: On the cusp of winter, botanist Lorrah Gilden from the Estros seeks out the reclusive Tate to serve as her guide. Lorrah is convinced that the Missourose lies somewhere in the mountains surrounding Tate’s home. The Missourose, fabled to have miraculous powers. If it exists. For Tatum, late autumn means only one thing — her energy is sorely limited. And Tatum has a secret she intends to keep at all costs, yet it’s only a matter of weeks, perhaps even days, until her true nature will begin to emerge. Tatum’s desire to keep her secret makes her a reluctant companion at best, but Lorrah’s optimism proves contagious, as does her dedication to find the Missourose. On a journey fraught with peril, the two women are drawn closer than they ever could have imagined. Will they be able to return to Tate’s cabin before time runs out? Will they find the mysterious plant before it, too, is lost to winter’s grasp?
I liked this one very much. It kept my attention, I liked both main characters (grumpy Tate was hilarious) and generally speaking the story delivered what the blurb promised and more. I'll definitely reread it when the mood strikes.
Simply put: I had fun reading it
My only issue was with the cover, which happens so often in lesbian fiction I should probably stop mentioning it. But this one is one of the most uninteresting ones I've seen in lesfic so far. It's not even that bad, it's just utterly boring and not even aesthetically pleasing. The weird pastel square in the middle is off-centre even though everything else is centred!!!
