In the sequel to Destiny's Bridge, new lovers Lexington Walters and Amanda Cauble have withstood many things to be together. When Amanda decides to move to Texas for good, she goes back to her family's California home to get the rest of her things, taking Lex with her. Even though her parents have never understood her "lifestyle", they've not exactly fought against it. But when Amanda brings her rancher home with her, all bets are off.
Carrie is a native Texan, born in the Lone Star State in the early sixties. Currently a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, she lives with her partner of 25+ years, Jan, whom she legally married in Toronto in September 2003.
Carrie loves to geocache, as well as volunteer her time with a local animal shelter and rescue group. While she enjoys traveling, she likes to spend most of her time at home with her wife and dogs.
She has written ten books in the Somerville series, and has revised and rereleased them as an independent writer.
Carrie has also written four stand-alone romances and has several more planned.
Chocolate molten-lava cake topped with crème brulee is the perfect way to describe how sweet the second installment to Lex and Amanda's story was. With all the longing looks, petting, caressing, embracing, pats, squeezes, and terms of endearment, my teeth hurt afterward. Fortunately, Carr broke up all the mushy-mush with witty banter, silly sarcasm, interspersed with over confident side characters who thought were big, dominant dogs, only to be knocked down a peg or two by the brute and might I say, sexy Lexie. Amanda was just as impressive with how she could hold her own whenever faced with a threat or negative words thrown her way.
I will be totally honest and say that I was disappointed with all the fade-to-black scenes in the first book, but after reading the second and getting to know Lex and Amanda's relationship better, I have to say that the detailed sex is not needed. These two fulfill me in different ways where I don't need to know what goes on between their sheets. Carr wrote this relationship so well that I get excited to wake up with them in the morning and find out what adventure they'll be embarking upon together without feeling any loss on the intimate details. There were times my heart broke for Lex because she had endured pain and loss from her past and she felt ashamed to share this with her lover. Lex was an extremely strong willed, protective, and stubborn woman with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone she loved, and whenever she was faced with something that took her out of her comfort zone, it broke my heart because to Lex, that meant weakness. We got to watch Lex slowly learn to let her walls down and let Amanda in whenever she felt vulnerable or scared. Amanda was a sweetheart with a fire in her soul and I'm curious to see if maybe we'll see more of that fire from her in future books.
We got to meet Amanda's parents and sister in this story. I envy Carr for writing the kind of characters where you just can't wait to humiliate them and rub their noses in their own proverbial sh*t. Her parents were a piece of work, and at times, I wished Lex would have let them have it, but since she was in love with their daughter, she knew it wouldn't be right. Damn, honor.
This is a series I've come to love and I can't wait to read the next book.
Yeah, another page turner! They are a magnet for problems but love always wins. This series is for sure one of my favorites and, lucky me, I still have a few installements to go. I highly recommend to start this series. You will not regret it.
Sweet Love This is the second story in the Lex and Amanda series and its every bit as good as the first one!! Amanda decides to make Texas her home but her parents have other ideas. Together Lex and Amanda head to Los Angeles to pack up her belongings and to attend a dinner party her parents are insisting she attend. Her parents are awful people. How gentle and kind Amanda came from them is a wonder… The culture shock is an even bigger surprise to Lex than she thought and she just wants to go home but she will never leave her Darling Girl on her own. There are surprises and drama galore, but the love and romance are constant and beautiful. This wonderful book will keep you entertained for hours and make you so happy. The good news/bad news is that there is plenty not wrapped up so the story can continue but it left off in a perfect place. I loved this book and I think you will too!

Dang! Some people are just not fit to be parents!!
I like when I come across a book that’s part of a series ‘cause I get to see what characters I like are up to. Whilst their romance was quick, I can’t help but feel that the relationship between Lex and Amanda is genuine. They’re pretty sweet.
Anyhow, I look forward to the next book.

I love this series. The characters are great and the banter is amazing. I love Lex and Amanda but for me I totally love Martha. I am addicted to this series and slowly making my way to the next book.
Lexington Walters and Amanda Cauble, their story continues with a decision to make Texas their home. This book introduces the reader to Amanda's parents with an intriguing twist. I am interested enough to continue with this series to see where the author leads the reader.
In the second book of the series I gain even more respect for Lex as she has to put up with Amanda’s awful parents. I did really enjoy a piece at the end that her Michael learned about Lex, but I’ll let you read about that. Amanda’s sister and BIL are fantastic and I hope they are in more of the future books.
Another great book by Carrie Carr. My emotions were through the roof at how Amanda’s parents treated them, toxic, but Lex got the last laugh. Family is who you choose, blood relation doesn’t mean they are good for you. The two of them make a great couple.
This series by Carrie L. Carr is well written, intriguing and rather hard to put down. The characters are intense, the settings are real and the story, well it is just amazing. Laughing to crying in 2.4 seconds! What more can one say, just read this series.
It's a lovely story I can't believe Amanda parents they're utterly disgusting a part of me wants Lex to bring them to their knees but she won't hurt her boo like that but jeez. Time to see what's next
The story continues. I liked 1 better. I was expecting much more drama when they went to meet the parents of one mc. But I like both main characters and I like the older people and the new addition of the teen. Happy reading. Off to book 3. Thanks Carrie!
This is an excellent book. I gave the first book four stars, but this one definitely deserves five stars. I can't wait to read book 3. You will find believable likable main characters; the supporting cast includes good, bad, and very human people. Amanda and Lex have to work for their happiness, and you will be fully invested in that progress toward their happiness.
This didnt disappoint at all! Seeing Amanda's California life and much more emotion. Lots of plot twists! I can't wait to read more! It's intense getting to know these characters!
