At 26, Charlie thought she would be happily married and pregnant. Instead, she's divorced and living in her parent's pool house with no job, no prospects, and no best friend. When she's offered a short-term assignment in Scotland, she jumps at the chance. Suddenly her spring slump turns into the summer of Scots. Will Charlie have the courage to risk everything for true love?
I won't say there was a super complex plot to go along with your smut in this book because there isn't one BUT there is a lovely story of love, passion and finding where you belong. We meet Charlie at her low point but she doesn't wallow in that for long. She makes her own adventure and let's life bring her to 3 very hot Scottish men. First we have Cameron (Cam), a shy, dirty talking intellectual with all the golden retriever vibes. Next comes Jack with the long hair, tats, motorcycle and all the protective "you're everything I ever wanted" vibes. Oh and let's not forget he's a duke. Finally, we have Lachlan (Lach) the secret billionaire who brings the cinnamon roll and emotional intelligence. This story is the epitome of instalove and it doesn't let up. There is no 3rd act break up....it's just smut and moving through their relationship(s). There is a lot of worship of her. Jack is usually the boss. MMFM.... Soooooo all of that sounds perfect right? Well it would be except I LIVE for dual/multi POVs in my romance reading and this book only has that in a few chapters. At 75% we only got the story from Charlie's point of view. We really didn't get to know the guys all that well. We don't get to know their relationships/friendships with one another. I also wish she had included what the other 2 were doing when she was with one of them. They were in the room but most of the time we didn't know what they were up to. It would be hot to know. There is a lovely HEA and the epilogue included in the book on KU is really great. IF you choose to head over to Kindle Vella, like I did, to find out about this smex dungeon that is mentioned to be at their honeymoon destination...don't hold your breath. It wasn't included. I still would have gotten the 4 chapters to read about their honeymoon but I was very disappointed that wasn't included.
This book has: -1st person single POV (we get the guys POVs for a very short time around 75% into the book) - FMC is 26 and I think the guys are around 34-35? -MMFM -almost non-stop smut but we aren't mad about it -well written -worship -edging -remote vibe -primal play -role play a smut book scene -most MMFM positions you can think of -they go for the TVP -mile high club...2 different trips (if you read the honeymoon) -HEA
**spoilers** SOOOOOOOO like I said before...this book is MMFM but we FINALLY get the guy's POVs for a short time later in the book and we find out that Lach and Jack kissed in college.....turns out they've been attracted to each other ever since but Jack hasn't acknowledged it since then. I loved seeing him exploring that and them getting to be their true selves. It seems crazy to me that this whole book wasn't in multi-povs I would have loved to have seen that being brought up earlier so I could have been rooting for them to get together. Instead we're just kind of blindsided with this lovely information and then we don't get to see much more of their inner thoughts because we go back to Charlie's POV. This book was STELLAR when we were getting all 4 POVs. The guys had depth and nuanced relationships. That is why this is 4 stars to me. Because of what it COULD have been and wasn't.
I don’t think this is worth it at all. I started to feel like the Kindle Vella service is a scam so I stopped reading.
This story was merely passable. There wasn’t a lot of interest, romance, or emotion. I didn’t really get any feeling from the story.
Not only that but I was well on my way to spending $10 and I only got to episode 46 while there are over 100 episodes available. I’m not even willing to spend that much on a book so I don’t know why I would spend that on a mediocre novella.
I don’t recommend this book and I recommend Kindle Vella even less.
I wanted to score this book a bit higher, be cause I really enjoyed the story (even if it was a tiny bit far-fetched for me.) But he fact I had to pay to read each section and it was divided up into "episodes" completely turned me off. I kept at it because the story was really good and sucked me in, but I hated having to dole out more money to unlock more parts of the story. I am okay paying a flat fee to buy a book on Kindle, but having to pay per episode was not cool.
I did love the story, even if it was very unbelievable. I guess it is the ultimate woman's fantasy. Finding three hot, Scottish men that fall in love with you and all want to share you together. Still not quite sure how the logistics of it all works out, especially some of the sexy parts, but it was fun to dream the ultimate dream. And all the guys are incredible, they made me believe Charlie was worthy of their adoration.
Now I wish I could read Isla's story because she is one of my favorite characters, but I won't pay per section again.
50000000 star⭐️/5 This book was beyond phenomenal! I loved this story. The character development of Charlie was slow and realistic, unlike some books where the character just randomly changes. I love how she had doubts almost the entire way, but her men guide her through believing in her. The love between them was ethereal and made me undeniably jealous. The whole time I was thinking "God I want to be loved like this." It was also nicely written how each of Charlie's men gave her something. Not only did they bring Charlie to life, but she did the same to them and her friends. Charlie made a home for herself and left the bullshit behind. Queen behavior! I heard there's a part 2 coming (or already out?) about the honeymoon and Isla's adventures, and I'm dying to get my hands on it!!!
Reading this book for the second time now & it’s still just as amazing as it was when I first discovered it ♥️ Charlie, Jack, Lach & Cam are just *chef’s kiss* honestly. I love that the relationship she has with each of them individually are special in their own way and even the dynamic of the group itself has its own somethin somethin LOL. I really loved how Daphne was able to capture 4 such distinct personalities & allow the reader to feel their emotions along with them including the spicy ones 🌶️🌶️🌶️ I cannot wait to see what more stories Daphne has in the works & am more than eager to read them!
Too much all the way around. Too many leaps, too many typos, and just too much.
The story and romance were not my cup of tea, but more importantly, the vestiges of its time on Vella are annoying. It probably made sense for things to repeat at the beginning and end of some chapters in the serial format of Vella, but not so much in this traditional format. It was hugely distracting.
Skimmed the last 1/3 of the book and many of the previous scenes. 2/5 if I'm generous.
This book is smut on top of smut with some more smut on the side. Characters are lovable and the smut is very well written. All the relationships feel genuine and there's a wonderful build through out the whole book. If you're wanting a very satisfying smutty feel good story with some laughs thrown in, then binge read away. #imnotsayingkellyclarkson
