In her spare time, she enjoys working with stained glass, picture painting, and etching glass, a new endeavor. Many of her other loved hobbies, cross stitch, embroidery, bead work, and diamond painting have fallen by the wayside due to MS.
Living in Israel close to the Mediterranean Sea, she enjoys long walks on the beach and relaxing in a cool shaded area. Fighting MS for fourteen years, she makes sure to engage in new experiences and adventures. Social media is bit of an anomaly for Michaela who has yet to dip her toe in.

Green Flames by Michaela Vitz is an angsty, age-gap romance about learning to trust your feelings.
Sydney is a famous glass-blowing artist. She is frosty, stubborn, and likes to be in control of everything. She has her reasons, as not only does Sydney have Multiple Sclerosis but she was betrayed by her ex-wife.
Samantha is engaged to a man and destined to live a life that is controlled for her. She is a doctor and works at her father's practice, but the promise of being given a partnership keeps getting taken away from her.
When these women meet and get to know each other they start to question everything about the path their lives are on. But trust doesn’t come easily to either of them, and both women are unsure of what their happily ever after looks like. They are scared to look too closely because wanting something you’re not sure about is dangerous.
This is a story about two women who are in very different places in their lives when they first meet. It tackles a lot of issues around prejudice, family expectations, and struggles with trust.
The story's premise is good, and the main characters grow as the story unfolds.
The story is mostly about Sydney a 45-year-old artist who as I mentioned above has multiple sclerosis. You get to see what this means for Sydney and how she deals with her life. Sydney is a great character, she’s strong, fierce, and frosty. She is super successful and has built an amazing business as an artist and teacher. Sydney has some past hurt that affects her ability to trust in people outside of her tight circle. She has an amazing relationship with her sister filled with lots of banter, love, and sometimes conflict. Her best friend, emotional support, and the one being that can ground her is her dog, Sinbad. He’s my favourite side character in this story.
Although the story being told is primarily Sydney’s, you also get other characters' viewpoints, and as the story progresses, you get more from Samantha.
Samantha starts off a little naive, she’s younger than Sydney and hasn’t quite found her place in the world when we meet her. That quickly changes and she finds out who she truly is and what she wants from her life.
There are a lot of threads to the main story, and some don’t quite come together. At some points, the story feels ‘out of step’ with itself. There is also a little bit of head-hopping in a couple of conversations, but I still enjoyed the story and appreciated the uniqueness of this book.
A good debut from this author and as the story ends on a To Be Continued…….. There is still more to come.

An Outstanding Story!
This is a story written about your main protagonist Sydney who is living with MS. A sister, Haley who is her caregiver and main source of support. A ER doctor, Stephanie who is taking in with Sydney and a class taught by Sidney in glass blowing. It takes you on an emotional roller coaster. A book you can’t put down. Leaving a hint there will be more coming.

This is the first book of a duo which I read because book 2 formed part of a Reading challenge I’m doing (Jewish author). The characters were reasonably interesting and the writing was OK; it kept me reading. The blurb issue was resolved relatively swiftly and thereafter it went on to espouse its main themes - the challenges of managing progressive MS, the importance of hydrating and eating, late blooming lesbian love, having lots of sex in spite of disability, non-accepting parents and how to glass blow - it became just a tad repetitive eg. 30+ mentions of Sydney eating, 20+ of her drinking (purely to hydrate) and 7 of characters being ‘starving’ are too many. When certain words or phrases are overused you find yourself looking for them which detracts from the enjoyment of the book as a whole…

Green Flames by Michaela Vitz is a fast-paced journey with dynamic main characters, descriptive details, and bits of humor. Sometimes I found some disjointedness between plot elements but not enough to outshine the overall story. While there’s a HEA for Sydney and Samantha in Green Flames, a few key threads are not tied up which leads us to a sequel which I’m looking forward to reading. If you’re looking for an authentic, gritty, steamy, and sweet story, then I’d recommend giving this a shot.

Michaela Vitz' book Green Flames is a well written novel about a broken heart, an estranged relationship with her mother, and a chronic, incurable illness. Couldn't put the book down. Highly recommend!

Great Book
First Hailey’s kids are adorable as well as Sydney’s dog. Parents are crazy, but nothing new there. Love the main characters and how they feel the pull towards each other regardless of what anyone else thinks. Looking forward to the next book.
