What If #4

The Confrontation

Rate this book
Haley has hated Seth since the day they met. Having a mutual friend and working at the same bar makes it hard for her to avoid him. But she gives into her desires for him once a year. Surely it won’t cause any problems.

Seth loves nothing more than to tease Haley. She is the sexiest woman he has laid eyes on, but he doesn’t deserve her, so he keeps her at a distance and enjoys his once-a-year fling.

It isn’t until Haley’s life is flipped upside down that Seth jumps in to help, and their lives begin barreling toward a path they both swore they’d never go down.

But Haley is keeping a secret that she thinks will always be a deal breaker for the man she’s with. Will she learn to trust him enough to tell her secret?

K.M. Ryan is back again with another amazing read in her What If series.

In The Confrontation we follow Seth and Haley, who have a lovely dynamic. They're soulmates but just don't know it.

They equally face their own internal struggles but little do they know they're a lot more alike than they thought.

This story has a trope we love to always read where the man falls first. It's so beautiful seeing how they transition from this loose friends with benefits to so much more.

Haley does hold back and make Seth work but that's what K.M. Ryan is so good at, making the man always fight for if and show that they will always show up when needed.

The story is fun, and realistic in a sense but that makes your heart grow more attached all the more. It's a beautiful story and you should totally grab it and the previous books in the series now!!

It's a nice read! It's funny, it's fluffy, it's quick! If you're in a slump, this book is for you!

It has heavy themes for me such as infertility and the perception of the woman that she is less just because she cannot have kids, but the evolution in the characters we see it's amazing.

The simbiosis that allows Seth and Hailey to grow is beautiful!

I really really liked it!

I adore Haley and Seth. I started this in Vella and when I saw it come out I had to get it. I love the tension that exists between Haley and Seth throughout the year. I yelled and laughed at their interactions and had to keep reminding myself that this was a standalone so that I wouldn't stress about the ending. This was the first one from the series I read and now I'm going back for the others

'The Confrontation' is the fourth book in this series.

With a history of hooking up after the last few Friendsgivings, Haley and Seth have a bit of history as we get into this book. As much as Seth irritated Haley during work hours (they work at a bar together), the spice these two have together is extreme.

"Now, onto the important question. Was the sex good?” Haley giggled. “Honestly? Best I’ve ever had. He’s the only guy who has ever made me orgasm during sex."

I loved how as we slowly unraveled who Seth was, the more I enjoyed him. He had a past that was tough, and he really did his best to make his life now the best possible. He genuinely was a good guy. Plus, you all know how much I love a protective MMC. Seth watched every man who even dared to look at Haley. 🥵

Haley has trauma from her past, and as her relationship grows with Seth, we get a view into her thoughts and motivations.

This book can be read alone, but if you want back stories on the friend group, please check out the other books in this series.

Thank you, K.M. Ryan for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Haley has hated Seth since the moment he first came into the bar. But since he is her best friend's friend there was really no avoiding him. Not at work and not outside of it. He is immature and a playboy, but when one Friendsgiving ends in a sexy interlude, he quickly becomes her naughty indulgence. At least on Thanksgiving. Still, he is not boyfriend material, and she needs to cut her losses sooner rather than later. As sexy as Seth is, their Friendsgiving interludes cannot continue.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoy books by this author. Nothing like a little contemporary romance to spice up your reading pile! This is book 4 in a series, and while you CAN read them out of order, I don't suggest it. Characters from the other books play a part in this one, so it would ruin their stories to know the ends before you begin.

I have been WAITING for Haley and Seth's story. It was bound to happen eventually. They were at each other's throat's way too often in the last book for them not to end up at least sleeping together. All that tension HAD to end up either in the bedroom or with one of them killing the other. My money was on Haley, even with Seth's background.

Still, it was fun getting to know their story and I loved every second of it.

This enemies to lovers romance was funny, somewhat emotional, unpredictable and very engaging. Haley and Seth are attracted to each other from the first, even though they antagonize and rile each other up. They eventually give into their desire for each other then promptly put distance between them again. Neither is ready for a relationship and both have self-worth issues and secrets that haunt them. They hook up a few more times over the years before finally deciding to take the leap and try actually dating with the end goal of a committed relationship. Haley and Seth have finally acknowledged their feelings to themselves and they really want a relationship between them to work, but secrets still need to be revealed, secrets that could change everything between them.

I loved the chemistry and rapport these two have as well as the arguing, the banter and the sexy times. I enjoyed reading their story. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

This book really touched me in ways I didn’t expect.
I was so turned off of enemies to lovers trope as todays authors tend go to extreme lengths to try and stand out with crazy scenes that I swore off this trope. But KM Ryan made me a believer in it again! I will read anything from her, she has such a way with blending real life situations and complex feelings and putting them to paper so the reader can go along on a journey that feels natural, and like you’re just sitting back and reading about your next door neighbors life. As a former foster care social worker, I really enjoyed reading about the experiences and backstory of the angst and emotion that goes into the decision to foster.
The spice is amazing as well! Will be reading all her work now!

Guys! If you are looking for an amazing Enemies to lovers, with some spice and all the good things, please read this book. I couldn't stop reading it, and when I couldn't read, I was thinking about it. Seth is now in my top 3 book boyfriends, and I read alot of books. The chemistry between the two main characters is electrifying.

Both characters have secrets that haunt them. I was yelling at them the whole time to get together and stop being stubborn.

Also, it's on kindle unlimited. It's book 4 in a series, and I'm going back to read the other 3. I can't say enough about this book. 5 stars. Hands down 5 stars.

The Confrontation is book 4 in the What If Series by K.M. Ryan. These books can be stand alones, but the entire series is phenomenal.  I especially LOVE when you get glimpses of the characters in the different books.

Haley ans Seth are easily 1 of my favorite pairings in the entire series. The way they fuss and fight, but genuinely care about each other when it comes down to it is everything. I laughed, I cried ... but this book just made my heart SO happy.

I adore the characters, plot and the world building that K.M. so effortlessly creates. It's so easy to get sucked in, and just become one of the gang! I absolutely could NOT put it down, and just HAD to know what happens next.

Seth and Haley are perfectly matched even with the walls and how they think they are unlovable. Seth falls for Haley first but he can’t give her all of himself. Haley realizes that even after five years and a couple hot nights together that she hasn’t let herself really see Seth. Once she opens her eyes, she’s sure to lose her heart. I absolutely loved this book. I adored how realistic it was for everyone else to see what Seth and Haley had before they even got close to admitting it! Can’t wait to see more from this author!

This was my first read from K.M. Ryan. As soon as I started this story I was hooked, the dynamic storyline kept my attention start to finish. I felt connections to both lead characters Seth and Haley, they are written so raw and relatable. They both have to get vulnerable through this book and both demonstrate personal growth by standing with each other. We watch their relationship shift from enemies to lovers seamlessly and we see the MMC go after what he wants and stops at nothing to get her. This was such a great read and I cant wait to dive into the rest of this series to see what else K.M. Ryan has in store.

It was a very enjoyable read. It’s light and quick. Perfect for getting out of a reading slump. The topics of mental health and fertility issues were a great way to add depth and relatability to the characters. To see them embrace it together and overcome it together was great. The anst between Seth and Haley was next level and I loved the banter that they had throughout.
