Odjurets tid

Rate this book

About halfway through this book I realised that it told about a dark cold, winter and how it affected people's minds and relationsships. It felt wrong because it's summer, but I decided to go on. In the end it was good that I wasn't surrounded by darkness myself while reading. I think it allowed me to see the characters struggles from a different point of view. It is horrible what a dark winter can do to you (luckily there's snow to brighten it up). I've experienced it myself, but to read about winter depression in story-shape was intriguing.

I didn't like how it ended but it was definitely worth reading. Very simple and beautiful language and I liked the pictures or situations Gardell uses to describe what's happening in a character's mind.

Even though I love Gardell and thinks he's an amazing writer and balancer between sadness and joy, this one was just too hard for me to read. Not because it was bad, but because it depressed the shit out of me.
