I read this book for background for the book I'm writing. Although it provided me with some needed information, the story itself was disappointing. The characters were cliched and the the plot was melodramatic. The times, themselves could have provided enough action and drama without the author's clumsy romances, which actually obscured what could have been a fascinating tale.
