I made a promise to myself the day she strolled back into town causing a scene to never to get caught in the Tilly Trap again. But like all men, I'm weak.

We agreed on ground rules but rumors begin to swirl in our small town of Waterlily Grove. Can we just have one hookup without the town tying us together forever?
Or do I need to take a page from her book and walkaway with my dignity in tact even if my balls are blue?

“Rockin My Muse” is a standalone second chance at love….second chance at a future together. Delilah Shaw, aka Dee, is Country Club Royalty. John Dieslich, aka Diesel, is a caddy at the Grass Valley Country Club and lives in a trailer park on the edge of town. Both from different worlds, but they fall in love. “She laughs, and it sounds like a song. I swear I feel it all the way from the courts, like it’s wired straight to my chest.”

“She’s Daddy’s Girl in a world of rules
and I’m just the boy breaking all of mine.
The country club beauty is my muse.
And I love rocking her all night long.”

Ten years latter and Diesel has everything he wants, except her, thanks to her father. He is a successful musician, front man to his band Blade and playing venues of sixty five thousand fans. For eight years he lived the sex, drugs and rock n roll lifestyle and the lyrics/songs came so easily. Two years ago he gave up sex, drugs and alcohol after a friend in another band died in his sleep, overdosing on that sometimes-lethal combination of prescription and street drugs - now he in a rut. “It’s also the night that the melodies died somewhere between my brain and my fingers. It’s as if a switch flipped inside me.” No new material means less revenue. The record label has hired a consulting team to resurrect Blade.

Chills crawl up his spine as he is about to go on stage….”There’s only one woman that ever gave me chills - Dee.” Unknown to him, the band drugs him, he’s hallucinating, she’s here, Dee is in the crowd! He sees, then she is gone. He wants to sing a song, a song that he wrote ten years ago, for her….”This song goes out to all the girls I’ve loved before.”

“If I did see Delilah and she’s here at this concert, then the life I’ve built on forgetting her is about to come crashing the f**k down.”

Dee is the consultant….”He catches my gaze and in only a few seconds, I recognize him - the only man I’ve ever loved. Diesel? Diesel. My John is on stage as Diesel.” The only person that saw her, not the heiress. Now he is a rock god, raw at the edges and she is not ready for what that does to her. Singing about summer love, their love, his eyes lock on hers, and even from fifty feet away, she can feel the heat of his gaze and the weight of his lyrics. She owes him nothing, he left her. “It was his choice. He didn’t care enough to call or write. And I couldn’t bear the pain of finding out where he went.”

“A half-formed verse stares up at me:
Summer waves and borrowed time
Baby, you were always mine”

“Dee, I haven’t been in love since I was eighteen. I haven’t broken a heart or had mine shredded since then either. Try writing songs without inspiration.” Will she understand? Does she feel the same? Will they get a second chance at love, a future together….”Is this real? Are you Diesel the rock star or John, the boy I fell in love with one summer?”

Once I started reading, I could not put this book down! The story will charm “the pants off you” and leave you going back for more. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story. It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, and physical attraction. You cannot help yourself, you will fall in love with John and Dee. This story will have you hooked the start to the end. From page to page, chapter to chapter, from cover to cover - you will enjoy this beautiful story! This book will not disappoint! Highly recommended 😊

“You feel like a song I never finished,” I rasp. “And this time, I’m writing the ending.”

John (Diesel) and Dee (Delilah) were so young when they met and fell in love, but we are definitely not the brightest when we're teenagers. Him disappearing broke them both in so many ways for so long.

Ten years later she's called in to evaluate his band due to their failing status...only she doesn't know it's him until a ways into the concert. Cue the sparks flying all over again and secrets being revealed...including their child & why he actually left.

I know this is a novella, but I wish we would have had a scene of her confronting her family over what they did. But, this second chance was definitely a cute one. Now for John's brother next.

Thank you for this ARC, Kristin!!

“Rockin’ My Muse”

This was an emotional but sweet second chance rockstar romance. Diesel ran out on Delilah 10 years ago, and he hasn’t been the same since. Delilah shows up at one of His shows, having no idea it is such a blast from her past. Things are rocky between them, but they start realizing their feelings have not disappeared. They reconnect physically but the emotional reconnection is a little slower to come from Delilah’s perspective. Short and sweet and spicy read and relatively low angst. Loved it!

Delilah and Diesel had a forbidden romance when they were teenagers. Now she finds herself having to face him again when she's hired to assess him and his performance as a Rock Star. And after burning bright when they were teenagers, they find the spark is still strong, with some intense secrets on both sides that makes their reconciliation quite the ride...

I loved this quick read, and I'm sure you will too!

I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I'm glad Delilah and Diesel found their way back to each other and their love was still strong. They become a family with their son. I was glad when her parents' actions to separate them came to light.

John or Diesel

A very quick fun read if you like bad boys, bad, rich scheming fathers, lost time and lost loves. Watch all those things come together in a delayed, unexpected reunion that leads to a satisfying and unexpected conclusion.

Sweet love story

Really enjoyed the story - in particular, the way the author provided details and depth to the John/Diesel character. I only wish there had been more depth/details for Delilah and her family. They were solid but left me wanting more.

wow

Wow, just wow! This book was cute and entertaining. Diesel and Dee were likable characters but not very deep. It was very predictable.
