A feast of gorgeous projects, shown on gorgeous kids in gorgeous photos.
At sleep, at play, in the nursery, and on the go, adorable babies need adorable knits. And here are 40 gloriously unique projects that manage to be utterly charming, fabulous, and usable all at the same time. Baby sets and toys; stroller blankets, jackets, and mittens; and a pure and sweet layette are just the tip of the knitting frenzy that is Itty-Bitty Nursery . Picture cute garden mice on an amazing mobile and a knitted clothesline of miniature knitwear adorning the nursery. Coo at the baby sporting a striped hat called "Frenchie" or Mom with her Fruit Loops felted bag. Marvel at the amazing Cupcake Tea Set and the Three Pigs and a Wolf finger puppets, both perfect for the toddler at play.
All of the projects are fresh, lively, and fun. With precisely illustrated instructions, there's something here for every level of knitter, from the greenest beginner to the most experienced craftsperson.
Susan B Anderson has done it again with this fun book. She includes some instructions on how to knit too which will make this book a great resource for a lending library (if you can bear to let it out of your sight). Some of the designs are super easy (squares which are sewn up in various ways to make teddy bears and super cute shoes) to fun and whimsy (a mobile). I really really recommend this book. [note: this book will be published in October 2007. My local used book store often gets review copies and sells them. I buy them and read them. :)]
Terrific eye-candy, but I wasn't particularly inspired to try the projects. I'm glad I chose to borrow this book from the library instead of purchasing it on a whim, as I almost did. Long live the library!
Itty-Bitty Nursery is a follow up to Itty-Bitty Hats, also by Susan B. Anderson. I borrowed this one from my public library in my never-ending quest to find cute (and fast) things to knit for the continually productive (pregnant ) coworkers in my department.
I had knitted (and enjoyed) a couple of the hats included in I-B Hats, and was on the lookout for some coordinating or similar socks/booties/quick projects from this book.
There are a lot of lovely projects here and my goodness, this author knows how to pick gorgeous yarns for her projects. There's Rowan and Manos and Crystal Palace. There's cotton chenille and merino and cashmere oh, my!
I liked that there were other types of projects such as a mobile (with mice, so adorable!) and wipe box cover and blankets and other things. I also liked that this book includes projects that are simple enough to turn even the most timid beginner into a self confident knitter.
I didn't succeed in finding anything which I personally could coordinate with the hats from Itty-Bitty Hats, but I've still got some months before the next crop of baby showers... onward and upward.
Oh, also, the photography is very nicely done and compliments (and illustrates) the projects quite well.
Really adorable pieces for babies and the babies' nursery. I wish I knew of some family at this stage in their life as these projects are perfect for gift giving. Lots of beautiful photos, and very clear illustrations, particularly good if you're a knitting newbie. I can't attest to the correctness of the knitting directions, as I haven't knit anything up from here—yet.
This is such a fun, unique collection of knitting patterns for young children! One of my favorites is the pattern for the three pigs, their houses and the wolf!
My mom got this on whim even though she doesn't know how to knit and I thought it was so cute I had to have it!! Fortunately I had learned to knit a few months prior. The patterns in this book are really cute. Since I have friends and relatives that are having babies from time to time, I figured it would be a very good investment.
This book has many beautiful projects to make. There are cute cardigans and pullover sweaters. Lots of cute toys ranging from a tea set to bears, bunnies, and a couple of mobiles. of course there are a couple of b l blankets and hats. A great book to have in one's library.
Cute without cutesy, easy to follow instructions. I did mess up a sweater and hat combo, but this was more my fault than the fault of the book! I can't wait to make the mice.....and a chicken...
This one is a no-brainer if you own Itty Bitty Hats. Oh my goodness Anderson does cuteness without sugar shock so well! I want to knit everything in this book.
Even though I have no munchkins of my own, I had to purchase this book. Lots of adorable patterns and a whole chapter for the beginning knitter of projects made from simple squares.
I love this book. It has many items that I want to knit for my new grand daughter and for any future grand children. There are a lot of really cute items for the nursery in here.
Itty Bitty Nursery and Itty Bitty Toys both devoured in one sitting. Each has at least two projects I would like to try and I've already started one. Nice series. Good easy to follow diretions.
