Ivy Whitaker writes paranormal romance and contemporary sapphic love stories designed to make your heart ache in the best way. She’s obsessed with crafting believable characters and throwing them into unbelievable situations—because love is messy, healing is hard, and happily-ever-afters are always worth the fight.

A multi-series, multi-genre author (who has it on good authority from her partners that she’s doing a good job), Ivy lives in Western New York with her partners, her human child, and four demanding fur children. When she’s not writing, she’s probably wrangling chaos, designing something witchy, or drinking a cup of coffee she (almost) forgot she made.

Gosh, I really just love Avery & Karina so so much! The bond they share and how he shows up time and time again for her is my absolute favorite. They have a hard time in this book but handle everything together.

Really enjoyed digging deeper into the pack and learning more about what is going on. Can’t stand Iqra and all of her drama with Karina & Avery, plus the Alpha not doing what is best for the whole pack. Seeing Eitan, from Karina’s past return and stir up trouble was really frustrating because he can’t just take a hint, but he got what was coming to him.

I loved seeing more of Natalie and how much her character adds to everything. She’s tenacious and so funny! I love her relationship with Karina. I want to dislike Miguel and do in some regard, but he does care for Karina. He’s just over the top and obsessive, kind of like Eitan. Their characters are such stark contrasts to Avery, which makes you love and appreciate him even more!

Can’t wait to see what happens next! Geez that cliffhanger really gets you!! A huge thanks to Ivy Whitaker and Hawthorne & Aster for the early copy!

I received this book as an ARC and I really enjoyed it. Karina and Avery are easy to love, even though they're constantly getting in over their heads. The juxtaposition of their cozy relationship with the shit storm happening around them is interesting to watch. I did occasionally find myself rooting for Miguel, the bad boy of the story of course. I am a little frustrated that we didn't get deeper into the mystery plot of this series. However, I think the time was well spent on developing the relationship so that they're solid heading into the storm in the next book. I'm excited to see where book 3 takes us.

We picked up where we left off, which was splendid so you didn’t need much of a recap.

However, shit gets REAL. In a hurry. Avery and Karina continue their will they/won’t they? Which is absolutely lovable and they def need to. Natalie continues to be amazing!

We do a little more with the pack and see a little bit more pack dynamic here in book 2 which I thought was helpful as I was starting to wonder how much of that was actually going to play a part in the story line of the series.

I will say I’m nervous about how book 2 ends and I’m looking forward to book 3!

The Fall is the second book in this series and continued where Grim Tide (the first book finished off).

I really like Avery and Karina's relationship. He's so incredibly supportive and never fails to be exactly what she needs when she needs it. I also think it's another one where the age gap trope is done quite well and I liked how the barriers they faced were quite realistic.

There were some interesting developments in this instalment with the crazy ex fiance making an appearance as well as another ex lover. Throw in all the wolf pack drama and an unsolved mystery and you've got yourself an interesting storyline.

I'm looking forward to getting some answers in the next book!

Arc Review

The Fall by @ivywhitakerauthor

( 2nd book in the Grim Tide series)

@hawthorn.and.aster.services

Thanks you for the e arc for an honest review

Some secrets don't stay buried or dead.

I don't think my mind has stopped working, since the ending, which has left so many questions left unanswered, I need book 3 immediately, What's her answer.

Karina and Avery can't catch a damn break 💔 one hurdle over the next hurdle, mountains to climb. Having Avery though, is in itself a constant point, unwavering support even in situations that Karina finds herself in that he knows he won't like it feels uncomfortable but he lends his support never the less. He can be jealous on the inside, but he still there for her to take care of her. You owe me.

Thanks you for showing about head trauma injury and the long lasting affects it has on a person. I know how it is to have migraine and they are dreadful

It's getting dangerous, with trying to find out what the packs, beta and alpha are up to and what's in the warehouse, it's between life and death trying to come out the other side.

Avery needs a warm hug with his been accused of being framed. Karina's past, present and future is all at risks and blurring into an known.

Natalie you are an MVP and I love you so darn much. Your a true badass with a temper who'd do anything to protect her loved ones but I'm also feeling at a loss for a moment with the secrets and heartbreak with the actions of Karina and Avery. I mean please 🥺 that moment in the book I threw my phone in frustration.

Miguel, Aiten are men who are very obsessed and makes it clear how men should not want to treat woman but what happened to them I kind of felt bad for them.

It's getting a whole deadlier in these turns of events, and I need to know who the Madame is more and more. Like what the hell....

This is a book filled with tension and some toxicity.
I was a lot more interested in this plot because it was moving. There were a lot of pieces coming to play.
It definitely has a lot of spicy moments, but the spice is really tame, in my opinion. However, I think there could have been a lot fewer spicy moments to make for more plot twists and action.
I think my biggest hang-up on this book is that it is book 2 in the series and still nowhere near answering what has happened to our MFC's memories of her accident. It seemed more focused on what is going on with the pack.
Also, while this is a great fast pace moving story and a lot is happening, there is a moment where you realize what had felt like a few months that this has all been ocurring, has relly only been a few weeks or a month. This makes everything that had been going on just seem like more than necessary or realistic.
That aside, I enjoyed this book better than Grim Tide and will continue with the series, though I am hoping we get some updates on her memories soon. I recommend it to anyone who likes werewolves, vampires, age-gap romance, secrets, espionage, and a "never giving up" attitude.

I was really excited to get back into this series and I enjoyed book 2 as much as the first one!

The book picks up where the last book left off and we get to know the pack in a little more depth and see Avery and Karina develop their relationship further. I am enjoying the pace of their relationship and the dynamic developing between them, it doesn't feel rushed and is realistic with them both being a little wary while also giving things a chance.

This book has more than one mystery and I am loving trying to guess all the moving parts while also being completely intrigued especially with how this paper ended. I can't give a lot of detail as this is an interconnected series that you just read all the parts for and is a continuous story. I also think this is a book where not really knowing a lot of details will give the best experience reading it. I am loving it so far, loving all the characters whether the good or bad one and I can't wait for book 3!

first and foremost as a person with chronic migraines and a chronic ilness i truly relate to karinas story of pain and suffering

The Fall is not just a sequel.
It is a possession.

Where book one gave us mystery, dread, and feral werewolf hunger,

book two gives us something even more devastating:

A love that feels like rays of sunshine slowly APPEARING after a stormy day.

Every scene between Avery and Karina
feels like a hand around your ribcage whispering, “you can exhale now”

This book is an autopsy of trauma, memory loss, identity fracture, obsession, rage

and at the center of it all:
Avery who says:
I see you. I won’t abandon you when life gets hard, instead i will hold you through it.

Ivy Whitaker, you have created
the blueprint for
emotionally safe monster romance.

And I, too, have fallen.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5 stars.
5 claws.

5 “Avery ruin me”s.

Hawthorn and Aster and Ivy were kind enough to give me an ARC for this book. And I have to say I’m really getting into the story. Avery and Karina’s relationship really grows in this book which I like but for them to be wolf shifters I really was expecting more of a “mate bond” thing to come out of it and I just don’t think that’s what we’re going to get with this. I also found myself rooting for the “bad guy” in this but that just might be the dark romance lover in me. I do feel like the writing it’s self could be cleaned up a little and I do feel like I want a little bit more than what I’m getting but All in all I’m enjoying the plot of this series it makes me want to keep reading and finding out what’s happening. I think it’s definitely worth the read!

From book one where you met someone who is trying to pick up the pieces of her life something she shouldn’t have walked away from to meeting the man she feels like she can’t live without and the man who ignites a fire in her that she shouldn’t want.

To Book two, where you have to keep picking up the pieces of your heart off the floor and stop yourself from screaming “JUST TAKE HER ALREADY!!” To the parts where you have to remember characters are fictional and you can’t jump through the book just to wrap your hands around that one characters neck. “Oh, if I met her on the streets, ITS ON SIGHT IQRA!!” Breathe, remember to breathe.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

The fall is book 2 in the Grim Tide series, and picks up right where book 1 ended.

The mystery deepens, and things start to get heated on multiple sides, leaving us guessing what's really going on, who the good guys are, and who is the real enemy.

The story spends more time exploring Karina's relationships, past and present, but still there's space for Pack life, and the difficult relationships between its members.

Sometimes the plot moves a bit fast, making some aspects of the story feel rushed, but overall I'm super curious to see what the next book will bring.

The Fall is book 2 of the Grim Tide series and I'm not kidding when I say I fell hard for it!

Ok jokes aside xD book 2 was amazing! We got thrown into chaos at the start and we just kept falling. There was one chaotic moment after another and I can't say I was ready for any of it! The spice was top tier IMO and the plot progression as we moved through the story ❤️‍🔥 *chefs kiss*

I do hate the cliffhanger, but in the best possible way! I CANNOT wait until book 3. Ivy please don't make us wait too long!!

Fantastic sequel to Grim Tide! I love that this book picks up right where we left off. In this installment, we get a lot more side character interaction and a lot more development from the FMC and MMC relationship. The book felt a little repetitive at times, which knocked it down to a 4 star read for me, but I highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys paranormal romance, shifter romance, or age gap romance!

I received an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book jumped right into the story where we left off in the previous book. I found myself trying to figure out the mystery of what is going on in Pleasant Valley and what happened to Karina, which kept me engaged. We did end on a big cliffhanger and so many unanswered questions! I can’t wait for the next book and find out what is in store for Karina, Avery, and Nat 🖤

This story takes off right where the first book, Grim Tide left off. The first chapter had me a little worried about Avery and Karina's relationship, but I was quickly reassured. Ivy Whitaker does a good job on book two building the characters, their relationships and the pack world. Look forward to book three!

Thank you, Ivy Whitaker, for the ARC read!

Karina and Avery once again led me on a moody journey of mystery and intrigue.
The spice was spicing.
The angst was angsting.
The tension and drama was on point. Eitan was an unexpected twist. Don’t even get me started on Miguel and Evander!
Iqra is still crazy, but she’s escalating, I’m curious to know if she’s going to snap in book 3.
I’m hopeful trust can be repaired with Natalie as well!
