I remember reading with Dick and Jane as a young child, finding success and adventure as I turned the pages in those short stories that I read at school. There was something about the pictures in those books, those simple yet colorful illustrations, which sat right in the middle of the pages that told you everything that was printed in the words below. I think these were the first books that I actually memorized as a child. When I came up a set of these books at the library, it was as if I was reliving my childhood. I was actually giddy when I put them in my bag for I no longer have any small children at home but I felt I needed to have them. I needed to reread them and maybe in the future, my grandchildren someday just might relive my Dick and Jane days with me. There’s Puff and Spot, those two animals could get into more mischief than my own lazy cat at home. Mike, Penny, Pam, and the grandparents, they were also included in this 143 page trip down memory lane. I don’t know if kids these days would like these stories but as I was reading them I did notice that I was repeating some of the same words over and over again. I know this is a great reading strategy for beginning readers but comparing these with today’s books, the story lines are sure different.
My daughter and I enjoyed this boom together. She read it aloud to me. Love the progression of easy to hard which helped her on her learning to read journey. She's only 5 and doing wonderfully. She was so proud upon finishing it today. I'm so proud of her!
Love the pictures that go with the stories. I laughed while reading it and disturbed my husband while he was reading a book. Had to show him what was so funny.
Con escenas fáciles de identificar de juegos familiares en el aire libre, este libro facilita el aprendizaje de los primeros lectores en inglés, pero también sirve como lectura para antes de dormir.
