Fox Argall's life with Level I ASD. Webs of complex science with #murder + a side of #romance weaving in through twisty #mystery threads. He leaves a trail of irritation everywhere he goes. Well, almost everywhere. He's very good at a thing or two.
In The Resurrection of the Ruby Skull, Fox finds himself in hot metal inside a handmade art glass shop, with bodies stoking the fires of the furnaces.
I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of Resurrection of the Ruby Skull by Collings MacCrae. This is my second Fox Argall novel, and it blew me away. Author MacCrae has raised the stakes with this one. What I love about a Fox Argall book is that I learn so much. Police procedures, autism, this time the amazing world of art glass, and a smidge of Welsh; all while being hugely entertained. I will say it again the books remind me of Nero Wolfe where the main character, Detective Fox, is joined by a team of talented colleagues, none of whom are untouchable. This story had me reading deep into the night with its cast of intriguing characters, new and old, good and bad. No spoilers ahead. The ending wrapped everything up nicely and hit me in my emotions. I must continue reading these Argall Fox novels as I am addicted and one Character in particular, the mysterious and devious Natalie, has me dying to know her story. Highly recommended, a smart and fun mystery series.
This was (imo) a sic twisted story. The further I read, the darker the secrets being kept were. The murders were vile, evil, and disgusting. It sickened me as I read this, but I forged onward to the end. The web of deceit was deep and dark. Some innocent lost their life in this battle of family against family. Power and greed for what ??? It was a gripping, riveting journey into the depravity of humanity. I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest review.
The best of the series. This author is a master at interweaving the threads of a mystery story together. Got me right from the beginning, and I had a hard time putting it down. Love the characters, their interactions, and how they support each other. If you love mysteries with a bit of humor, lots of real-life scenarios, then this book is for you. Thanks to BookSirens for the ARC of this book.
