Murder so cold it burns...

He’s a wolf without a pack...
Graphic novelist Aidan Harte writes about the kind of heroes he knows he’ll never be. He’s returned to the forgotten gold mining town of Chatanika, Alaska to scatter his father’s ashes and close out the bastard’s life. He plans to get in and get out without seeing a soul. That is, until things take a deadly turn.

She’s a raven who’s clipped her wings...
Raven Maiski’s thrilled Old Man Harte is dead. But she’s not happy about the return of his son, Aidan—her soul mate and enemy—who promised never to step foot back in Chatanika. If she doesn't run him out of town fast, he'll uncover what she's hidden from him.

When word of the miser’s death spreads, danger erupts in a hunt for gold that will either lead to redemption...or blood.

Shiver is the latest in Tiffinie's series Romance on the Edge. Just when I think they can't get any better they do !

You will Shiver in dread, Shiver in frustration and you will Shiver with desire .

Aidan thought he could make it in and out to finish the last chapter dealing with his father. But that hard hateful man has yet more pain in store for his son. Now as Aidan trapped in the deadly cold, snow falling slowly around him he knows the promise to stay away is about to be broken.
But a promise broken can sometimes set you free and eventually free you to fly.

This was my first book by Tiffinie and now I am truly sorry I waited so long. The story line was extremely captivating, and had me rooted to my chair from start to finish, and the characters gave off just the right vibe to make the story realistic with everything they go through. This is an actual book too, not one of the ever popular, but extremely overdone trilogies, or one that ends on a cliffhanger. It has a start, a middle and a finish!!!!! This is the third book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone with no problems whatsoever! I never once felt like I was missing pieces from previous stories, however now that I have read this one, I will be going back to start from the beginning. A definite must read, and an author I will be watching and waiting for new releases from.

SHIVER is the 3rd book in Tiffinie Helmer’s “Romance on the Edge Series”, but it was so cleverly written, it can be read as a total standalone, while still part of a wonderful series.

In SHIVER, we get a wonderful glimpse into the unique life style of people living in the Interior region of Alaska. The descriptions are so meticulous and accurate, making the readers feel like they have personally visited Fairbanks and the surrounding area. Just reading about the magnificent landscape and the incredible people who live in these lands is an adventure in itself. The visual images that Ms. Helmer presents will leave you breathless.

But the real meat of the story is Aidan Harte and Raven Maiski. Readers met Aiden in book 2, Hooked, where we got a hint of this poor tortured soul. In SHIVER we get to learn just how broken Aidan really is. He is one of the most anguish, flawed and self-loathing hero I have ever read about, yet at the same time Aiden, is intelligent, gentle and one of the most caring, loving Alpha male to grace a story. It broke my heart reading about his anguish as he returns home to settle his late father affairs and seeing the women he loved and lost all those years ago.

Raven Maiski was just as tormented, vulnerable and flawed as Aiden. She was the one who asked Aiden to leave town, never return and now he was back. Raven didn’t know how to handle the emotions that came with seeing him again. The amount of time my heart broke for Aiden, I think I spent being irritated with Raven. She masked her pain with angry and it was all directed at poor Aiden. Raven also struggled with a deep fear, that he would discover the secret that she had kept from him all these years.

If that wasn’t enough angst to keep you sitting on the edge of your seat, let’s throw in a mystery. Someone is out to harm Aiden and no one knows why. Will he find the strength to save himself and the women he loves? Will Raven be able to overcome the past in order to find the truth? Can these two beleaguered souls ever find peace?

Tiffinie Helmer has created a story of emotions, it had excitement, passion, heartbreak, intrigue, mystery and suspense. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to put the book down until you get to the very end!

SHIVER will be an adventure you won’t soon forget.

This is the first book that I've read of Tiffinie Helmer's, but not my last. What an exciting & wonderful story, it will make you laugh one minute and the next minute you have tears in your eyes or you'll go from being angry to being happy or feel sorrow to being giddy like your on cloud nine or sexually frustrated to completely sated. It will make you shiver in the most extraordinary ways, the book name fits perfect. You never know what to expect with each turn of the page and that makes for a well written story. This book is amazing and complex in its own right. So if you haven't read it, my question to you is...what are you waiting for!? I highly recommend this book, please do not deny yourself the pleasures you will receive when reading this excellent story!

Shiver can be read as a stand-alone and the way the author ended this story it could continue or not, but I hope & believe it does! This is the third book in this series, and I have a reading rule to never read a book series out of order. However, I stepped outside of my box with this one, and yes broke that rule with no regrets cause this book is worth it. With that being said, I am going to go back and read the first two books in this series and probably read Shiver again, hopefully before the forth book is released. Wish me luck...lol!

Thank you Tiffinie for writing such an intriguing & captivating read!!! :)

Shiver was pimped (cough) I mean recommended to me by a friends, and dang her hide anyway. She knows There are not enough hours in a day to read all the good books out there, and now I have another author to add to my list!
Shiver takes place in Alaska and gives a wonderful look at the life and culture of Chatanika, a small town near Fairbanks. The first page and grabs hold of you until the end. Shiver provides both external elements of suspense. From a bear trap,a hit over the head, shots fired, kidnapping, murder, mystery and a hidden stash of gold. Then we have the internal suspense, will Aiden and Raven reconcile? Does Fox know who his father is? Will Aiden finally find what he's looking for?
The characters are well drawn. I really felt like I knew them all by the end of the story. The back story was well told and cleverly interspersed into the storyline.
I really enjoyed Shiver and will definitely be purchasing the rest of the Romance on the Edge Series.

LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!

Did I mention I loved it?

I just finished this book and can say Ms. Helmer did it again; another hit! It was odd to me since I really didn't like Aiden in Hooked...at all, but from the moment I started Shiver I just loved him. The heartbreak he experienced while in love at a young age, the lack of love at the hands of his own family, and then the awful memory (and guilt) he will forever live with for the rest of his life for his final actions towards his father, almost brought me to tears. As in the other books in this series, I'm amazed at how the author brings every aspect of the story to life. Almost gives you the feel that you're right there and you're experiencing it just as the characters are. I can't recommend this series enough to readers looking for that perfect combination of romantic contemporary/suspense writing. The only problem I have now is waiting for the next book in the series!

This book left me speechless, breathless, and any other word for just ridiculously in love! Aidan Harte is the perfect anti-hero. He's wounded, smart, talented, driven, and flawed. Watching him become the man he wants to be as he faces the mistakes of his past and the woman he's loved and lost. Raven is funny, strong, and vulnerable and I love her entire family. Good thing we get to read about them all! The tension, the passion, the danger and the surprises kept me turning the pages until the very end. Keep this series going, Ms. Helmer, because I love to lose myself in the wilds of Alaska that you create

The first book I've read by this author and I have to say it will not be my last! Ms Helmer kept me spellbound, sharing every emotion right along with her characters. The action was fast-paced and kept my eyes riveted to the page, at times hurrying, trying to help Aidan or Raven, or Fox. The title is well-chosen, I had to do most of my reading in the evening and I was literally shivering due to the weather outside AND the landscape in the story! An excellent book, well written. Tiffinie Helmer is now one of my favorite authors!

Heart wrenching romance and murder mystery! I loved this story! It is my 5th Tiffinie Helmer book and I've loved them all so far! They have very strong women and hot, strong, silent types for men. But eventually both of them let their emotional sides show! The story will have your chest squeezing for Aidan, you will laugh at Fox and his antics, and wonder how many times Eva will have to patch Aidan up! And now a bit about the story...

Aidan has returned to Chatanika, Alaska - something he promised never to do. With Earl dead he has to clean up his place so it can be sold and then he can forget all about Chatanika. Except nothing is ever as simple as we want it to be. His father has booby-trapped his property and Aidan gets caught in a bear trap. If someone human doesn't find him soon he hopes the cold will kill him before the wolves get to him. Luckily Fox happens to be coming to visit Earl and rescues him. Aidan is taken back to the local lodge where he dreads running into all the people he grew up with. He is a Harte and knows he is trouble. He just wanted to clean up and get out. This is a great story of watching Aidan recover and falling in love all over again with Raven. But there is still a murder out there after Aiden and Raven has her secrets, grab a copy and join the cast of Shiver!

Favorite passages:
- “Don’t go anywhere.” She slammed the door and left. He watched her walk into the entrance of the grocery store. He didn’t like having to stay in the car. He wasn’t a kid, or a dog.
- Besides what was a little physical pain when his emotional pain would have most putting a bullet in their head? He’d thought about ending it all. Had even tried pulling the trigger a few months back, but something had kept him from actually taking his own life.
- "Plus, what Mom doesn’t know, doesn’t hurt me, right?”
- “No.” Raven pulled at his arm. “We need to get you out of these wet clothes first.” He gave her a sardonic look. “Not tonight, honey. I have a headache.” “Funny.”
- Raven grinned. “Once a month, Gran meets with a group of friends who are concerned over protecting the habitat of the mosquito.” “Excuse me?” His brows shot up in disbelief. “They get together and drink Bloody Marys in sympathy of the mosquitoes’ plight.”
- I know you love him. I just don’t understand why you won’t admit it.” The kid was too observant. “It’s complicated.” “So’s math, but I’m making an effort.”

Here's my review....
Absolutely Amazing.....5 stars!

This book is amazing! You won't put it down. I had the honor of getting an ARC copy.....IKR!!!;-). This book has it all....love, drama, family, danger and death. Now you're wondering who dies.....well buy it, read it and find out! Aiden is a man who has always wanted to belong to a loving family and to be the hero. After Earls death, Aiden is forced to go back to Chatanika. He tries to get in and out unnoticed by those he left behind but that didn't happen. Find out what did in Shiver. Tiffinie Helmer is a kick ass author. You will love this book as well as her others. I recommend this to everyone. You will not be disappointed!! This book will rock your socks! Ohh you will also find out interesting things about the other characters from previous books....exciting!!

From the very first scene, I was drawn into Shiver. Aidan and Raven are destined to be together, and even though they seemed determined to stay apart, their love won’t be denied. Ms. Helmer’s latest book is a riveting tale of secrets and passion that kept me reading long into the night. As with all of her books, I highly recommend Shiver.

A great read with wonderful characters. KC, the moose, in Moosed Up sucked me into Ms Helmer's books and I've been a fan ever since.
This book proves that she has what it takes to keep bringing readers back book after book.
The mystery keeps you turning pages and the struggle to deal with the choices made, good and bad, but done out of love give this story real depth and heart.

This is sort of a typical romance in the way the female and male leads bounce back and forth towards and away from each other like rubber bands, but most of the reasons in both of their cases are rather legit. There is a lot of family history, town history and personal history between Raven and Aidan and everyone in the town of Chatanika.

This author definitely knows her settings, characters and culture. A good level of detail no matter the scene but not too much in most cases. It's very easy to picture everything in your mind's eye: smell and taste the blueberry cookies, hear the ice covered snow crunching underfoot, feel the rust and dust covering well used cabin floorboards and bear traps. Yes, it does take place in Alaska, folks. ;)

There are a few love scenes but nothing too graphic. There are some specifics but they're a bit euphemistic. I like more heat and description in mine, but if you like things a bit more left to the imagination, this will be just fine for you.

All of the characters have specific voices and there are a lot of them of which to keep track. Most of the time I was able to keep them all straight. It may have helped that I'd read sometime earlier this year her Hooked (I rated this four stars: better story to me) and enjoyed that. A few of the characters from that get mentioned in this story and then show up in the last quarter of the book. There is also a main story point from that book which influences some actions of several of the characters here. It's all explained, though, so I would say though that you could definitely read this as a stand alone.

Aidan seemed to be a one-man bad luck magnet of rather large proportions, he just couldn't catch a break. It worked the first couple of times, fitting into the story and as a tool to force he and Raven together for short periods of time. It didn't feel ridiculous after that necessarily, but it was easy to see that it was used to fuel his anger.

There is a child in the story (this is fine, no worries) but the initial voice in which he was written made him seem older than what he is. It was only after I remembered the timeline that I figured out his age, which was confirmed in conversation later on. It did feel more accurate as the story went on and we heard more from him.

If you're looking for a well written book, rich descriptions, rather well drawn characters and light on the heat factor, then this is definitely a romance for you. Enjoy. :)

I have been a fan of Tiffinie Helmer for some time now and could not wait to read her latest book. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. It is the 3rd book in this series, but it can easily be read as a stand alone novel. I loved the characters, it had a great plot line and plenty of emotional ups and downs and lots of action. And lets not forget it also had some steamy scenes that could melt snow. I am also convinced I need to pick up pottery and a trip to Alaska might just have to be in my future. I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to many more great books from this talented author.

This was a decent story and I did like it quite a bit but a few things made it difficult to decide between 3 and 5 stars.

1. The h and many of her family and friends seemed to be horrible people and made up their minds without knowing any facts.

2. The H is a black belt in Jujitsu but essentially gets bested by an old man who is not in good shape or health.

3. The 'villain, wha wha what?

4. The H spent too much time whining about his circumstances but very little time trying to correct them.

5. The h hid the H' s child from him and did all that she could to continue to drive him away... based off of the sins of his father. That is an awful thing to do when there is not a significant reason to do so.

The previous characters make an appearance and provide updates on life changes. As u said, I really liked the story and it would have been a solid 4.5 Stars for me but for the exceptions above.

Great read this story when it was first published. It is one of my favorite books of this author. Aidan had such a tough time in the story Hooked, I was very happy Ms. Helmer wrote Aidan and Raven’s story. Put in mystery and murder, kidnapping, wild animals and a family also bringing in characters from her other books. I loved this book.

Shiver

I might have given this book a rating of 4, but I got so sick and tired of the “heroine”, Raven, going back and forth on her feelings! In fact I never really even thought there was anything that bad to make her send Aiden away in the first place. She would sleep with him then wish he would leave. If I had been him I would’ve said “see ya”. She got on my last nerve!

I HATED Aidan in the last book, so you know the story had to be good to win me over. I don’t really think Raven was redeemed at all in this story, she has a lot to make up for, but if Aidan was willing to forgive I suppose we all have to.

This story is pretty exciting and has a great storyline, it’s not just a romance there’s a lot of suspense and action mixed in.

Adien from book 2 of the series has his own story and it is not my favorite trope. I don't like the reunion plot lines. This one worked for me. The hero and heroine needed to grow and change before they could have their happily ever after. For a five star, I would have had more time to get to know their grown up selves.

Graphic novelist, Aidan Harte, has returned to Chatanika, Alaska to clean out his father's house after being gone for a long time. His former love, Raven Maiski is not happy to learn of Aidan's return. She is afraid to risk her heart to him again and she has secrets that she wants to keep from him and from her family. Someone else also wants Aidan to leave and tries to run him off, getting more dangerous as times passes and he remains in Alaska.

Tiffinie Helmer has written some interesting books set in Alaska. I have enjoyed learning about the harsh winters and wildness of Alaska. This book has romance, danger, and secrets. All of which make for an interesting read. This is the third book in her Romance on the Edge series and just as good as the first two.

Another fantastic work by Tiffinie Helmer.

Anyone who has read Tiffinie before will have come to expect fantastically descriptive novels that leave you wanting to read more of the same. This the 3rd book in her ‘Romance on the Edge’ series is an outstanding example of the work. The general story-line can be found through any internet search; what a search wouldn’t say would be that you the reader will be drawn into the lives of the characters, wanting to know them personally and in the case of the two leads Aidan and Raven you’ll think you do.

Definitely one to read if you are reading the series or a great introduction to Tiffinie Helmer.
