I really enjoyed this book! I loved the fantasy elements, the fated mates, and the reincarnation aspects of the story. When the POVs started to shift to the MMCs, I started to get confused; however, after a few chapters, I had mostly sorted it out. By the end of the book, all of my questions/confusion worked itself out. Overall, I recommend and will read more works by this author!

This was quite the unexpected read. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t this.

I’ll admit, the beginning of the book felt rushed. There just didn’t seem to be enough background written for what Emily, the FMC was going though. It all felt too convenient and I still don’t really understand how all the other women ended up in the realm they are all in.

However, as the book progressed, more details of why Emily ended up where she is were revealed and things started to click. The storyline was really good, and I found the book to be very entertaining. A few more details and world building in the first third of the book would make it that much better.

There is also a level of spice I was not anticipating. Be prepared for something a little different. 😉

Overall, this book is an interesting, fast paced, dark fantasy book that is easy and fun to read.

I received an advance reader copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Fantasy romance is one of my favorite genres, but so many stories fail to live up to their potential. It really isn’t easy to juggle world building, character interactions and a good plot in a romance novel format. This book had a potentially interesting, not too complicated world (Viking medieval-ish), a decent plot premise (Oracle vs Evil) and a strong female lead. But the writing was so terrible, I really hated it. The different POVs were all written in the first person, which I generally like. But here, all the voices were the same. Why write in first person if the author can’t be bothered to make them sound different? Then the grammatical mistakes… ugh, you can find one on every page. The writing was very choppy and the scenes did not flow smoothly. The main characters were very two-dimensional and I did not feel at all invested in the romance. I read the whole book just to find out the ending and the plot was quite robust. But it did not make up for all the bad writing.

The Oracle is a tale that is set in a fantasy realm where The Evil One is trying to seek out and destroy Emily. Emily is an "earthborn lawyer," who one day falls into a portal and ends up in another realm where she is "The Oracle." In the beginning, she struggles with her identity and finds solace and love in Olen, her sworn protector. Olen happens to be the son of King Merick, who has spent many years looking for the Oracle and wants her as his own.

This novel has spice, battles, love, heartache, and angst. Those are great ingredients for a hit. There are some grammatical errors, but they don't take away from the story. Some parts are a little rushed, and I would have liked to see more in-depth background for some of the situations Emily encounters. All in all, 3.5 stars, a quick, enjoyable read.

Even though this is number four in the series, you don't have to read the others to enjoy it. As long as you are ready for a spicy read, this book will not disappoint! I love that there wasn't "too much" detail. We got the layout, without getting caught up on what type of trees are in the forest. Anything we needed described came naturally within the tale. Other things were left to our imagination if they were not important to the story. I really feel it took a "cow tools" approach to things and it was perfect.

Now it could be my postpartum hormones but I was crying the last few chapters. (And one in the middle.) This is an emotional ride you don't want to miss.

Fantasy, Vikings and smut 🌶
An incredible trio. Usually fated mates isn't my thing, but I was really into this book. By chapter 3, I didn't want to put it down.

I loved seeing Emily find her feet in this new world and how her character develops over this roller-coaster of a plot.

And Olen 🥹

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5

I truly enjoyed this story ... it was literally NOT what I expected. I went into this blind, but I truly did not know how this story would end.

I loved Emily's character ... I was a little worried in the middle when she realized who and what she truly was. So I am happy that she was using her "human" skills to turn things around in this new realm.

I was not expecting some of the revelations made ... and I am happy that everyone in the end got what they wanted and needed.

I am definitely going to check out more of the author's work ✨️🖤

Excerpt:

The blade that barely missed me lay deep in its chest, and I froze in place until a whiff of musk and vanilla made me breathe again.

Like the pale sky poking through the trees above us, crystal blue eyes bore into mine as the tattoo-covered stranger moved around me.

The instant his throaty foreign tongue made its way into the world, my knees rattled inside my skin as they fought to keep me upright. "Caithfimid dul."

The sole of his worn-out brown leather boot dug into the monster's belly, and with a jerk, the white-haired young man freed his ax. "Bogann siad i ngrúpaí."

An inch at a time, his gaze moved down my body and up again as he pulled his furry coat free of his arms.

The tip of his nose came to my neck, and for reasons I can't explain, I tilted my chin away for him to sniff me as he covered me.

The hatchet slid into the leather straps crossing his chest, and before I could stop him, he had me slung over his shoulder.

Swaying with every step he took, I stared at the ground moving under me as he carried me away. And that was when I understood that the old life I loved so much was over forever.
