Osprey New Vanguard #104

Cromwell Cruiser Tank 1942–50

Rate this book
For most of World War II, British tank development remained faithful to the design philosophy inaugurated during World War I; but when the General Staff identified the need for a new heavy cruiser, the Cromwell Cruiser tank was designed. I've been familiar with Osprey military books right from their modest beginnings fifty or so years ago, but this is the first time I have ventured into their military vehicle series. With the 'Desert Rats' memorial Cromwell tank in Thetford Forest a familiar sight, this seemed an ideal volume to try and I wasn't disappointed. It's Osprey's usual concise, but detailed approach, well illustrated with photos and brilliant artwork. There's techie stuff in there that doesn't mean much to me, but it tells the story of the development and use of the Cromwell tank and related AFVs. A splendid little book.
