Firsthand accounts of New York City's most notorious cases are told from the perspectives of its elite officers and includes descriptions of the Central Park Jogger case, the Preppie Murder, and the Baby Maldonado case. Original.
Well written and excellently paced this non-fiction story of Detective Thomas McKenna's most interesting case includes "The Preppie Murder" (Richard Chambers) and others. His career as a NYC detective has sharpened his skill at telling a good story. Cases that end in satisfactory solutions and those that weren't so satisfactory are included as well. Having lived in NYC (Manhattan) during the years mentioned I remember seeing and hearing about some of these cases, making for a trip down memory lane. This is a good read and well worth the time.
I really liked this book it just took foreverrrr for me to finish it. That’s on me. I can usually finish a book pretty quick but that’s because each chapter is connected and build on the story. I want to know how those books end so I finish the book pretty quickly. This one, each individual chapter was its own case and I felt “fulfilled” after one chapter 😅 it was really great and I got my fix of homicide. I looove learning about police tactics and live vicariously through books and shows as I could never become a police officer. 🥲
