf pack and the troubles that come along when love is involved. This book includes some very relatable subjects and really endears the characters to readers.
Often times with shifter novels there’s not a good balance between plot and spice. The author was able to capture that perfectly and provided readers with the opportunity to get to know the characters both in and out of the bedroom. While Jasmine was the main character, it’s Blake I would have liked to read more of. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in paranormal romances or shifters in general. ❤️
This book is long, but doesn't seem to be because it's so well written that you don't want to put it down. This is a fated mate book. Jasmine has very strict parents and has always been a good girl who follows the rules. She is determined to wait until her 18th birthday to discover who her fated mate is. Lucy, her best friend, thinks the rules are old fashioned and falls head over heels in love with her boyfriend. Blake and Luke have both been gone- Blake to go to Alpha college and Luke who was taken away by a mission, but both have now returned. Blake is set to be the Alpha of the pack and Luke is destined to be the beta. Jasmine had a moment with Luke before he left on his mission that made her feel in her soul that he belonged to her, but he left right before her 18th birthday. But now she's starting to see she also has feelings for Blake... so what's going to happen? Guess you'll have to read it and find out! Can't wait for book 2!
A really interesting intriguing start to the series. We follow Jasmine, Blake and Lucy, what do you do when you find yourself dating your fated mates best friend. Jasmine always follows the rules and is waiting for her fated mate to be joined in the temple. Her dreams and hard work are brought to an emotional precipice. Blake finds himself dating Lucy even when trying to decide whether to go with his fated or his chosen mate, he cannot seem to stay away from either, and this causes a lot of emotional upset issues with both females. Lucy is Jasmine's best friend and has her sights set on being Blakes chosen mate. And she will not think twice about using underhand tactics, or throwing her best friend under the proverbial bus to get what she wants. Friendships are put under stress and true characters are shown. Love, Lust, Desire, Heartache, all rolled into one. A fast paced book with an emotional story which leaves you wanting to know what happens next.
Wolfbane (Wolfbane Series Book 1) by Celia Hart. This is such a great werewolf, shape shifter, romance. It's the story of Jasmine who is a good college girl and she has saved herself for her fated mate. When she meets Blake who is mourning the loss of his mate sparks fly and she is more than tempted to give up on saving herself. She finally figures out who her mate is and its Luke, her best friends boyfriend. Not a good combination. Blake is the soon to be Alpha and Jasmine loves spending time with him and they vow to always be friends even if they don't end up together. Lucy is her best friend and Luke's girlfriend. Lucy is not the best friend, she is always leading Jasmine into bad situations and I had a hard time liking her. Will Jasmine end up with Luke staying true to her fate and ruin her friendship with Lucy or will she stay follow her heart and give Blake a chance? Such a fast paced love triangle.
Jasmine lives in a world where werewolves have an unspoken rule in their beliefs: the Goddess grants you a mate, wait for them. This rule is something she's followed and believes in...even when she's tempted by her best friend's boyfriend. Then along comes the future Alpha, Blake, and her outlook and control is really tested. I don't want to spoil the book, but just know that this is a must-read for avid paranormal/shifter-romance lovers! This was a whole new take on werewolves and their culture! I was enthralled by how different the idea of mates was in this book and really enjoyed the added aspect of religion that played a role in their beliefs. Many of us paranormal readers are familiar with werewolves and fated mates, but this book shows a different side that I don't think many of us considered. Wow! I'll be looking for book two!
Wolfbane by Celia Hart is the first of three books in the Wolfbane series. Jasmine is a werewolf who has been raised in a very religious society with strict parents who believe you should only ever have a relationship with your fated mate. She has never been one to break the rules or make waves. Until the mysterious Alpha Blake returns from Siberia where he has been attending college since the death of his mate. But just when Jasmine is fighting all her urges to stay away from the sexy alpha. She finds her true mate. Beta Luke and none other then her best friend Lucy’s long-time boyfriend. What will Jasmine do and how will she handle all this drama on top of an impending war. This book had me absolutely hooked from the fist page and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. 4 out 5 Stars!
I truly, absolutely love werewolf stories! I love the thrill of the unknown, and the fact that their way of life comes before everything else. I love the way a mate bond works, how you can try to turn away from true love, but in the end the bond always works things out. Now, don't get me wrong, I would not want to have that in my life personally; but isn't that what makes a novel so truly wonderful, you become someone else in the comforting arms of a wonderful author.
*Possible Spoiler* The main male character seems like a total, well, someone who is completely audacious (for lack of a better word). Supercilious as all get out, and could just be a huge aggravation in the beginning chapter. Give him a chance, it does get better as you read on.
Wolfbane is an interesting story with a twist. The main character Jasmine is a well-trained religious young werewolf who has to be perfect for her father and mother. She has to get straight A's and nothing less and keep herself pure for her mate. Yet she finds herself tempted with the young new Alpha and has a hard time understanding the rules of the temple and the moon goddess. Will she be able to withstand the temptations? That is what this book that Celia Hart has written is all about. It leaves you wanting more and is erotic, a tear-jerker, a page-turner that is tragic, twisted and steamy. It is a series that you will want to start and never want to put down plus you will feel as though you are the characters that are being portrayed in the storyline.
Your not supposed to be with anyone except your fated mate by the moon goddess. That is until Jasmine finds herself crushing on her best friend Lucy’s boyfriend. Lucy and Luke aren’t fated to be together but they said if they weren’t mates in two years, they would then choose to be chosen mates. Then she meets the future alpha Blake. Jasmine’s parents are super strict and basically run her life. What she’s doing, who she’s with ect. They want Jasmine to stay in the pharmaceutical industry like they did. Jasmine wants differently for her life. Jasmine is able to get out from under her parents rules and do what she wants. I absolutely adored this story and the chemistry between Jasmine and Blake! Cannot wait for book 2!!!
