Tohru Yamato is considered a once-in-a-generation talent. After being highly recruited, he ends up getting kicked off his college track team. After not receiving any transfer opportunities, he receives a second chance in the most unlikely of places, Japan. He must break through cultural differences far from home as he searches for redemption all while preparing to compete in one of the hardest races known to man, the Hakone Ekiden.
