Richard Wagner is author of The Gospel Unplugged (published as Rich Wagner) and several books in the For Dummies series, including Christianity For Dummies and Christian Prayer For Dummies. He is also publisher of Digitalwalk.com, a Web site for challenging and encouraging Christians living in a digital, postmodern age. Richard has been an avid student of C.S. Lewis’s works for over 20 years.
I read this book as part of a 9 week study group at my church (I belong to the United Church of Canada). I thought the book was fairly informative, however, I did not care for the evangelical slant of the author.
The author chose to use masculine pronouns and quote from the World English Bible, whereas I prefer the use of inclusive language and the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version of the Bible).
This book was published in 2003, so some of the information feels a bit dated. At least half of the websites the author refers to no longer exist.
I enjoyed the learning and fellowship of my study group, but I don't think I would have read this book on my own.
