Overnight, just before Yule, everything changes in White Haven. A huge snowstorm seals the town, and no one can leave or enter. The witches feel that nothing seems quite right – but they don’t know why.
For those that are trapped outside the town, the risks are all too real. There are inexplicable deaths, an unnatural amount of snow, fantastical ice sculptures, and a magical wall around White Haven.
Reuben, worried about El and his coven, turns to his friends for help - including the Nephilim. All of their investigations point to an unlikely enemy that sounds utterly unbelievable. Until they come face to face with him and are fighting for their lives.
Jack Frost has arrived, and he’s not alone.
But trapped in White Haven, things are far worse. The Winter Queen has determined that winter will last forever – and she will kill anyone who stands in her way.
Especially the White Haven witches.
Midwinter Magic delivers nonstop action, plenty of magic and witchcraft, all your favourite characters, and an icy Yuletide tale! If you love paranormal mysteries and urban fantasy, you’ll love this book!
I'm a writer, a pagan, and a witch, and consequently love all things magical. I write fictional books about witchcraft and the paranormal, and they are jam-packed with fabulous characters, colourful settings, plenty of action, and lots of humour.
I was born in England, in the Black Country, but moved to New Zealand in 2006. I lived near Wellington with my partner Jase, and my cats Sacha and Leia. However, in April 2022 we moved again! Yes, I like making my life complicated… I’m now living in the Algarve in Portugal, and loving the fabulous weather and people. When I’m not busy writing I read lots, indulge in gardening and shopping, and I love yoga.
Confession time! I’m a Star Trek geek – old and new – and love urban fantasy and detective shows. Secret passion – Columbo! Favourite Star Trek film is the Wrath of Khan, the original! Other top films – Predator, the original, and Aliens.
In a previous life I was a singer in a band, and used to do some acting with a theatre company. For more on me, check out a couple of my blog posts. I have also written a blog about how I finally became comfortable about calling myself a witch. It's called Leaning into my Witch.
The book was great. I could not stop reading. The well-known characters had a different kind of enemy. The book was fastpaced and wonderfully written. I read all of the author's book and evertime she gets better. Read this book if you like fantasy. It's worth it.
Everyone loves the beautiful crispness of winter, the white snow blanketing the ground, the freshness in the air. But when winter appears suddenly and ferociously, around Yule, you can bet your bottom dollar that something is wrong in White Haven, something isn't normal. From the thick clouds to the lapses of memory, to the confusion, yep, something isn't right. In fact, White Haven is hidden behind a barrier of snow, ice and fog, impregnable, keeping those on the inside trapped in and those outside, out. And confusing the issue is a strange sighting of a.... something? A something who seems to freeze everything in it's path, whatever that something is. And of course, the gang set about to get to the bottom of this mystery, when they could keep their wits about themselves that is.
Even though this was a slightly different TJ Green read, I love how the process of unravelling the mystery unfolds. We get a whole lot of strangeness happening, a whole lot of strange entities, no, Nephilim and witches are normal in White Haven, what's not normal is the chill, the ice, the snow...and Jack Frost? Nope, not normal! The Ice Queen? Nope, not normal! I love seeing each of the characters, from Blair to El, to Alex to, well all of them actually, even Shadow, ponder, muse over and solve these mysteries. Even when seperated, and this time it's really physically seperated, they rally, they forge ahead and never give up. Their loyalty to one another is sublime, love it. They might not always get on, they might not always agree, but they will always be there to support, to aid, to back each other up when it counts, perseverance should be their motto.
A lovely entertaining and unusual read is the norm from this talented author, for me at least and once again, she didn't disappoint! I love the magic and all the characters. Love this series! Love this awesome world!
A complex story with lots of weaving of witchy threads, taking you on a journey of intrigue, excitement and Magic.
It is Yule and the shops in White Haven have been decorated, their owners all wanting to be the best decorated shop in town. Little do the residents know that there is lots of magic in the air and not all good. When the weather changes, they think it is just part of Winter but their town is under a magical spell and everyone is a prisoner. No way in and no way out.
The White Haven Witches begin to realise when they hear about unexplained deaths and amazing ice sculptures beginning to appear around the town that something is afoot. They soon began to join the pieces together and realise that Jack Frost (who is Fey) is in town but he is not alone, he is with the Winter Queen who has a devious and dangerous plan to take over White Haven for good. A plan which she would benefit from greatly and White Haven would suffer permanently
What I loved about this book are the twists and turns of how the Witches have to deal with the combination of Jack Frost & the Winter Queen and how most of the Characters in TJ’s books joined together, using their individual gifts, to save White Haven from this devastation.
Wow, book 12 and this series just keeps getting better with each book, and I cannot rave strongly enough about how magical and mystical these books are becoming. I cannot have enough of White Haven and it's witches. This time around everyone is preparing for the Yule festivities, however just before these commenced something hit the town, it became engulfed in a massive wall of snow which was impenetrable. A massive castle loomed over the hill and the Queen who was in residence ordered everyone to be present on the day for a big feast, however everyone seemed to be worried and unsure of themselves and our witches forgot who they really were. Furthermore those caught outside the parameters of the town could not gain entry to meet up with their friends. Seems like the Snow Queen and Jack Frost together with their entourage of sprites, imps and other monstrous fae creatures were here and they came with intent. Can White Haven be saved? So many lost their lives and so many others were at risk unless the evil fae doers were stopped before Yule and the turning of the wheel took place. I loved this book so much, it is a real page turner and I just loved the use of the fairy tale characters and those of the seasonal Kings and Queens. Well done once again Ms. Green for this magical book.
I can’t believe that it is Yule already in White Haven. The town is certainly living up to its name. Covered in a thick blanket of snow. However, it soon becomes apparent something is amiss. Striking Ice sculptures dominate the town and countryside alike casting their icy gaze over the inhabitants. A constant reminder of the Winter Witch and her never waning power. It soon becomes as clear as the ice in the statues that she as well as her callous sidekick Jack Frost are in control of the calamitous weather and the unease felt in the town.
This frozen mystery brings everyone outside the frozen town together including the Bude coven in the fight against the bleak midwinter and its creators. The title Midwinter Magic conjures images of cosy fires, mulled wine, feasts, and candles flickering what it doesn’t suggest is the prospect of murder. Yet death has drifted in with the snowfall and the White Haven witches and their friends are the only ones who can stop the cold couple from turning White Haven into perpetual winter. I loved this book, and I can’t recommend T J Green enough her books are stupendous, and this one is no exception.
Midwinter Magic - will hold you in its grip from the beginning till the very last page. Another one from White Haven Witches series by TJ Green but is it?……. This book seems to blend very well with her other stories with all friend old and new making appearances. Love how TJ’s books follow the celebrations of main events in pagan calendar and always managed to focus on one of them. This is an absolute must read, full of action and unexpected twists. It gave me a heart attack few times, made me laugh and cry. It is one of the books you read very fast as you need to know what happens next when at the same time you don’t want it to finish!!! Another masterpiece of witchcraft, myths and legends with a great dose of crime and detective works as well as friendship and a tiny bit of romance. Highly recommended!!!!!
Another fantastic addition to the White Haven series!
When Yule arrives and with it more snow and ice than they've ever seen brings White Haven to it's knees, the witches, Nephilim, Newton and his team and the OPS team all have their work cut out to find out what is happening and who their two malevolent adversaries are.
With exquisite descriptions of the snow and ice I actually felt cold when I was reading because I was so embroiled in the story!
We also learn more about the wonderful characters and their lives which makes me want to visit White Haven and meet them all - especially the Nephilim!
I won't spoil the story but just to say the ending is superb and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if all our heroes working together would be able to defeat the villains.
I can't wait for the next one, but I love everything the author writes.
I couldn’t wait to read more about the White Haven Witches and have devoured this book in a day!
Things start off very differently, with our witches not fully themselves and in White Haven things are not as they should be. I was a little thrown at first, but equally intrigued to see how things would develop…and I certainly wasn’t disappointed! All of our much loved favourites are here supporting and fighting alongside the Witches, to keep White Haven and each other safe from a new threat, more deadly than they have faced before. Everything they know is at risk and needing to know how things will be resolved, and if everyone will survive, will keep you enthralled until the end. (even if that is after midnight and you really should have gone to bed hours before!)
Fantastic continuation of the series. The start was very confusing, much like the characters but soon became clear. TJ has you invested in the characters and stories very quickly. There is lots of intrigue, excitement and danger going on and all of the witches and nephilim work together to get to the bottom of the situation. You get to see the vulnerable side of the witches which just endears them to me even more. I really love these characters they’re so well developed they almost feel like friends. I would move to Whitehaven if I could. I’m so glad there will be more stories in the future. Soon please!
This was fantastic, exciting, full of action and intrigue. Jack Frost, A Snow Queen, The Nephilim, Imps and Sprites, Dragons, throw in the awesome WHW, Shadow of course, our resident Fey, plus the usual police team and the villagers and wow! Yule this year was literally a blast, magic and mayhem coupled with never ending winter and a mysterious castle, a parade and a feast wow! Oh so much in one book, TJ Green is the master of a book you just cannot put down because it is just so, so good. My favourite author by far. You must read this book, you will miss out if you don’t!
Wow from start to finish at first I was questioning my sanity, memory and was confused until i realised this was part of the plot a brilliant clever spin drawing the reader into a confused state just like some of the characters. In this adventure all old and new friends from White Haven are drawn together in clever plot, side characters of you can call them are all developing and coming into their own! Brilliant read TJ I don't know how you come up with ideas for your story lines but keep sharing with us all.
Midwinter Magic is slightly different from previous books in the series and involves the whole cast of White Haven characters as well as some new ones. I’m not going to spoil it by saying more. I expected it to be the finale of the series for some reason but, thankfully, it isn’t. As usual the writing is fast-moving with incredible magic and folklore wound into it, there’s a rush to get to the end and find out how it can all be resolved, but that feeling of wanting to stay in magical White Haven for longer. I love these books and recommend this series most highly.
TJ Green has done it again it was just amazing absolutely amazing. Right from the very start it had me on the edge of the seat, I couldn't put it down. The first few chapters were weird but when you find out what was actually going on, it was like wow really, it was very different from the other books and jump between all the characters all you have the nephilims, shadow, the police, Ghost OPS, Caspian and even Estella working together from one side and the witches from the other. This book bought nearly all of TJ Green characters altogether for one amazing story.
These twelve books are alwsome, you get drawn deep into the characters and story lines , she makes you fell your racing along with the story twists and turns every where, I have already pre ordered the new book out this December 12 I think , cannot wait to read it . Greatest wish she could write more of these brilliant books , I’ve read other books of hers too, all well worth a read . Takes you to a magical place
This genre of book was never in my repetoire previously. However, having been born in Cornwall, I was intrigued. I saved this one for the Yuletide period and was glad I did. I started the series in 2021 when we visited Cornwall for my mother's 80th Birthday; I fell under the spell. I have started the Hunter series, but my favourite are the witches. Lose yourself in the magic.
In this episode of the White Haven witches series, it is almost Christmas. A snowstorm turns into an extreme snowfall and frost appears where it shouldn't An ice castle also appears and the people of White Haven seem to remember it and their ice queen as having always been there. Avery and her coven recognize it as magical and realize that the weather is localized. All of the witches and their friends get involved with trying to remove Jack Frost and the ice queen.
Honestly, this is now my favorite out of the series. Total coincidence that I read this during winter and the imagery in this book was just perfect for curling up on my couch next to a snowy window scene wrapped in my favorite fluffy blanket with a warm cup of coffee in my hand. The story line was fantastic and Tamsyn (wish she was my Grammy) definitely alludes to some future happenings that I am so excited to read about in the next book!
With Yule on the horizon the White Haven Witches are looking forward to all the festivities that are days away. Memories are fading and a strange storm is blowing through. Winter is in full force with Jack Frost nipping at their heels, literally! Familiars are holding strong, the Oak King is prepared to take his seasons with Briar by his side! If you love all things fantasy with a little bit of romance, this series is a must read for all!
Once again the White Haven witches are up to their necks in magic, very very mysterious magic, which challenges them like never before. Starting with the first page, it reels you in, breathless by the end of chapter 2. No spoilers, but put the kettle on and settle down, you’ll need your tea, or something stronger!
I have read this book and giving my honest review. Oh my goodness what an excellent book. Could not put this down, had to keep reading, to the end. So much going magic, witches, twist and turns. Laughed in parts, and a lovely surprise. I really hope you enjoy this book as much as I did: It had everything in it. Not spoiling a must to read .
This is a wonderful story about Winter Magic. It started slow but built to a great finish. So many tales bound together with Winter Goddesses, Jack Frost, the White Haven witches, Nephilim and Shadow. I love that Stan the town Druid is in on the magic in White Haven. Helena is able to manifest and be a part of the fun.
Midwinter Magic is a great book, quite unputdownable! The story gives us all of the characters we have grown to love from previous books in the series. Lots of snow, ice, confusion, magic and mayhem for the friends to contend with…..if they are to save Whitehaven and it’s people. You will love this book, I say it every time but Tj Green has triumphed again. Brilliant!
Just finished reading Midwinter Magic as one of TJ’s Arc team and it’s absolutely fantastic. Fast paced with brilliant battle scenes. Great characters and an amazing plot as all our favourites pull together to fight more enemies who are endangering all of Whitehaven and the witches! You won’t want to put this book down! I loved it!
I was totally engrossed in this book from start to finish. I love the Whitehaven witches series, I think this has been my favourite yet. The mystery build and unravels in a fabulously frosty tale. The description and detail engrossed me, I felt like I was actually in a snowbound Whitehaven. Brilliant, didn’t want it to end.
Marvelous The Snow Queen/Winter Witch has taken over White Haven at the time of the Yuletide parade and feast. Briar and Barak put a wrinkle in the Snow Queen/Winter Witch's plans. Ruben and Caspian face off with Jack Frost and his sprites at Stormcrossed Manor. What a wild Yule celebration ensues.
This 12th installment of the White Haven Witches series was a unique entry. The coven is separated through out much of the story, and must work with various allies & their familiars against new enemies from folktales and mythology. There is a bit less romance than usual, some relationships definitely advance. Looking forward to the next one.
Absolutely fantastic read, I love the evolving stories of the witches and their friends. TJs ability to bring the characters and the town to life is second to none. Perfect for the time of year, I always feel a bit sad when I've finished reading but look forward to more . Fantabulous
I am going to miss the characters. One thing about this series is that the characters change and develop over time. And the situations are more complex, more involved. It’s not the same story over and over again with a different setting. I wish there was more. I want more.
Love all the White Haven Witches stories, just soak them up! It really bring Cornwell to life in my mind also, a place I'd dearly love to see, my mother always loved it and her mother, my grandmother was from there so it's in my blood somewhat also. Truly magical! Can't wait for the next book!
I absolutely loved this book. One of my favourite authors. There is always something new and different happening to the characters and they too have grown and developed so much through the series. I enjoy the spin off seriTTes too and eagerly anticipate the next thrilling installment. Thank you TJ.
