I enjoyed this! I had to read it for work and it was insightful. I would recommend not listening to it on audio like I did. I think reading it physically would offer more takeaways to the reader. I had trouble concentrating to all the tidbits and facts listed. I certainly enjoyed the emphasis that workmates should be like family in a healthy organization!

Life Remodeled is Dr. Chris Lambert’s nonprofit organization founded in 2010 with the desire to help the Detroit community. Life Remodeled began by offering projects similar to the hit TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. First building houses for low-income families and then seeking larger commitments impacting the school districts and larger community. After the success of his own nonprofit, Dr. Chris Lambert sought to spread his success with his book “Next Level Nonprofit: Build a Dream Team + Increase Lasting Impact.”
However, he found other nonprofit organizations weren’t attracted to historically business-guided programs. Nonprofits often boast about operating on another level than businesses for profit and purposefully avoid stereotypical for-profit business solutions, jargon, and programming. But, as Lambert portrays in this book, operating seamlessly, with the best team, at the highest level is still important, for-profit or nonprofit aside. So, using his business acumen, knowledge, and thirst for creating high impact, Lambert developed the Next Level Nonprofit program.
Offering his own team of mentors and guides, Lambert is committed to driving success for all.
Ultimately, team unity + compelling vision + right strategy + disciplined execution = lasting impact. But, as “Next Level Nonprofit” elaborates, there is a great level of detail and deliberation to make this formula a true success.
Despite its target market being nonprofit leaders, I thought many of the concepts and conceptualizations lend well to all businesses, across all industries. In fact, any organization with employees stands to benefit from this book and program.
There are simple changes suggested, such as retiring the word “manager” and using the word “coach.” Or implementing “support” instead of “report” to job roles. I also loved the references to hiring for the “reindeer standard” because while unicorns may not be real, reindeer delivering Santa’s presents evokes a magical feeling, and reindeer exist in real life. So, find the magical reindeer, the caliber of individual that feels fictitious but is real.
Lambert offers not just these tidbits, but also meeting guideposts and examples from within his own organization to help guide leaders to the next level. Every nonprofit wants to make a lasting impact on those it serves. Lambert’s “Next Level Nonprofit” seeks to help readers do just that!

Next Level Nonprofit by Chris Lambert is a solid read, especially for those leading in the nonprofit sector. The book excels by providing actionable guidance, effectively condensing valuable ideas and frameworks from other business and self-improvement resources. While I found its content insightful, I’m not the primary audience and I wasn’t looking for particular actions for an organization, so it didn’t impact me strongly, as it would for a business leader. Nevertheless, it’s a well-crafted, no-nonsense resource for nonprofit leaders aiming to elevate their organizations. Great to have on the shelf, and I could see myself utilizing this framework in the future.

Next Level Nonprofit: Build A Dream Team + Increase Lasting Impact is a short, but important book for nonprofit employees - not just the leaders - to read and read again. I was first virtually introduced to Dr. Chris Lambert when it was suggested that he would make a great speaker for my nonprofit's annual leadership conference. Great isn't the right word though, he's perfect for the conference. This book is further proof of that. After just I think just the introduction I was emailing my boss telling her we needed to focus on what Dr. Lamber calls "next-level excellence." A day after finishing the book, I was at an orientation for new leaders and someone brought up hiring unicorns. I immediately explained why we want reindeer instead. "Lasting Impact" is in the title, and this book has quickly made a lasting impact on me.
I initially rated this book after listening to the audiobook, but am now writing my review after receiving the paperback. I'm a visual person and am very impressed by the layout of the book. The way quotes are called out, matrixes are included and templates are provided it makes it easy to go back and easily review portions you either want to review or take a deeper dive into. This is certainly a book I'd like to read and discuss with my team and senior leaders.

Excellent Strategic Planning and Implementation Process
This is an excellent book and I would suggest reading Traction and Good Strategy Bad Strategy. These two books will provide deeper insights into creating and implementing an effective strategic plan.
