Single Black Female

Rate this book

Twenty-nine-year-old Cinnamon Brown, bored with the single life, is ready for a loving, committed relationship. Searching for excitement and adventure, she plunges into the world of personal ads, living by just one important rule - never date a married man.

Cinnamon's search for the right match leads her first to Jojo - a walking bundle of testosterone who is anything but Mr. Wonderful - and later to a man named Roman who has everything Cinnamon needs except one critical element - chemistry. Just when she begins to get discouraged, Cinnamon has a chance encounter with the charming and irresistible Mitchell Maine. Absolutely smitten, Cinnamon thinks she may have just found her perfect match. There's just one problem with Mitchell - staying with him will break cinnamon's most personal rule.

Cinnamon's passion becomes too powerful to deny, and despite everything, she makes the risky decision to follow her heart. As she searches for happiness, this single black female learns that in the realm of passion, love can touch us in the most beautiful and unexpected ways.

What a completely waste of time that was. Good thing this book was cheap!
Ugh, love can be blind, but damn this girl makes some bad decisions. I mean really really bad. She's 29 so I thought I'd be able to sympathise with her. But she is just dumber than anyone I've ever met.
She places an ad since there's no internet in this book yet. So first she goes on a date with a weirdo and walks away from him. Okay, I'm with her so far.
Then she dates someone who shows near aggressive tendencies and pressures her for sex and she goes for it (I can't believe it!), but in the meantime she falls for some married guy.
I mean, having an affair is one thing, but if you're going to be the other woman, do it well and DO NOT under any circumstances expect the guy to leave his wife for you. They never do. She gave up her apartment to move in with a married guy she met like what.....three times?
THIS GIRL IS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY STUPID.
Then married guy dumps her and "suddenly" she decides she's madly in love with aggressive guy after all. I mean, what the hell?
That, and the whole book is written like a bad fanfic. And the language....I mean fine, you don't want to use slang words for the male member. But describing it as a "magic wand" and "a banana waiting to be devoured"....uh no, thanks but no thanks.

Good read

I enjoyed the characters in this book. I think every single woman struggling in a relationship will read this book and if they see the red flags will be strong enough to walk away. I’m not single but I enjoyed reading about relationships, friendships and forgiveness.

Cinnamon, a single woman is searching for love but is still yearning for Mr Wrong who broke her heart. Her best friend Sasha is with her own Mr Wrong and doesn't want to let him go. The book follows the two woman in their quest for love.
The characters in the book are quirky but likeable. Unfortunately that also makes them predictable. The story progresses at a decent pace and the author is talented in painting word pictures making it easy for the reader to be drawn into the story. The book was okay. I wouldn't call my friends and suggest they run out and buy it but, I wouldn't discourage its purchase either.
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This book follows the main character, Cinnamon Brown, in her quest for love and to find the right man – who might or might not be her ex, Mitchell Maine. This book was recommended by a friend and I really enjoyed it. Reading it felt like spending time with friends as I laughed along with Cinnamon as she endured some not-so-great dates and yearned to find her perfect man. The book has romance, humor, and drama. A really great read!

Careful what you ask for.

This was a great book. We as women sometime goes for the guy that we can't have. Then when we get it , its not what we thought is was going to be. Then you have the person that was always their but we could not see it because of he's looks or job or car or we seen him as soft. You really have to feel what's on the inside not what we see on the outside. Good read.
