After ten years as an Army medic, Max Crosby became a bodyguard to stay closer to his family. As a personal protector, there are fewer medical crises, but plenty of challenges and surprises.
The latest surprise? Ilsa Lambert, the curvy Ellington Cove wedding planner with the perpetual smile who handles event details with military precision.
Ilsa is passionate about creating memorable events for her clients, giving them a romantic foundation for lasting happiness. The work fuels her, especially when family drama made her personal happily ever after impossible.
And that drama, in the form of her cousin, is back for another round.
Ilsa keeps her personal life away from her professional endeavors, but her cousin won’t be deterred. Between crashing a wedding and his attempts to break into her house, Ilsa needs protection.
Max might’ve left love and marriage to his siblings, but he won’t sit idle when Ilsa comes under attack. Even if stepping into the breach means getting closer than he should to a woman dedicated to all things romance.
And through it all, they might find that it’s never too late for love.
••• The Never Too Late for Love books are for readers who know that love isn’t just for the young. Dig into this romantic suspense series—perfect bite-size stories packed with passion, danger, and characters you can relate to!
Regan Black, a USA Today bestselling author, writes award-winning, action-packed romantic novels featuring kick-butt heroines and the sexy heroes who fall in love with them. She and her husband currently enjoy the empty-nest life in the South Carolina Lowcountry where the rich blend of legend, romance, and history fuels her imagination.
ILSA’S PROTECTOR is the sixth instalment in the contemporary, adult NEVER TOO LATE FOR LOVE:ELLINGTON COVE romantic suspense series co-authored by Regan Black and Janie Crouch. This is forty-two year old, event planner Ilsa Lambert, and forty-eight year old, Army Medic turned security specialist Max Crosby’s story line. ILSA’S PROTECTOR can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and back story, I recommend reading the series in order as many of the events and characters are interconnected.
Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Ilsa and Mac) ILSA’S PROTECTOR focuses on the building romance and relationship between Ilsa and Max. Ilsa Lambert’s cousin Jacob refuses to take no for an answer, and threatening our heroine means Ilsa is in need of protection. With his latest assignment over, and a vacation on the horizon, Max Crosby volunteers as Ilsa’s private security but Ilsa’s cousin continues to threaten our story line heroine. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Max and Ilsa, and the potential fall-out when Jacob’s threats become deadly and dark.
The world building focuses on Ilsa’s past and her present. We learn about the circumstances leading up to Jacob’s threats, the dysfunctional family dynamics in the wake of addiction and death, and our heroine’s struggles to stay one step ahead.
The relationship between Max and Isla is one of immediate attraction but Max is on assignment, as security for a wedding, and his interest in Isla increase with every encounter. Neither Isla or Max have ever married but a happily ever after appears on the horizon. The lone $ex scene is passionate.
Several of the previous story line characters appear in secondary and supporting roles bringing a sense of familiarity to the current time line.
ILSA’S PROTECTOR is a story of family secrets and addiction, jealousy and greed, threats and intimidation, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and determined.
the never to late for love. Ellington cove Book 6.

Life gets a little ruff. For Gabby but max is there. Will he be able to save her. From the trouble coming her way.
I truly enjoyed this book. So many wonderful books this series...love being back in key west... Perfect short stories.
Key west is such a beautiful place for new beginnings… This charming series has come to an end with the story of Ilsa and Max. Both of them thought love was never meant for them. Ilsa makes everyone else’s dreams come true as The Cove wedding planner. Shes kind and generous and she makes everyone around her feel special. But she’s convinced that her past will ruin her future so she works extra hard to make the happy couple’s day a day they will never forget. Max is a life long bodyguard and a bachelor at heart. He’a come to Key West on a job protecting a celebrity bride. When he meets Ilsa everything changes. The future is starting to look a whole lot brighter. But Ilsa’s past is a dark cloud hanging over them. How will they get past the darkness to see the light? *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Oof! Ilsa just about broke my heart. To have lost so much of her family at such a young age and then have nothing but conflict and problems with the family she still has left. To the point that so much of her life is centered around protecting the people closest to her from her remaining family. I loved Max. He comes in all macho and alpha, then this little spitfire completely bowled him over. I kind of want to go back in time now, because I have a feeling that the stories of his siblings finding their loves could be almost as engrossing as this was. I’m not sure what’s coming next for Ellington Cove, but I hope we’re not done here quite yet. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
I loved finally getting Ilsa's story. As the wedding and event planner for the resort, Ilsa is a big part of the Ellington Cove family. She gets great joy and satisfaction from giving couples the weddings of their dreams. However, she's given up on her dreams of romance thanks to multiple losses and family drama, even though her friends keep trying to fix her up. With all of that, she wouldn't mind spending some quality time with the lead bodyguard of her latest client.
Max is a former army medic turned bodyguard, a job he's done for many years. He's feeling a bit burned out - tired of the constant travel and the frequent drama. He's ready to move on to the next phase of his life, whatever it may be. As he finishes his current job, he is drawn to the wedding planner, whose sunny nature and romantic optimism soothe the cynic in him.
The sparks between Max and Ilsa are evident from the beginning. Ilsa tries to ignore them, preferring to keep things professional with her client's bodyguard. She also avoids romantic entanglements because her cousin Jacob is known for interfering with anything good for Ilsa. The backstory of Ilsa's life and the trouble Jacob causes her was heartbreaking and made me root for a happy ending for her even more. Max can't help his fascination and witnesses Jacob's attack on her.
Max recognizes a potential threat and decides to stick around Key West and watch out for Ilsa while getting to know her better. Ilsa hates the idea of causing trouble for anyone, but between the earlier confrontation and the escalating attacks on her, she realizes she needs help.
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Ilsa and Max. Neither is looking for a relationship, believing love is not for them. Max thought the time for love had passed him by, but the more time he spends with Ilsa, the more he rethinks his position. I loved his protectiveness, kindness, and the romanticism that emerged as he spent time with her. I especially loved that he told her how special, beautiful, sweet, and talented she was. While Ilsa has great self-confidence regarding her work, some underlying self-esteem issues make it hard for her to believe Max could genuinely be interested in her. I loved seeing him get past her walls. I loved the ending and seeing Max overcome Ilsa's fears to give them the future they both want. The hospital scene at the end was terrific.
The story's suspense was outstanding and kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. We meet Ilsa's cousin Jacob early and discover how much trouble he is. Though she hates feeling like she's causing problems, Ilsa quickly realizes that she needs help to deal with him. Max is the first line of defense, and I loved his determination to keep her safe. Ilsa is also an essential part of the Ellington Cove family, and I loved seeing her friends rally around her. I could feel everyone's frustration as Jacob eluded their searches, and the tension built as they waited for him to make another move. The final confrontation and its aftermath was a nail-biter but very satisfying.
The epilogue was fantastic. Ilsa has the love she's always wanted, a new family to be a part of, and a future that looks brighter than she could have ever imagined.
I can't end the review without mentioning Ilsa's dog, Annie. Her sweetness, gentleness, and sheer lovableness remind me of my daughter's three pibbles. I could easily picture her from the descriptions. She is an integral part of Ilsa's life, and I loved how Annie and Max bonded. I enjoyed seeing how Ilsa's friends were also big Annie fans.
I’m not sure, but I think this may be my favorite of the Protector series. Isla may be a loner, but this is her own choice. Her life has been rough, in family loss and tragedy. Isla is a very busy wedding/event planner and has her puppy, Annie. They are happy to live together and be comfortable and content with each other.
Max is a really nice guy, never married and happy to remain a confirmed bachelor. He is from a large family and remains in close contact with them. One of his brothers is a doctor, and Max and the doctor are partners in a gym for boxing. He was brought in from Chicago to be an extra protector for the celebrity wedding venue Isla is working on.
During the big wedding event Isla’s cousin makes an appearance to demand money from her and attacks Isla, prompting Max into action. Thus begins protection for Isla and unfolding the reason why he is there. Since Isla has a restraining order out against Jacob he becomes very crafty in the ways he stalks her to get her attention. No one sees him coming and Isla is the only one in denial of protection. Challenging is an understatement in protecting her at first, until the things he does are life-threatening, no longer stalking or disrupting at work.
There is a comfortable theme around this book, because both of the main characters are settled in life, no pressure to find the right someone and get married. However, the main theme of the series is never too late for love and our writers do not disappoint. We find Isla and Max are attracted to each other and both love Annie. This is the final couple in the Ellington Cove series finding love late in life, so it is bittersweet to finish. Well-rounded series and short, easy read for each book.

This is Ilsa’s story. Readers have already met Ilsa, Ellington Cove resort’s wedding planner, and she has been a mystery since the first time we meet her. In spite of that, she is the perfect wedding planner who devotes her entire life to creating the ideal wedding for every bride and groom. But, she is forty-two years old, doesn’t date and has never been married.
In this book, readers finally learn about Ilsa. Her parents died when she was a young girl. She then had to move in with her uncle and his son Jacob. It was not perfect, but at least she was not alone. Jacob was nice at first. But then he began using drugs, and he has be an addict for years. When his father died, he left all of his money to Ilsa with the instructions that she give none of it to Jacob. He is so unruly and disturbing when he does this that Ilsa is afraid to date. She stays to herself except for when she is with her friends from the Ellington Cove resort.
Ilsa gets a restraining order against Jacob, and secretly moves to Key West. Yet, somehow, he has found her and is bothering her again. Only now, he has become violent and is dangerous to Ilsa.
Max is a Guardian Agency protector in Chicago. His client is a celebrity who is using Ilsa’s services to plan a secretive, private wedding at the resort. At forty-eight years old, Max is “starting to feel the effects” of his physically difficult job. He had planned to move back to Chicago after the wedding. However, Max is attracted to Ilsa and wants to stay a little longer in Key West to spend some time with her.
Ilsa is so attracted to Max that she thinks of him as a “hunky silver fox.” However, she is afraid to get involved with anyone, especially now that her cousin has become so violent. But Max intends to stay to protect Ilsa because she has become very special to him.
This book is also an exciting romantic suspense that includes riveting suspense and lots of non-stop action.
Readers will be captivated by this heartwarming story about two middle-aged characters that fall in love for the first time.
This is the 6th book in the Never Too Late For Love Romantic Suspense: Ellington Cove Series. I love Ellington Cove, and wish it was an actual resort in Key West, because I think it would be a fun place to stay. All 6 books are standalones, most of the characters with in them A) work for The Cove, or B) work for Guardian Protectors who provide security to The Cove. In this case it's both. Isla is the wedding planner at The Cove, and she's been a supporting character in many of the books as she's good friends with the other ladies who are employed at The Cove. Gabby from the 3rd book of the series was concerned that Tony had been involved with Ilsa and all he would say was he helped her with a problem. Well we find out about that problem in this book in a big way, it's her cousin Jacob who is an addict and desperate for money, so desperate that he attempts to cause her great harm that could have lead to her demise if Max wasn't with her. Max has been the head of security for a Starlet who plans her wedding through The Cove. He also works for Guardian Protectors. He was supposed to be going on vacation and re-evaluating his life plan while his charge was on her honeymoon, transitioning someone else to her head of security. He'd planned to go back to Chicago, but when Jacob attempts to assault Ilsa at the wedding, he knows that he can't just walk away from the wedding planner who has caught his interest and leave her unprotected. This entire series are intended to be quick reads, beach reads almost. I think I did read one of them while I was at the beach. Regardless I've enjoyed each and every one of them. I've also enjoyed that the characters are *ahem* middle aged. But isn't 40 the new 30?! :) I received this book as an ARC for an honest and voluntary review
While Ilsa creates the perfect romantic weddings for her clients, she's given up on romance for herself. Having faced loss and family dysfunction, she doesn't see any room in her life for a serious relationship, especially as she enters middle age. She's got great friends and a job she loves in an idyllic setting. That's enough for her, right?
Max, a retired military medic, transitioned to personal bodyguard work after his discharge. His latest client gets married at Ellington Cove, making use of Ilsa's services to plan the perfect day. Max is both attracted to and impressed with the lovely wedding planner. He's not looking for a relationship either, due to his own baggage.
Once his newly married client jets off on her honeymoon, Max decides to take a vacation. However, when a dark presence from Ilsa's past reappears, he'll stay as long as it takes to keep her safe. Max is a great book boyfriend. He's caring, fun, honest and protective. He enjoys his time with Ilsa more than he has enjoyed anyone for a long time. When trouble begins to close in on Ilsa, he gets himself assigned as her protector. Ilsa is self-possessed and intelligent, while still being a true romantic. She's seen too much trouble in her life to have her head in the clouds. It takes her a while to trust that strong, gorgeous, kind Max is truly interested in her. While she struggles to get past her own insecurities, their relationship intensifies quickly, turning into a passionate affair.
The story moves at a fast pace, with a satisfying, edge of your seat conclusion.
Five stars for this later in life romance.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
This one is among my favourites in this series...Ilsa is always doing her best for her customers to give them their special day like they dreamed it however because of her past she does not think she deserve her own happiness. She is not dating despite her friends attempts and spend her time with Annie her beloved dog. I loved annie such a bundle of love and energy. Now she is working on a very high VIP event for the cove and she wants to shine to do so she is working with teh protection detail of the VIP and the lead of that team is Max, a gorgeous man she dreams to spend more intimate time with but won't say a word not thinking it could be mutual.
Max has been working protection detail with the guardians for a long time and while the travels had its appeal at a time now he is thinking about changing job, nhot sure he is still fit for he job or if it's just become too repetitive. When he sees someone threatening the wedding planner, the sweet Ilsa he react immediately and following his guts he ask to become her guardians as he fears the threat is far from over.
I absolutely loved how protective he was but also very attentive to her needs, never pushing and he won Annie over so he was just perfect and bonus point he is not expecting Ilsa to change, move or anything. I loved to hear more about Ilsa's past and it helped understand her better, i kind of admire how she could stay still compassionate after everything she went through
It's really a sweet and cute romance with a lot of action and tension but an excellent one!
I've read every book in this series and was waiting for Ilsa to finally get her book and boy was it worth the wait! Ilsa is the event planner at a high end Key West resort. Max is a protector whose charge is on the island getting married. Max and Ilsa of course spend time together to ensure the wedding goes off without a hitch and in doing so find they are attracted to the other. Both feel that a relationship/marriage would never be in the works for them based on their own past experiences. Ilsa's past, in the form of an unstable family member, comes to the resort and puts her in danger. Max immediately steps up to protect Ilsa and ensure the danger to her is ended. As they spend time together their passion for each other explodes. There were so many elements to this story that were great, a lot of which are shared amongst the other books in the series. Our characters are older (40/50's) and so we get more mature people that don't play games and that don't have perky young bodies. They are more real, at least for me. The novel is short but you get such insight into the characters and great story building that you never feel like its a quick novella. In suspense you either have no idea who the villain is and you are waiting to find out who, or you know the villain and are waiting to see what they do. Here we have the latter type but the suspense of what will happen never dulls. The climactic moment made me hold my breath and then when we get our HEA I wanted to stand up and cheer. A wonderful book I highly recommend.
Ilsa’s Protector by Janie Crouch and Regan Black Never Too Late for Love Series
Ilsa plans beautiful weddings for others ~ the perfect event for someone else. She has avoided marriage for her own reasons but has never really given up on romance. While working with one of her high profile clients she meets an intriguing bodyguard named Max and what takes place next just might see her planning a wedding of her own.
What I liked: * Ilsa: orphaned in her teens, loves her job and location, has had issues with a cousin in the past, guards her heart, loves Annie – her canine friend and companion, well liked by everyone, intrigued by Max * Max: ex-military, medic training, bodyguard, from a large loving family, only single sibling left, believes marriage has passed him by, protective, drawn to Ilsa, on the brink of a life change…or two * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * The older ages of the lead characters * That it was a quick easy relaxing somewhat predictable read without any major kerfuffles between the main characters * Getting to see how characters from previous books are doing
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * Thinking about the impact of addiction and how it can change someone so very much
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

We are back in Key West at the Ellington Cove resort with another entertaining story in a series about strong male and female characters that find love later in life. This time the story belongs to Ilsa Lambert and Max Crosby. Ilsa is the much loved wedding coordinator at the Ellington Cove, who loves her friends and her job. Her one sadness in life comes from her cousin. A man that blames her for his problems and is always asking for money. Max Crosby, a former Army medic, has been working as a bodyguard for the Guardian Agency. He’s decided that after his job protecting the famous client getting married at the Ellington Cove, he’s going to do something else. The attraction between them is evident and when Ilsa’s life is in danger, Max is determined to keep her safe. Will they find their HEA? Will Ilsa find her “new” family made up by friends rather than blood? What will happen with her cousin? This was a good addition to the series. A series in which the stories can be read as stand alone. That said, this reader believes that reading all the stories in the series will make each one more special. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I’ve been so excited about this book because Isla has been one of my favorite characters since this series started. Ilsa is everyone’s favorite wedding planner at Ellington Cove. Ilsa is a woman who loves to make everyone’s big day the magical day they have ever dreamed of. She’s strong, beautiful, resilient, fun and full of life and love. Not many people are aware of the struggles that Isla has dealt with throughout her life. Thankfully she has her big lovable pittie Annie that everyone around the resort absolutely loves and spoils. Max has been with the Guardian Agency in Chicago for years and has wondered what his next chapter in his life will be. Max is brought to the Keys working his longtime client Juliet’s wedding which also allowed him to meet the captivating Ilsa. Max is ready for his vacation once the wedding is over with, however when someone attempts to hurt Ilsa at the reception behind the scenes plans change. This has to be one of my favorite summer reads that is just filled with action, adventure, love, passion, heat and the idea that it’s absolutely never too late for love. I look forward to the next chapter in this series and what these beautiful women have in store for us.

The end to this set of excellent later in life stories, from this author collaboration. Loved seeing each of these pairs come together. Looking forward to the next set of stories.
I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ilsa’s Protector is the sixth and final book in the Ellington Cove Never Too Late For Love series by Janie Crouch and Regan Black. This is the fast paced, WYKYK love story of how Ilsa Lambert and Max Crosby fell in love. It’s a romantic suspense snack of a book and you can finish it in one sitting. It is a standalone so you do not have to read the other five books in the series. But since this is the last book, I recommend that you do read them so you are familiar with the characters and their back stories.
Ilsa Lambert is living her dream in paradise as the highly renowned wedding planner at Ellington Cove resort. She has been watching all her friends find the loves of their lives and secretly wishing that love was in the cards for her as well. Her cousin has made it close to impossible for her to find what she sets out to achieve when she plans the weddings and happily ever afters for her clients. But when her cousin crosses the line and targets those she loves, she knows that she is in way over her head and needs the help of those who love her, her friends and their spouses, the members of the special security team.Never in a million years would she believe that this is how her life would end up and she has no idea how far her cousin will go. But will she be able to accept the help and support from them and a certain silver fox who has decided to be her personal bodyguard or will she push them all away to keep them safe and protect them from the wrath of her cousin?
Max Crosby retired from the Army and has been working as a Guardian Agency protector for the past few years. With Guardian’s home office in the same city as his family, he is able to be around the ones that he loves more and be able to come and go as he pleases without having to run things by someone else. Forever a bachelor is how he imagined his life, until he met the wedding planner for his client’s wedding. As the years go on, he realizes he isn’t a young buck anymore and that he might need to find a new role within the Agency. But when he witnesses Ilsa fighting with a man, he jumps into action to save her and vows to make sure that she is safe and looked after. He never imagined he would enjoy another bodyguard role as much as he is and he realizes that things are different with Ilsa and she makes him want things he never has before. Vowing to keep her and the ones she loves safe is not a job anymore and he will do anything to keep her from harm’s way.
Ilsa and Max’s relationship is fast paced and sparks fly between them when they first meet, but ever the professionals the don’t act upon how they feel. When their client’s wedding is over and done with, the two find themselves in the middle of trouble brewing around them and it seems to be focused on Ilsa. Part of Max’s job as a protector is to find and prevent danger and trouble and that’s exactly what he plans to do for Ilsa. With the extra time they spend with each other in and out of the public eye, things start to heat up and that’s when they start having feelings for one another. But knowing that their time together has an expiration date, will that prevent them from trying for something more real or will it be the push they need to go for what they want?
Since Ilsa’s book is the last book in the series, I am happy and sad that this series has ended. I have loved reading and getting to know the Ellington Cove/Guardian Agency crew and knowing that they all got their happily ever afters is the cherry on top. I highly recommend this series and the other Guardian Agency series (written by Josie Jade and Regan Black) to anyone who needs a quick romantic suspense read and characters to fall in love with. But beware that this series will make you have severe FOMO and make you want to go to Key West and live in paradise along with the crew.
Ilsa Lambert, wedding planner for the Ellington Cove Resort, has made a life for herself after the death of her parents and the loss of her uncle. She had tried to help her cousin, Jason, but after his threats against her, she was forced to file an order of protection against him. When he appears at the wedding she planned for a celebrity couple, it is only the assistance of bodyguard Max Crosby that prevents disaster. Max, a protection agent with the Guardian Agency saw him attack her and was able to get him under control. Attracted to Ilsa and having grown tired of the traveling, Max decides to stay until she is no longer a target. Ilsa doesn’t believe that a man like Max could ever be interested in her, but enjoys the time they spend together. When Jason makes one last attempt to get money from her, will Max be able to save her? Is Ilsa finally going to have the family that she has longed for? A truly delightful romantic suspense series with slightly older couples who just might get their second chance at love. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
This book is sixth book in the second collection of the Never Too Late for Love series. Janie and Regan have done a fantastic job with this series. Ilsa is living the best life she can. She loves giving others their perfect wedding day. Max Ilsa while they are both working. Max notices they Ilsa maybe in danger. Its confirmed when he helps her during an attack. He was supposed to take some time off but he is happy to stay and protect Ilsa. They are is just something about her that makes him want to get to know her. Ilsa is interested in Max but knows that she has to be careful about getting too close. Her life isn’t easy. Max is determined to help Ilsa and make is so she can live freely and how she wants. Ilsa will have decide if she wants to try for something more with Max or continue living like she has been. She was happy but she could have love. She could have what all her friends have found. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it. These characters are fantastic. I love that characters from previous books make appearances in the following books. Regan and Janie have created a magically world. There is romance, danger, mystery, and more. I can’t wait for more books in the future.
Can a confirmed bachelor and a bruised but not broken wedding planner find later in life love? If they're working at The Cove then absolutely! Ilsa's Protector was another quick addition to the series set at the fictional Ellington Cove resort. This story stands alone however many of the previous books characters will be mentioned. Ilsa Lambert is The Cove's wedding planner. She sees the world through rose colored glasses but has had her share of heartache. Max Crosby works for the Cove's management out of the Chicago office. He is here working as a protector for a celebrity that has planned her wedding at The Cove. Max has lived his adult life surrounded by happily married couples however he thinks that he was meant for the bachelor life. When an old relative with issues tries to hurt Ilsa, Max steps in to intervene. As these two get to know each other more they both wonder if they have finally met their match. This was a cute, quick story. Told from dual POV and had low angst, low heat and a HEA.
Ilsa, scores the opportunity to plan a celebrity's dream wedding, and in the process meets the bodyguard, Max. When Max decides to take his holiday leave to stay close to Ilsa, he is the right place to protect Ilsa from her cousin and convince her in a future with him. Max and Ilsa's story was a fun, low angst read. It was enjoyable to read an older couple who know how to navigate communication and relationships well. Fav Quote: "This isn’t the romantic proposal you deserve but I’m done wasting time. Tack on all the hearts and flowers upgrades you need at the wedding. I’ll make up for this as soon as I’m out of here.” Ilsa bent down and kissed his forehead. “You don’t need to make up for anything.” She brushed her lips across his cheek. “You love me. That’s all I need.” He grunted. “Doesn’t feel like the kiss of a woman who just got engaged,” he complained. “Try again.” Exasperated and charmed in equal measure, she carefully touched her lips to his. It wasn’t their most passionate kiss, but it certainly felt like the most important.
Ilsa's Protecter is a great addition and fitting end to the Ellington Cove series. Ilsa Lambert, Ellington Cove's wedding coordinator extraordinaire, finds her happiness by helping couples maketheir wedding dreams come true. She's found that love wasn't meant for her. Max Crosby, Guardian Agency Security, is the lone marriage holdout in his family. He's just never had the time nor inclination but Ilsa has certainly piqued his interest. Recognizing a potential threat to Ilsa he decides to extent his Key West stay in order to keep an eye on her and maybe get to know her better. Ilsa doesn't want to burden anyone much less Max with her her family dynamic but she's left little choice when it escalates. Of course spending time with Max and maybe having a fling wouldn't be a bad. The more they're together the more it just feels right. Max knows once the dust settles he's not leaving Key West or Ilsa.
(4.5) I was waiting for our wedding planner/coordinator's book and it did not disappoint. Ilsa has suffered loss and with her cousin causing problems has determined she get get happily ever after through all the weddings and event. Max is ex military and body guard for a celebrity and an employee of the Guardian Agency. When Ilsa's cousin trys to start something at the wedding, Ilsa puts a stop to it and Max intervenes. Then we are off, for a mature romantic suspense complete with other team members that make it family and with Annie, Ilsa's dog. I really like that the "oh no, I can't become involved" moments were not over extended. This was an enjoyable read that actually had my eyeballs leaking at the end. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Ilsa'sProtector #NeverTooLateForLove #Ellington Cove #ReganBlack #JanieCrouch #CalamitteJanePublishing #bookfunnel
Ilsa’s Protector is the sixth and final book in the Ellington Cove Never Too Late For Love series by Janie Crouch and Regan Black. This is the story of how Ilsa Lambert and Max Crosby fell in love. Ilsa Lambert, Ellington Cove's wedding coordinator, avoids romantic entanglements, because of her cousin, a man that blames her for his problems and is always asking for money. Jacob is known for interfering with everything good for Ilsa. Max Crosby, Guardian Agency bodyguard. Max can't help his fascination and witnesses Jacob's attack on her. Max recognizes a potential threat and decides to stick around Key West and watch out for Ilsa, while getting to know her better. I loved his protectiveness, kindness, and the single love scene, as he spent time with her. Going to miss these duo Authors mature books , great series , thank you so much A must read of all the books in this series Thank you for the arc!
I've waited the whole series for Isla's story! I've loved the who series, but Isla was my favorite. It can be read as a standalone, but characters from the other books have supporting parts.
Isla, the wedding planner at The Cove loves a good love story and happily ever after, but she feels she's living her best life single. Although, all of her friends at the Cove have found their happily ever afters and are encouraging her to find hers.
Max, a former Army medic, now a Guardian protector, comes to town on a protection detail for a celebrity wedding. Every encounter he has with Isla his interest increases. When his protection detail finishes and Isla is struggling with someone from her past, he jumps right in to be her protector and keep her and those she love safe no matter the cost!
I've loved both the NTLFL series so much. It's always nice to know that it really is never too late for love. My only question now is, where are we going for the next set of books?
Ilsa is the Resort’s wedding planner. She has a troubled past, thanks to her cousin. He is back to harass her again. This time he seems to be more violent. Max is the head bodyguard for Ilsa’s latest client. He takes an interest in Ilsa during his assignment. After he witnesses Ilsa’s cousin’s attack, he sticks around after his assignment to protect Ilsa. Even though neither of them is looking for a relationship or even believes in love, they fall for each other. Ilsa is very kind and generous to her friends and clients. She works hard to give them the best wedding they want and lives through the thrill for them. She just doesn’t think she will ever be a bride. Max changes that for her. Max is sweet and tender to Ilsa. He sees the best of her and shows her what she deserves. What a sweet story.
Ilsa has not had an easy life. She lost her parents at a young age. Her uncle who took her in, also died leaving her with everything, including her cousin who's causing her grief every chance he gets. Max is at the Key working as a bodyguard and is fascinated with Ilsa. When he helps her out with her problematic cousin, he decides that he'll stay around to make sure she's safe.
The chemistry is high with these two and soon they're more than colleagues. But her cousin is determined to get what he thinks is owed to him and he will stop at nothing until he gets it. And here is what I absolutely love about this series; nobody is denying help when offered, because our characters know that they need it. This group of friends is what everyone should want in their lives.
I’ve been loving the Never Too Late For Love series and Ilsa’s Protector is yet another hit! I think this may have been my favorite of the series.
We were introduced to a bit of Ilsa’s backstory in Tony and Gabby’s book, and in this book her cousin is back to cause Ilsa problems again. He’s stalking and harassing her and as much as she proves she can hold her own against him, every girl needs a hero sometimes. Max is a visiting Guardian agent who just wrapped up a protection job. He was planning to take a vacation back to his hometown, but after meeting Ilsa he’s enthralled with her, and decides to stay and get to know her – especially when he learns she could be in danger.
As tends to happen in this series, there’s danger, intrigue, and a healthy dose of steam – not to mention love and a happily-ever-after ending! I loved this book and would highly recommend it!
The stories in this series is so exciting to read that I always look forward to every new book and characters. It is another hard to put down book. Ilsa is a Wedding Planner who loves to create a memorable and lasting event for the wedding couples. Max used to be an Army Medic and is now a personal bodyguard. He is single and have never even thought of getting involved with anyone until Ilsa. One day, her cousin showed up whom she does not want to see or deal with. He crashes the Wedding party and breaks into her home. Max is tasked to protect and would do everything he can to keep her safe. Is he able to protect her? Will their sparks fly? Is a happily ever after in their horizon. You will have to read it to find out. I was given a free copy of this book and chose to voluntarily review it.
