I liked this book thought it was interesting and brought about new ideas to childrens literature. I would use this book in my class if I was talking about fable.

I would read this book to 3rd graders. It teaches students a very valuable lesson, you should always be nice to others because you will be rewarded in the end.

I was not a fan of this take on Cinderella. The Norwegian fairytale had strange illustrations to match and even stranger story line about a young woman with an evil step sister (Bushy Bride) and mother. The Cinderella character of the story gets her grace and good looks from three heads that pop up in the river near her house, the same heads that curse her stepsister when she does not do as they say. In this version, Cinderella (whose name isn't Cinderella) has a brother who leaves home to work for the King, which is how he finds the young girl and wishes to marry her.

The illustrations looked like they were done by a child and didn't have the same qualities of magical imagery in typically fairytales. Maybe I was being too harsh because I was holding it to a higher standard in comparison to a story I grew up with.
