Hope is madness put to good use...

1986. Reykjavik, Iceland.

Brilliant quantum scientist Jakob Arnasson is on the brink of immortality. After years of fervent anti-nuclear activism, he has finally brokered a nuclear disarmament summit between two of the world’s greatest powers: the USA and the USSR.

But on the eve of the talks, Jakob is forced to use his LEAP teleportation device to save his own life — an action that has far-reaching consequences. It resets his memory to the day of his first “leap”, in 1954.

Thrust into a future-altering weekend without any recollection of why he should be there, Jakob’s responsibilities suddenly multiply when the CIA recruit him for a dangerous covert operation to save the talks.

And just as he looks set to lose everything, a much greater threat appears on the horizon...

I write what I love to read - globetrotting, big issue thrillers that are super well researched inside complex plots full of twists and turns.

The result of the above is The Race Is On Series, an idea I had on a trip to Iceland. The first in the series is called LEAP, which tells the tale of a device which has the power to halt global warming. The ensuing race to control the power of this machine continues in:
- Green Ray, Book 2,
- ATOM INC, Book 3, and
- Godwin's Revenge, Book 4, which launches 31st March 2025.

I have also written a prequel to The Race Is On series called MAD which you can download for FREE off my website.

I live in Leeds, UK with the love of my life and our two daughters. It rains a lot in Leeds but that works out well for me - loads of time for research and of course writing!

Mad is the prequel novella to the Race Is on series by O.C Heaton.
It's 1986 and Quantum Scientist, Jakob Arnasson is on the brink of Immortality. After years of fervent anti-nuclear activism, he finally brokered a nuclear disarmament summit between two of the world's greatest powers: the USA and USSR.
But on the eve of the talks, Jakob is forced into his invention 'Leap', but it resets his memory back to 1954. And just as he looks set to lose everything, a greater threat appears on the horizon.
I absolutely loved Mad. It sets up the series brilliantly. It's fast paced and had me hooked from the very first page. The author has obviously done his research for the series. Overall, a brilliant start to the series that I highly recommend.
❤️ Thank you to the author, O.C Heaton for my copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading MAD the prequel to Leap, I found it interesting and I loved having that background information on Jakob. The setting of a 1986 nuclear disarmament summit between the two greatest powers USA and USSR, I found was a great read, the urgency throughout I felt as I was reading and the looming end of Jakob had me hooked. I love how OC Heaton takes his world and creates such a concept that you question everything, the whole premise feels life like, I read this series engrossed and fully attached to what is happening. I love the creativity of it all and the characters, I'm so invested. I also love the facts at the end, those nuggets of information were great. When it comes to this series I can't get enough. I can't wait for book 5.

I recently read Leap which is book one in The Race is On series and proceeded to get the free prequel Mad from O C Heaton’s website (check it out!).

This novella was great for background information relating to things I read about in Leap. Some things made more sense and I liked learning more about Jakob.

I recommend this series to anyone who loves a sci-fi thriller! Watch out for my review of book two Green Ray coming soon.
