Huck
Two places I never thought I’d be: a church and my little brother’s funeral.
I was the one who was supposed to die first. Not Hayes.
He hadn’t chosen my path. I took lives but Hayes had wanted to save souls.
Yet here I was drinking from a flask, around people that fucking hated me, unable to take my eyes off the fiancé he’d left behind. My brother may have wanted to be a minister but he’d been going to marry a woman with the body of a porn star.

Trinity
It had taken me a while but I’d finally gotten on my feet after my fiancé’s unexpected death. The first day on my new house cleaning job where I would make enough money to pay for college ended with a gag in my mouth, my hands tied behind my back and a gun to my head. Lucky for me I was taken alive while the rest of the household was shot and killed. My savior? My fiancé’s older brother happened to be one of the men who’d murdered my new employer.

I’m now stuck in a house with three men who refuse to let me leave until it’s safe. Huck hates me because he believes I lied to his brother. He humiliates me every chance he gets. But his cruelty doesn’t affect me. I was beaten down long before I met Huck Kingston.

It’s when I’m forced to pretend I belong to Huck in order to stay safe inside his world that the darkness in my soul finds an outlet I didn’t know I needed.

This is porn.... no, sorry, a NOVEL, about ass (h) and ASS (H). I call Trinity ass because this feature of hers is mentioned 2-3 times per page, so it is pretty essential. Of course, she has other important features: her tiny waist and big tits. That's why she's called TRInity. Full package and a bonus: she is a virgin.
She has all the bad luck in the world. I think the author didn't miss anything: mother died at birth, indifferent dad, evil stepmother and brother, bad teachers, sexual harassment, she is framed for some crimes she didn't commit, her fiancee dies, her first day at a new, promising job ends with her kidnapped...
Sex is also a character featured on every page. I found this disgusting. It seems that nothing besides that is happening in the book. There is a flimsy plot if you look hard enough.
Oh, I almost forgot. Trinity is a very good cook and she cooks 5-6 things for breakfast. Every woman does that, isn't so?
I think is safe for me to say that Abbi Glines isn't for me.

Early on there was a bj scene of H with ow bcs he was turned on by the h. Then soon after he said he got 2 bjs from his secretary bcs once again he was hard for the h. He was being nasty after finding out the h used to work at a strip club. Started to call her slut and groped her and then when he was pseudo jealous he gave the h an option to be with one of the men or fake a relationship with him and obv she chose him. After that he groped her and stated that all his men have watched him had sex with other women. All these things felt yucky to me and cheap. Not sure I want to push forward. The h was okay with all these thing and didn't try to set him straight because 'no one would believe me anyway and I loved being groped by him too!'. Yeah, good bye.

I was excited for Huck's story and the author didn't disappoint. This has the same addictive quality as the other books in the series and I finished it in one sitting.

The pull between Huck and Trinity was delicious to read about. Huck was really trying to fight it, but the scenes where he gave in really had me on the edge of my seat. There is nothing I love more than reading about a rough scary guy realizing that he found the one that's it for him. I eat that mess up!

Trinity had a crappy upbringing that left some emotional damage. The flashback about things that happened in her life gave us a good look into what made her turn into the woman we know.

We got a bit more violence here and I feel like that made this mafia seem more real. Give me all the torture scenes. Along with that, we had a few twists here. One I saw coming but was caught off guard by a few others.

As for why I didn’t rate this higher, I needed more from Huck. He treated Trinity crappy for a while, and I feel like he never tried to fix that. They just jumped into a sexual relationship. Along with that, I know these guys don’t talk about their feelings, but if he would have at least hinted to her that it was more than just a hookup to him, maybe she wouldn’t have doubted him so much.

As you can tell, I enjoyed this and think it’s a good addition to the series. The next book is about Gage and I'm excited about it! He makes me laugh and they guys keep talking about how crazy he is. I’m excited to see that side of him and for him to get knocked on his butt by a woman.

*I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

Where to begin ..

Should I start with him getting BJ from ow on page while h walks in on it or after touching h and eating her pussy he fucked ow?

Or, how h trauma was not touched at all in whole book? How it just was on page in detail and then poof it just kinda goes away ? It was badly done!

Their relationship didn’t evolve in any direction. It was pure physical attraction and fucking.

I don’t mind smut book, but if thrown in detailed trauma and then proceeded to have a fuckfest, I don’t dig that.

If done well and put more thought into it , it would have been a great book.

I loved this book so much 🥺 I have no words rn to describe it, it was simply amazing! I loved all the characters except the evil stepmother and brother, but Trinity and Huck were everything and more.

Gage and Levi were such wholesome characters added to this book, I just love how they gave Trinity a home and made her feel safe again. ❤️

Everything about this book was phenomenal if I could give it 10 stars I would!

I thought, for sure, after reading Maddy and Blaise's story Smokeshow and Fireball, with the whole Southern Mafia thing, that I would not be very interested in reading the whole of the series, especially not this hero's story.
I lied to myself.

Huck? The name itself threw me off and his intro in the previous books wasn't that great. However, he grew on me. Big blond Viking, 2nd-in-command, gruff, made Southern mafia man. He was as salaciously promiscuous as all the others in Blaise's immediate brotherhood circle, as it was introduced, and though his family is connected, they all are removed from the mafia, leaving Huck as the only one who embraces "the life."

It turns out family is what gets Huck on a one way track to the woman he'll become obsessed with: his religiously devout baby brother's fiancee, Trinity (the name! IKR).
Smokeshow Scarlettwhf GIF - Smokeshow Scarlettwhf Scarlett - Discover & Share GIFs
Trinity has lived a really bad childhood and adolescence under an absent father, even though he was there, but sickly, leaving Trinity vulnerable and at the mercy of her stepmother's ire, zealous religious punishments, and obviously vicious resentment.
Wire Hangers GIFs - Find & Share on GIPHY
Getting engaged to Huck's brother so young had offered Trinity reprieve, along with Trinity racing out of her childhood home as soon as she hit legal age. But Trinity does not leave unscathed, as her stepmother made sure to build Trinity a reputation as a delinquent and a jezebel, two labels that Huck learns about and wonders why his do-gooder, faithful brother fell for Trinity's charms.

Huck's brother dies and Trinity, who does not give Huck a great impression at the funeral (even though her face and body calls to him), gets herself in a situation that has Huck taking her and sequestering her in his house, under his watch, until he figures out just who Trinity really is. And of course, Huck is a ticking bomb because he develops a growing need to possess Trinity in many ways.
Boys of Brayshaw High (Brayshaw, #1) by Meagan Brandy | Goodreads
Huck and Trinity's coming together is hot, accompanied by Glines' usual combinations: alpha-hole + virgin; dirty-talk + OTT hero possessiveness. Though these books have many repeats and sometimes low on depth-- but more smut (New Adult style), the mix of Southern Mafia families, with generations of power, hierarchy, and tradition (though the world described is semi-vague on the extremities and intricate conflicts of the empire ) will get a reader hooked; and the mafia heroes who are ruthless but goners for their women all offer a quick heady "take-me-away" read, when I'm in the mood. Plus I am a Glines' fan, from her Seabreeze Series.

Extra Note: Huck Kingston is one of several ultimate examples of "touch her and die" among the stories of this series. His revenge is chilling.

There are 4 series of this world: Smoke series (original); Georgia Smoke series (which I feels goes a little darker or the some of the heroes are a bit more unhinged); Mississippi Smoke series ; and the Judgment MC series.

This series is getting more and more addictive! And super hot! I wait impatiently for the next book, then devour it in one day! One abused and broken woman finds a man who doesn’t want a commitment but he turns possessive and protective in an instant. They have a common history: his brother, her fiancee. After his brother died, a chunk of his heart is broken, then when he finds Trinity again, the memories come back with the shoulda, coulda, woulda.

At first he hated Trinity, and as the book evolves he finds out all the ways Trinity is broken. And his hate turns into protection and a need to avenge those who hurt her. What he insists is only sex until he gets tired of it turns into something necessary. The poor guy is falling in love, kicking and fighting it all the way!

I loved how Gage and Levi, so dangerous initially, turn into puppies when Trinity prepares the sumptuous breakfast spreads. The way to a man’s heart is definitely through the stomach because these two guys turn into Trinity’s warriors and defenders against everyone, including Hunk.

I was at turns saddened and angered at Trinity’s past life and the way she was abused, amused by Hunk’s assured affirmations this is only temporary, and laughed out loud and Gage and Levi’s moans as they enjoyed a cinnamon roll. Maddy and Blaise appears and I loved this new image of them, Maddy is a self-assured woman and mother, Blaise a proud papa, very much the leader in the Hughes family. I got a glimpse of Trev and loved him, spoiled but so nice and friendly as always. He was the first one to get Trinity to play and laugh out loud, to Hunk’s disgust.

The story evolves slowly which is perfect. Trinity needs to heal and Huck needs to deal. Their love story needs to develop slowly as both overcome their common history related to Hayes, Huck’s deceased little brother. And Trinity needs to find her happy, which actually never existed before due to her dreary existence. This book was truly riveting and now I can’t wait for crazy Gage’s story!

Huck is one fine man!! He is strong and possessive in the best possible way! The fire in this book was amazing. All the hurt that Trinity experienced is unimaginable. And as always these HOT mafia men take care of anything and anyone who has caused their women harm. I enjoyed the mental health aspect that was shown through Trinity, because let’s be real you can’t go through the things she has and not fall on the floor rocking yourself lost. I love the tight friend group and can’t wait to read more of these books to get each of their stories. As always these books are too short! I could keep reading on and on because I just want more. But so so good!

For fans of Yellowstone and Sons of Anarchy you will love this book. Smoke Bomb can be read/listened as a standalone. This is Huck and Trinity's story. Huck finds himself at church and at his little brother's funeral. Two places he never thought he would be at. There Huck meets Trinity, his brother's fiancee.

On the first day of Trinity's new house cleaning job, she gets kidnapped. The rest of the household was shot and killed. Her savior is her fiance's older brother, who also happened to kill her new employer. Now she's under the roof of three men. Huck hates Trinity, but can't help the attraction he has for her.

I listened to a gifted copy of the audiobook and it's fantastic! Performed in duet narration by Marie Hawkins and Gideon Frost. Both were perfectly casted. They were phenomenal!! Marie is a new to me narrator. I love her voice! The trauma that Trinity went through was so heartbreaking. I thought Marie showed Trinity's apprehensions and timidness very well. Gideon was truly amazing!! His range of voices was exceptional. He had a different voice for every male character. Gideon's portrayal of Huck was spot on. He showcased Huck's possessiveness and protective nature.

I loved the sizzling chemistry between Huck and Trinity. Huck was an interesting character. He did things he wasn't proud of and Trinity had demons she was battling with daily. However together they were made for eachother. Loved Huck's possessiveness over Trinity. In her entire life besides Hayes no one looked out for her. Overall, really enjoyed this one!

Audiobook out now!

Thank you to @sparksflystudios for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

Scorching!!

Trinity has been beaten down most of her life. The things that happened to her make me want to scream. The first time she saw Huck was at her fiancé’s funeral her step mother tries to have him removed.

You need to get that man out of here. I fear he is dangerous.”

“He, uh, does indeed know the family,” Officer Randal said. “That’s Huck Kingston, Hayes’s older brother.”

Through half of this story I really want to smack the heck out of Huck for being a jerk. Until he finally opens his eyes.

I don’t know how to explain it, but it was heartbreaking. She’s been damaged in the past. Go easy on her.”

I’m absolutely in love with this dark mafia series. These men are alpha to the core and to stubborn for there own good. Even though these women’s are innocent they still tame the worst beasts.

“Don’t like waking up and you not being there,” he said when he reached me. His hand gripped my waist and tugged me against him. “I want you in my bed when I open my eyes.”

Gahhh!!! I need these books to be longer, I just want more! I’m completely obsessed with Huck. Like, I’d let this man take me and do whatever he wanted. His possessiveness, the way he just loses it for her… obsessed doesn’t even cover it. And Trinity, what she went through was unforgivable. Truly disgusting. It takes a lot for me to say someone deserves death, but the people that wronged her as a child? Yeah, they can rot in hell. Like the last books, I pretty much guessed everything that was going to happen way before it did, but honestly? I don’t even care. It was still so damn good!

I got this as an ARC and read it in a day. I seriously could not put it down. In the book we followed Huck, Blaise’s right hand man. Trinity was engaged to Hucks brother who suddenly passed making it so she is protected by the family. Huck isn’t sure he can trust her but that doesn’t stop his attraction to her. Trinity has never had much of a family and with all the trauma she’s had from growing up she’s not sure how this will end for her. She feels that there has always been an evil inside of her and she feels it’s confirmed when she realized she’s attracted to her dead fiancés brother. This book was such a good continuation in the series and I’m glad we got to see more into Hucks background.

This is a whole hot mess but I couldn’t put it down. This is Hucks story from books one and two. A lot of the same stuff that was in books one and two are in this one as well. There’re club girls and public sex and a BJ giving secretary, some horses (at least the horses are back), and a traumatized h. Honestly I liked the angst. I liked Trinity. I liked that she was strong despite everything she had been through. It was an engaging read. I can’t say I ever really liked the H but I did like things he did for the h.

Overall: 3.5

I started off this book not enjoying it. But once I got about halfway in I liked it a lot better. I liked book 1 and 2 more but this one wasn’t bad. I wanted Trinity to speak up more for herself in the beginning. I get why she didn’t/ couldn’t but still. Huck was a bit to harsh for me towards Trinity in the first half. Still a steamy read!

this book was probably my second favourite so far. Trinity was a great character and I really enjoyed reading how she overcame her insecurities caused by her horrible childhood. However, I really hated how Huck assumed things about her life because of record and therefore treated her horribly. For me nothing will justify his actions but in the end, their relationship was very cute.

*ALC review* This was my 1st story by this author, and it was not a typical mafia story...but in a good way. Trinity and Huck were MCs that naturally came with their own baggage, but I enjoyed the tension between the two and having this grumpy MMC struggle to recognize his feelings while denying them at the same time (I also love a good "who did this to you/hurt you trope). The narrators did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, helping me connect and care for each of them and begging for them to get their HEA!

Huck and Trinity's book has by far been one of the best for the Smoke Series by Abbi Glines. It could be that I could relate some to Trinity's life, past and present. This author really has a way to capture your attention from the very beginning. Every book I have read from this series, I've had a hard time putting it down. I stayed up A LOT of nights just so I could finish these books. I could read 1 book in a day, just because it left me wanting more, and to know what was going to happen next. I have even gone back and re-read every single one of these books, and she just released them with in the past several months, with still more characters to come out! This is an Author I have loved since the Fallen to Far books with Rush, and the Seabreeze Series. If you haven't read them, you most definitely should!

This story is about Huck and Trinity. Huck is the right-hand man to the future boss of the Southern Mafia, which is Blaise. If you have not read Blaise and Maddy's books, then I would start with them. Their stories are book 1 & 2 and you don't want to miss them. You could get confused on who these characters are if you don't start from the beginning story. You will grow to love every character throughout these books. Each book is on a Southern Mafia bad boy, or as Maddy calls them the "Rodeo Squad" lol. Every book is different in its own way and naughty, but every single one is just as delicious as the last. They will have you ordering the next one in a hurry, or like me, waiting for the newest one to be released. Abbi Glines releases a new one every month. You'll be pre-ordering the newest one and going book crazy until it's released.

Amazing job by the Author on this book. Huck's book is by far one of my favorites, with Levi and Saxton's books coming in close 2nd. Huck can get any girl that he wants. Hell, girls practically throw themselves at him and his friends whenever they come around. So, what is it about Trinity, that keeps her on his mind 24/7. Could it be that she was engaged to his brother Hayes before tragedy happened and he died. Leaving this beautiful girl behind, that was shaped in all the right places. No, he couldn't think like that, not about her. No matter if she turns him on every time, he lay eyes on her. Leaving his brothers funeral that day and going on with his life was what needed to be done. His brother didn't want the life he lived, to be part of the "family." The mafia family that is. Hayes grew up good, with his grandparents who loved him and kept him away from the life Huck lived. It isn't until they are out doing a "clean sweep" job that everyone in the house had to die, and that meant everyone, no witnesses, well except one he wasn't expecting to see.

Trinty had just started he first day as a maid at her new client's house. She knew nothing about them, just that they paid good money, and she could use all the money she could get. Leaving the place, she grew up had been easy, now that Hayes was gone. He was the only thing that seemed to make her happy, even if it was just for a little bit. Trinity had a very hard childhood, one that would break most people's hearts. She was still living in that nightmare, no matter how hard she tried to escape it. It wasn't until she met Hayes. He had become her best friend that she dated. She just didn't understand why he never wanted more to do with her than a few kisses, hand holding and cuddles. Yes, he was a preacher like his grandfather, maybe he didn't believe in more before marriage. Even if she did try more than once, he always turned her down, or changed the subject. Maybe her stepmother was right about the way she looked. It came as a shock when he asked her to marry him. She said yes, but she wasn't in love with him. She doesn't think she is capable of loving anyone. I think Trinity said yes because Hayes was a safe place for her. Even if he knew nothing about her childhood, and even her adult life due to her stepmother Tabitha and her son Roy.

***Warning, if you have triggers due to childhood abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, any kind of trauma in those areas, please read this book with caution!! I have had a lot of traumas in my life and this book did bring up some old memories for me. It is a tearjerker when you do learn about Trinity's life. Plus, this book will have you hating and being pissed at Huck sometimes. He is an ass to Trinity and treats her like complete shit. But in all fairness, he knew nothing of her childhood until later on in the book. So just read with caution, and you will come around to Huck.

Back to what I was saying, Trinity was cleaning a house when she is all of a sudden met with a gun to her temple. Moments away from death she hears a familiar voice that orders Gage to stop and drop the gun. A voice that she had only heard once before at his brother's funeral. She had no clue what was going on, but she was taken from the house, and was in the back of an SUV. Huck had no idea why she was there, maybe she was working for the enemy. Maybe she knew more than she was leading one. Huck had a hard time trusting her, and his attitude towards her got even worse when Trinity's background check came back. He automatically started treating her like a criminal, treating her like trash because he believed she was leading his brother on, and Hayes had no idea what her past had shown. She wasn't good enough for his brother, and his brother died thinking she was a good woman when she wasn't. Everyone else in the house fell in love with Trinity. She cooked every meal for them and was all around a sweet and shy person with insecurities.

Trinity doesn't know what it is about Huck's bad mouth and attitude towards her that turns her on so much. Yes, Huck is described as the Greek God, the Viking throughout the other books. He's tall, muscles for days, with tribal tattoos on his chest and shoulders. Plus, a surprise piercing somewhere, that Trinity ends up loving. So, you can see that Trinity is attracted to him. Why couldn't see have felt like this towards her fiancé when he was alive. Who was she kidding, Hayes never even looked at her like he was hungry, and she was his next meal. He never kissed her the way that his brother, Huck did. When Huck starts to slowly learn the truth about Trinity's past, everyone makes him feel like a dick for treating her the way he did. Regardless she was engaged to Huck's brother, who was a Kingston. Kingston's family and the Hughes went back hundreds of years, and they always take care of family. Trinity had been engaged to a Kingston, so she was family, and would be protected by the family. The question was, would the most important person in her life now become her protector. Was Huck ready to fight her demons? Become that man she needed, or will old ways come back. And if Huck didn't become that man, would someone else in the family step in and step up? Was Trinity willing to give up something she has been hiding from Huck, because she is scared it will chase him away? And once Huck has a taste, will he ever look at another female that way again, or will he get his new favorite snack all the time, and he isn't talking about Trinity's cooking.

You will come to learn more about Gage and Levi in this book and they are just a tag team of fun. They are deadly, don't get it twisted. Gage is psycho and twisted and Levi is just as deadly and messed up. Their parts in the books are just great, Abbi words their lines just right to where you can't help but laugh at them and the way they banter and carry on. Gage knows how to get under someone's skin in a heartbeat, even if it's his own friends. They are raunchy, and sometimes share the same partner at the same time. They loved to whip pale asses with belts and get their packaged sucked way more than enough. The sex in this book is graphic and very detailed... just the way I like it! If you are wanting hot and steamy, with some action thrown in every once in a while, please read the Smoke Series by Abbi Glines. The first book is free on Kindle unlimited, and her kindle book prices are fair for these books. If you haven't read anything by Abbi Glines, try the first book. She always keeps her readers coming back for more. After the Smoke Series, I would recommend the Fallen to Far Series with Rush Finely. Omg, can we say hot and badass. The Fallen to Far series is what I read first by Abbi Glines years ago and had me falling in love with a fictional character, Rush. It is still to this day my favorite books. The Smoke Series though is really close to tying with them. Then try the Seabreeze series. Her books will leave you hot and wanting more. Maybe a little turned on and achy too, or a lot, I don't judge. Books like this are what I love to read. I am a 36-year-old paraplegia from a car accident in 2018. I was not wearing my seatbelt, so I broke my vertebrae in to me Spinal Cord 4x. I cannot express to you how it is to never be able to walk again, to never be able to pee like I use to, and to not be able to feel anything from the waist down. I truly do mean nothing, no feelings. NO more O's if you know what I mean. And I had just learned to start getting them from new partner at the age of 27. My car accident happened the day after my 31st birthday, So I had only been blessed with feeling something so amazing for only 4 years and then it was gone. I miss it and crave it, but nothing I have tried has ever worked. So, I escape into my books of lust, sex, kink, smut, any kind, just to have the words make me feel all hot and bothered, and like I am me again. I can't have the O anymore, but I can imagine through words, those feeling again. Plus, it helps with my pain a lot to. To take my mind off it and other things going on in life. Thank you, Abbi Glines, for making me feel alive again through your words.

once abbi establishes her OTP leads in a series and moves onto the scraps of her universe, we really see her freak flag fly. if you're still reading by this point, it's absolutely not for the expectation of a swoonworthy romance or realistic portrayal of an organized crime ring. so in this book we get a depraved pairing that's primed for that ickiness you want to stop reading but just can't stop out of curiosity of how abbi will write a prince albert. honestly if she could tell this same story with a tiny bit of effort of detail in the mafia/female friendships then i might actually consider a second star. just not in this book specifically, it's not good.

Smoke Bomb is book 3 in the Smoke series, and I loved it from beginning to end. Huck reminded me of Liam with his judgements, but I was able to forgive him quickly. I loved Huck and Trinity together. The letter from Hayes was heartbreaking and explained a lot. This was definitely a winner for me and will go on my reread list.
