THAEIA

I got drunk and did something stupid.

The consequences of a single night of revelry turned out to be deadly. An attack aimed at me cost many their lives—I can still hear the screams after that first explosion went off.

Now I’m on the run.

Enemies close in from all corners … my unknown foe hiding behind pawns. I am strong, my mother taught me to take care of myself. But whoever is coming after me is going for my heart—My friends, my found family.
Nor is a new man, and we have found our way back to the deep friendship of our childhood. Oh, how I’ve missed him. He is stronger and more confident with Valsan’s love and support, and I won’t let anything compromise all he has found and how much he has grown. And sweet Halee, who was always brave, is reaching new heights with her magic and is blossoming in her relationship with Miles.

Then there’s the heir to Alopson. Keir has offered me the protection of his House, and I take it almost as quickly as I fall into his bed. He is a lovely diversion, but even his kind heart and sculpted body can only distract me for so long.

My friends are willing to protect me at all costs, but that is a price I am not willing to pay. The bloodshed must stop, and I am the key—I need to find the answers … Who wants me dead? Why? Is my mother’s past tied to the trouble I’m in now? How did my Void come to be? Am I the only one? Who can I trust?

But I’m terrified to face the biggest question. Will unlocking the secrets of my past actually end the violence, or will it doom us all?

Of Blood & Secrets is book two in an adult high fantasy trilogy with magic, curses, secrets, plots, fantastical creatures, political intrigue, found family, romance, tension as well as lots of cozy moments, and loads of spice.

She has loved reading since she was little, and her tbr list is embarrassingly long, but she’s always looking to add more, so if you have a spicy fantasy recommendation, pass it along.

Another hit from TB Wiese. Please do not sleep on this author. 💜 If you're a fan of anime, magic, magical creatures, and fantasy with some romance/spice- this is for you!

While book one did a great job of setting the tone for the series with lots of world-building, introductions, etc, book two was action-packed!

There is plenty of romance and spice in this one, as well as some wonderfully lovable characters that you can't help but root for as they go through their trials and tribulations.

I am so ready for book 3!

Tysm for letting me be an ARC reader!

Wow. This book will be staying with me for a while. I don’t even know where to start my review. It was just so freaking good! This book starts out where book one left off. It’s action packed from the very first word. And there is a lot going on! Destruction and mayhem! But who are the grey cloaks? Who is the true enemy? Who can Thaeia trust? Let’s not forget the twists and turns that had me on edge! And that cliffhanger!

I fell in love with T.B. Wiese’s writing when I read the Elemental and have been hooked since! She knows how to catch your attention and keep you guessing on what’s going to happen next. You can’t help but to fall in love with their characters. She has become one of my favorite authors and if she writes it, I will read it!

I could not contain my excitement when I received the ARC of this book. I loved the first book in this series and was eagerly waiting for this one. This is my sixth book by the author, and I have loved each and every one of them. I particularly love her writing, as it paints a very clear picture in my mind and immerses me in the scene.

I cannot review this without mentioning some details from book 1, which might be considered minor spoilers.

Summary: We pick up right where we left off in book one. When Thaeia regains her consciousness, she finds that the whole world is hunting her, and she is now in danger. She is also a danger to her gang. Unexpectedly, when Keir volunteers to protect her and takes her to House Allopson, she cannot help but accept his offer. With this close proximity to each other, they cannot help but give into the attraction that has been bubbling between them from the start. While hiding, Thaeia is also trying to find out more about her powers and her identity.
Who is she? And why are these people after her?

Meanwhile, her friends Nor and Halee and the rest of the gang are trying their best to find out who is after Thaeia while also trying to save the rest of the world from going into war with each other.

Writing, plot, and magic system: It is written so beautifully that every scene paints a clear picture in your mind and keeps you immersed in the story. The writing had the feeling of a thread that successfully stitched the story together. The book offers multiple POVs from Keir, Thaeia, and Nor's POVs, which is really enjoyable and helps in understanding the whole plot. I felt this book suffered from the middle book syndrome, which made the pacing very slow and kind of static in the middle part of the book, and all the secrets and twists were revealed at the end.

The magic system developed in this series is fantastic. It is distinctive, and the author has given much depth and logic to this magic system. We get to see a few new powers, and the old ones are explained in a lot more detail. We also see other houses descriptions and customs.

If anyone wants to read this book, they will have to read book 1 Of Spirits and Hope first. And this book, like the first book, also ends on a cliffhanger, which is more terrifying than Book 1's cliffhanger.

Characters:

"You're high maintenance, aren't you?"
Maybe I am, but Valsan doesn't seem to mind. I think he likes managing me.

I loved the whole gang, With Val, Thaeia, and Halee as my favorites. I adored how each character received consideration and growth. Halee's character development was my favorite throughout. I adore the innocence the author gave her and how it shines through in every interaction she develops along the way.

Relationships and Spice:

This woman... She wakes up alone in a strange tent. She stitches herself up and gets herself dressed... all after barely escaping death. I think I'm in love.

"Keir, are you for real? How can you be real? I think I've somehow conjured you to life from one of my romance novels."

Keir and Thaeia's romance and spice are front and center in this book. Their chemistry was palpable from book one, and I loved the moment when they finally gave in. Every relationship is extremely carefully constructed in this book. My favorite part was the layers that are added to Nor and Val's relationship and Nor and Thaeia's, which give the characters and the bonds more depth.

The spice is tastefully handled in all the couples, which is very important to me.

Recommendation: I recommend this whole series to fantasy readers who love a perfect blend of spice, plot, magic, and romance in their novels.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Games are cut short by a deadly explosion and Thaeia very quickly realized someone is out the get her. Keir, the young lord of House Alopson, offers her refuge and to help her escape. At first Thaeia is hesitant because of Saph’s hatred for Keir’s father, but left with little choice she accepts. Arriving at House Alpson, she is quickly hidden away in the private library where she tries to find out more about the void. Keir offers her more of a distraction as Thaeia soon falls into his bed. But she is still being hunted and everyone around her is still in danger.

Wow I'm just left speechless after that ending. I just didn't see that coming and it took me a while to process it. Poor Thaeia. As for the rest, I really enjoyed it. The world and the magic still sucked me in. The characters are all so compelling. And I am so glad that Nor and Thaeia were able to rebuild their friendship. It's one of my favorite things in the book. I am so excited to see what happens next, especially the fallout of the last chapter. Thaeia is gonna burn the world and I can't wait to see it.

Of Blood & Secrets by T.B Wiese is book two in the Forsaken by the Gods Series. After reading Of Spirit and Hope, I knew I would have to read this book! This book surpassed all my expectations, it was so good! This is an adult fantasy that has magic, curses, secrets and some good spice. I couldn’t put my kindle down, I was so invested in this story. T.B Wiese does an amazing job painting a picture of the world that you can easily see while reading. I read this book in one sitting, I couldn’t get enough.

The characters by far are my favorite all of this crazy amount of depth to them. The way they reacted to all the situations were understandable and kind of relatable. My heart absolutely went out to Thaeia… she’s just trying to figure out the secrets of her past, she terrified for her friends…her family. There were times I had to clutch my fingers tight around my kindle. Especially with that ending, I need book three in my life. These books are incredible and should be read!

I got drunk and did something stupid.

What a freaking ride! I couldn’t put this book down. With “Of Spirit & Hope” book 1 I dislike Nor so much for a minute due to the way he treated Thaeia. I thought he was going Thaeia’s love interest but as the story progressed it became clear that it was heading a different way. Now when I started reading “Of Blood and Secrets” book 2. Things were getting very interesting. The book ended in a big cliffhanger and I feel like we didn’t get a lot of answers of the big why, who, what till close to the end of it but it was soooooo good. It’s going to be torture having to wait until the next book comes out but I’m so ready for all the answers. Also side note. I do love the spicy sections between Thaeia and Keir but the ones with Nor and his love interest are freaking amazing and the gravity manipulation power skill during those times O.M.G so HOT!!!!

I'm obsessed with T.B. Wiese's New Fantasy Series, Forsaken by the Gods!!!
Thaeia's life has changed for ever after drinking too much and entering in herself I the games during book 1! Now we get to learn the consequences!! Although it's not all bad, especially the company she kinds herself in 😏😉.
Nor has finally restored his friendship with Thaeia, and he can put his efforts towards being the man he wants to be with Val! 💚
One of my favorite surprises for book 2, is we get a THIRD POV! I won't spoil who it is, but it's so hot! 🔥
This book gave me all the feels: happy, sad, excited and as always super spicy 🥵🌶😏
I'm ready for book 3! But I'll just keep reading these books until it comes out!

Still has me hooked but there are aspects I’m not a fan of. Namely the romance. I mean it’s good, but this story, realistically, only began what? A few weeks prior to this? Nor and Val had 5 years to fall in love with the idea of each other but Keir and Thaeia fell in love in days. Just seems too fast, even for a fantasy book.

Can’t wait to see why thaeia does now that she knows the void can be a weapon.

This book was amazing! I had said the first book was a little slow, but this one was jam-packed with action, spice, romance, and storylines.

The 2nd book in this series reveals a lot about Thaeia's past and there were so many twists, I couldn't predict the ending. Which of course, just leaves me wanting more of the story.

So well done!

I like the magic system in this series and Thaeia as the main character. She's honestly such a badass! But when it comes to the romance I'm not a big fan unfortunately. It just feels too rushed. I would have liked it more if it was at a slower pace. But I will read the third book because I'm invested enough and want to know what will happen next.

So, this just got way better. The issues I had in the first book, namely the characters sounding and acting more YA, is gone. Or maybe I got used to it, but either way, I didn't have any periods where things pulled me out of the story. I immediately started book 3 when this one ended (and got 40% in) and can't even remember what the cliffhanger was to end this one. So good!

Oh my god, that ending. How could you do that to me. Just when you think everything is going to be okay, it all falls apart. I'm still processing what just happened.
It's still an amazing read, lots of emotions, and murder mayhem.
