Surely I can’t fail at falling in love?

Cas
No one ever told me I might meet the love of my life on my knees in a coffee shop.

I’m not one of those people who has everything figured out. I work at my dad’s company because it’s expected, not because I enjoy it. And I may film adult videos at Elite 8 Studios in my free time, but when it comes to my love life, I’m tired of being treated like a plaything.

Jason is different. The blushing barista is demisexual, and unlike most people, he doesn’t care about what’s on the outside. He’s sweet and shy and surprisingly fierce when it comes to me, and for the first time ever, I feel seen.

But Jason has battles of his own beyond graduating nursing school. His health is in question, and suddenly, we have bigger issues than navigating a new relationship.

I never denied being a Himbo, but there’s one thing I know for certain. I’ll go to bat for Jason and me. Because love is worth fighting for.

Himbo is a romance full of first times between a sweetly sincere adult entertainer and the demi virgin who protects him at all costs. There’s a shocking meet-cute, dates that go only somewhat awry, a dash of humor, the best of friends, and one very HEA. It’s book four in the Elite 8 Studios series but can be read as a standalone.

I was going to write the review for this later but then I realized I have a very few busy days ahead so best to do it this evening, lol.

This marks my second encounter with Emmy's writing after thoroughly enjoying 'Fool's Heart.' 'Himbo' belongs to a different series, and although I haven't explored the entire series yet, 'Malibu' is on my list, highly recommended as it is. The fear of missing out is certainly pushing me to explore more.

Initially drawn by the intriguing title of 'Himbo,' I was both excited and apprehensive. Despite not having read the previous books in the series, this one stood out as an intriguing standalone narrative.

What did I find appealing about the book?

Firstly, Cas. He's an immensely endearing character. My only qualm was the constant objectification he faced due to his striking good looks. Despite his profession as a porn star, it made me uncomfortable to witness everyone in the book continually reducing him to mere physicality. Nevertheless, Cas's character remains inherently likable and sweet.

On the flip side, my concerns with the book:

While not being demisexual myself, I've encountered demi representation in other books, where it was handled with sensitivity. Unfortunately, in 'Himbo,' Jason's portrayal as a demisexual felt inconsistent and somewhat uncomfortable to follow. Initially introduced as a shy barista/nursing student who already knows Cas through his pornographic persona, 'Himbo,' Jason finds Cas attractive. Their initial meeting at the coffee shop was adorable and innocent.

However, my main issue lies in the rapid transformation of Jason's character from an extremely reserved virgin to a sexually assertive individual. The shift didn't align with the portrayal of a demisexual. While Jason insists on needing an emotional connection before feeling attraction, his early physical attraction to Cas, even prior to their meeting, felt contradictory to the essence of demisexuality. Their emotional connection felt rushed, lacking the organic development necessary for believability. The chemistry between them seemed forced, and Jason's sudden sexual dominance felt out of place, especially considering his previous lack of experience.

Had the narrative taken a slower pace, allowing their relationship to blossom through friendship and deeper connection, Jason's character as a demisexual might have felt more authentic. However, a few dates and awkward encounters didn't suffice to establish this aspect convincingly. Furthermore, Jason's sudden expertise in certain sexual acts felt implausible and didn't align with his character's portrayal.

While I wish I could have embraced this book more, the inconsistency in Jason's character hindered my enjoyment. I hold high regard for Emmy's writing, having relished 'Fool's Heart,' and I remain eager to explore 'Malibu.' Yet, I yearn for a more thorough exploration of the demisexual representation in future works, hoping for more depth and accuracy in its portrayal.

I am aiming to be honest in my ARC reviews. I realize some people may feel differently about this book but we are entitled to our opinions ARC reviews or not. So please respect that when leaving a comment, thank you!

I received this ARC from the author and this is my honest opinion/review.

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

I don't mean to come off in any kinda way, but this installment just didn't read like any of my previous experiences with Emmy Sanders. Granted I've only read Malibu from this series so I dunno if that’s indicative of the overall tone of Elite 8 Studios, but I really enjoyed that book and ofc Plum Valley has my heart, so this installment was a bit more, I dunno, airy and saccharine I guess, than I was expecting.

Like, this book feels like it’s a response to a bad breakup...a Swiftie clap back in book form, if you will. Sentence by sentence, it was like the literal antithesis of that time, way back when, when you disastrously semi-dated your high school crush. I mean, there's nothing inherently bad here. It's simply the equivalent of annihilating a pint of Häagen-Dazs, singing power ballads at the top of your lungs, after blasting yourself with affirmations while soaking in a melted rainbow bubble bath. Reading Cas and Jason’s love story is like applying a bandaid made of sparkles for a bruised heart.

It basically reads like a checklist of the sweet stuff that puts the sugar in sugar rush. In no particular order:

You get the picture.

It’s sweet, empty calorie cuteness, that I can imagine someone reading and response yelling out into the void after every heart-eyes scene the lovers share: seeeee, [insert ex-bf/gf name here], Jason/Cas gets it!!

So while this isn't my favourite Emmy Sanders title by a mile, and while Malibu remains my favourite of this series so far, I'm actually very curious about Tink's book, and I truly am looking forward to Teddy’s because it should be a riot!

This was a cutie romance, with sweet guys falling in love, who both have wonderful support in their respective friends and family circle who all love and adore them! This series seems like it’s a lot of fun, and I am a fan of Sanders, so I’ll do my best to catch up before the next release and looking forward to everything else to come as always!

This was hard to rate.
I Loved Cas but he annoyed me so much whenever he talked about his family. I would have understood why he had problems with them if they were cold or abusive or uncaring but they loved him and cared for him. I also didn't understand why he hated the fact that his parents loved fancy parties.

"I keep my groan to myself. My parents will love a fancy party in their name. I seem to be the only one who doesn’t much care for the fanfare."

why are you complaining so much?? It's their anniversary not yours. If you want a simple party then wait till it's your birthday or something.

Apart from all that he is a sweet guy who was just looking for someone who will love him for who he is.

“I love you, too,” he says. “So much. If we’re lucky enough to grow old and gray together, I will love you. And buy you cardigans.” I huff a pained laugh against his lips. “And if we have ten years instead of fifty,” he adds softly, seriously, “I will still love you.”

I saw one my Goodreads friends say that Jason is not really demisexual and I can't unsee it. Jason just needed to find the right person.

Jason is generally a shy guy but when it comes to sex he turns into a different person

“What are your thoughts on being rimmed?” My chuckle starts somewhere deep [...] “Hey,” he grumbles without any heat, laughing with me. “It’s your own damn fault. Have you seen your ass?” Oh God. I think I’ve unintentionally created a monster. My monster.

“Hey, Cas.”
It astounds me that this man who can give me shy smiles is the same one who forced three orgasms out of me yesterday. [...] me? Well, I’m pretty sure I’m going to get railed by a monster tonight. Can’t wait.

Cute characters, but not as good as the others in the series.

The spice was great, but I found it a little weird that Jason identifies as demi. Sexuality is perceived by everyone differently, but it felt more like it was just a matter of him not finding the right person, not necessarily being demi.

That issue aside, Cas was ultra sweet, Jason was cutely shy on the streets but a surprising power top in the sheets, and the relationship was heart-warming and tender and mostly drama-free.

Editing to add, now that I think about it, I don’t think the title is accurate. Cas isn’t as much of a himbo as I though he would be. He might not be book smart, but he’s not empty-headed.
Ok, I’m done editing this review now, lol.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

Cas must be protected at all costs!!! My god he made my heart ache, one of the sweetest characters I've read.

I adored the relationship between Jason and Cas. They went from wholesome to filthy and back again and it all felt true to the characters.

I loved Brad, I laughed so hard at the things that came out of his mouth 😂

Favourite book in this series by far but I'm still patiently waiting for Emil...

This book feels like Christmas, even though it's not a holiday story.

Cas comes from a wealthy family but is nothing like his successful parents and siblings. He has a sizable trust fund but isn't interested in anything lavish and expensive. He also doesn't want to work at his father's architectural firm. Cas is kind and gentle, and just wants to do good.

Jason is about done with his nursing degree and works as a barista to make ends meet. He lives with his best friend Brad, who's an absolute hoot and a great supporting character. We find out that Jason is hiding a secret, a scary one. He's also demi, so he rarely feels attraction toward other people.

The first time Cas and Jason meet, Jason sprays whipping cream all over Cas's face. But Cas is not deterred. He wants to get to know the cute barista who wears beanies and has the sweetest smile.

This book works fine as a standalone. I've only read the second book in this series because porn stars aren't really my thing. Cas is doing porn when he meets Jason, but for Cas it's about the support he receives from his colleagues and not a love of the industry.

The relationship between Cas and Jason develops naturally. There's a memorable misunderstanding over a snake that's completely hilarious. I liked how the men talked things out like adults and how Cas never pushed Jason for more.

When to his utter delight Jason realizes he's attracted to Cas, he finds his toppy side. The steamy scenes are very spicy and beautifully written. I could feel the passion!

When Jason finally reveals his secret to Cas, Cas is nothing but understanding and reassuring. Indeed, Cas already knew and was waiting for Jason to tell him when he was ready.

Besides Brad, Jason's bestie, previous MCs in this series make an appearance as secondary characters. This wasn't overwhelming at all though. Those guys are a lot of fun.

The HEA is absolute perfection!

It’s amazing how the best thing about this „porn star series“ are the characters and the relationship development 😬

You’d have thought it’s about sex. And sex. And more sex? Well you wouldn’t be entirely wrong, but tbh I skim/read most of the sex scenes.

What I absolutely LOVED about Cas aka Himbo the porn star and Jason the barrista was their relationship.

Cas is the embodiment of sunshine: friendly, warm, polite and always trying not to hurt people. He loves sex, an therefore his job, even though he doesn’t really need the money: he’s from a rich family, loving parents and siblings, and he’s trying to please his parents, too, by working in his father’s architecture firm - even though he’s not good at it, and he doesn’t love it.

Jason on the other side is a demisexual virgin who’s extremely shy and nervous around people in general (and especially Cas at first). So it’s a bit of an unlikely pairing, right? You might think so at first, but in fact, they’re absolutely perfect for each other. I’m not sure if the switch from blushing virgin to bossy top is realistic, but who am I to judge 🤷‍♀️

I really loved Jason’s pov and his self deprecating sense of humor - in some ways he felt more real than Cas, who was a bit TOO perfect for my liking.

As usual, this author’s books are mostly drama free, which I enjoyed, leaving more room for the relationship. It felt a bit drawn out at times, but still - 4 well deserved stars🌟🌟🌟🌟

3.5 stars, rounding up - I identify as demisexual and often get excited when I see a book has a character who identifies the same way, or is unsure but discovers along the course of the book that they might be demi. It happens more often these days, particularly in mm, which I read a fair amount of. It makes a certain sense that it would show up more in gay romance, as demisexuality can be perceived in straight romance as one or both of the MCs being ‘picky’ about who they date. I’d love to read some mf and sapphic romances that have this rep, but I haven’t encountered many.

That being said, it’s still a bit tricky to find demi rep that feels authentic and organic. This book didn’t always ring true to my experiences or make sense to me, but I did have a good time with it, overall.

I can see what the the author was going for, an unbelievably hot porn star who makes everyone lose their minds with how gorgeous he is, and a decent looking guy who doesn’t often feel sexual attraction to anyone. So, Cas isn’t going to feel like Jason only likes him for his looks and/or his side gig making porn. And Jason sees past his facade to the sweet and thoughtful person he is, who has been ignored and belittled for not being book smart.

I really like that premise; I just wish we’d gotten more of it before they started banging left right and center. For everything that felt good and correct there was something that one of them does that feels not quite right. (Like, there’s a bit where Jason says he’s had relationships before, but from the description it would be more accurate and relatable to say he’s dated people before. Small distinction, but one that wouldn’t have pulled me out.) It's so close to being there, and it was often stuff that could be fixed with a different word choice or minimal editing, which is what made me a bit frustrated.

I think we needed more of Jason being a bit clueless about things. He’s noticing Cas’s ‘dick print’ on their first date, and while he does notice Cas’s other qualities, there is a lot and I mean a LOT of talking about how hot Cas is and objectifying him, to some degree. (This is addressed in the latter half of the book, perhaps not to my total satisfaction, but I was happy to see it was noted.)

I’m tempted to call this a sunshine/sunshine romance, and that was the part I liked the best, how kind they were to each other, caring about how their days went, talking to each other and being open (even if occasionally it sounded a bit too implausible or instructive; I’m happy to let that slide.)

Cas was a bit too perfect, but I wasn’t totally mad at it. He’s called Himbo bc an ex sent him the casting call for Elite 8 looking for one as part of his breakup email, which yowch, that is ROUGH - Jason is very 'I AM DEMI' from the first or second chapter, which could be true in this day and age of limitless corners of the internet to find what represents you. But he also feels very attracted to Cas from the start and I wish there had been a bit of time when we got some more musings from him on the situation.

I didn't have the same issue with this book that I did with Meet Me in the Blue by A.M. Johnson, bc I really felt like the demi MC in MMitB would be sad and alone forever (emphasis on the sad, alone is fine if you're fine with it) if it didn't work out with his childhood best friend. Here, Jason had a platonic bff and other supports that made me feel like he wasn't pinning everything on romantic love (which, it's a romance, I get it, but the comparison came to my mind when I was thinking about how to review this.)

In summary, I think the demi rep could have been more depicted with a little more nuance, but overall I had a fun time and I appreciated that there was a bit of a twist with an external/internal conflict (genes vs. man) and could understand why Jason didn't tell Cas for so long. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and plan to continue.

This is book four of Emmy Sanders Elite 8 Studios series. Every single book I’ve read by Emmy has been outstanding, this one is as well.

MM Romance
Porn Star
Virgin MC
Demi Rep
Protective
First Times
Found Family
Hurt/Comfort
Barista/Nursing Student

I expected no less than to be blow away by Himbo and this book did not disappoint. I have laughed, I have cried and I have cursed Simon to no end.

From meeting snakes, to falling in love, Himbo leaves a lasting effect. Whether that’s secondhand embarrassment, tears or laughter, I guess it’s up to the reader. I know I experience all three while reading this.

Everyone needs a friend like Alex and Brad in their life. Got to have those meddling friends. 🤣

Honestly, the support, love and general affection you easily pick up in this book is some of the best I’ve read. Emmy has a true talent and I’m so excited for the next book.

Emmy thank you so much for allowing me to read this ARC for you. This is my honest opinion.

4.5 stars. First of all I want to mention this cover. It is beautiful!! Love it so much. I hadn’t even looked at the blurb before reading this story because I’ve loved the rest of the series and knew I’d love this one too.

I was really excited as I started reading to find out one of the characters was Demi. I love stories with Demi characters as I find their connection amazing once they get intimate. This one was no exception. Yes it does go quickly in the book but I do feel it built over time. With the thoughts going through Jason’s head I had no issue whatsoever with his Demi portrayal as it is such a huge spectrum and will be different for everyone.

Cas was so incredibly sweet and special. He was exactly who Jason needed. There was never a second where Cas tried to pressure Jason and he always was understanding that Jason may never want him sexually. That ended up not being the case and their chemistry was amazing and super hot. On the opposite end Cas needed someone like Jason just as much. He needed someone to see the real him and realize all he has to offer.

This was a really cute book with two incredibly sweet characters. There wasn’t as much to do with the studio in this book and I was completely ok with that. We still got to see some of our favourite characters for some fun scenes. If you’ve enjoyed the rest of the series I’m sure you’ll love this one too!

Time of death: 31% 🫡

I’m very particular about what books I DNF, so this was not a light decision I made. But unfortunately there were too many things about this book that I did not like. 😕

If Jason did not express that he was Demisexual in the one conversation he had, I would not have known he was Demi. The way he was written did not feel authentic to the Demi representation. Which is such a bummer that these authors keep trying to write Demi characters but it just doesn’t work for me.

I also had an issue with Cas. The whole “people think I’m so pretty and just want sex from me but Jason doesn’t see me that way what a relief” thought drove me insane. I feel like the only thing I learned about Cas in the 31% I read was that he was pretty, rich, and “dumb” but even the “dumb” aspect felt forced?

Instalove can be so fun at times when done right but it just fell flat here. In the 3(?) dates I read, Jason said like six words. There was no chemistry, no build up no nothing.

I apologize if this just feels like a whole review of me complaining, and it is. I just wanted more with the demisexual representation and I wanted more for their relationship. I love Emmy, there’s only a few of her books that don’t work for me and I am sad to say this is one of them :(

anyways, as always this is my honest review🥸✌🏾

This next instalment in the Elite 8 series was a sweet addition.

Cass works at Elite 8 where he is the designated 'Himbo'. He also works for his father's company and struggles to find his place there (where he is the designated 'airhead' because he just can't seem to be able to do anything that is required with any competence). He is introduced to Jason who works in the local coffee place. Cass is instantly smitten with the (very) shy Jason. Jason, however, is less smitten given his demisexuality. Nonetheless, the two start seeing each other with the stipulation that its really just as friends. Over time, Jason does start to have feelings for Cass and their relationship really takes off. Wow,does it!

I felt the story arc on this was fairly low key. There was a health issue that was lingering in the background that caused some angst as well as a little bit of conflict for Cass around his employment at his father's firm. Otherwise it was a fairly low angst and sweet read.

What I liked:
🔸 Brad (Jason's friend) - he is hilarious and his pet names for Jason made me lol.
🔸 Cass was soooo sweet, caring and just made me want to wrap him in cotton wool
🔸 Cass's family
🔸 seeing the Elite 8 boys again (at least some of them)

There were some unanswered questions for me about both Cass (how he could be so unable to do any job in his father's firm but able to breeze through and Jason I think this is such an individual experience its going to be hard to write this in a way everyone will be accepting of. Having said that, I thought it was written fairly well.

All in all, I really enjoyed this one!

This was so cutesy. I can always count on Miss Emmy to make me feel all warm and squishy on the inside.

This book had such a cute beginning. One of the best meet cutes that I have ever read. Jason is our little shy barista, and he was very nervous when he met Cas, the incredibly hot porn star that he watches in his free time. So nervous that we had a spilled coffee and whip cream mess. But, it was amazing. I laughed so hard.

Cas is a darling little angel baby that deserves everything good and pure in this world. I’m pretty sure that I have said that exact same thing about a character in every one of Emmy’s books that I have read. But it’s fine because I love sweetie pies. Cas just wants a partner that he can love and care for, and he wants that from his partner in return. He’s been burned in the past. He’s had partners that only want him for sex. People have said he’s a himbo, that he lacks common sense, and he’s not the type you settle down for (I want to beat up everyone that says that). He deserves something good now.

Jason is demi sexual. He doesn’t feel sexual attraction to anyone until he feels romantic attraction to them. He wasn’t sure if Cas would want to date him, since he doesn’t want to have sex until he develops romantic attraction for Cas, if he develops anything at all. Cas is totally cool with that. It’s nice to him that he’s dating someone that wants to get to know him instead of just wanting him for only one thing. Isn’t that sad though? Anyway they go on their little dates while I squeal with cuteness.

Spoiler alert: Jason does develop feelings for Cas and in turn he develops sexual attraction to him. The sex was really good. It felt like there was a lot to me, too. I loved it. Jason is also a pretty possessive character, surprisingly. His little lion, Cas calls him. Jason gets all jealous when people ogle Cas and he gets all growly. So yummy. He also goes off on that mean ex Cas has, and I was cheering on the side.

I loved the characters in this. Jason and Cas are so supportive of each other in so many ways. They have the best love story. I’ll think of them for a while.

This book felt like the warmest hug and I loved every adorable second of it!!

Cas is Himbo. Some people, assholes mostly, consider this perfect man to be dumb. To not have a lick of sense, but that’s just not true. Some people are simply smart in different ways and Cas is one of them.

He has a heart made of gold and he tries to see beauty in everything and everyone even if they don’t deserve it. But you know who does deserve it? Jason.

I loved how protective and possessive Jason was of Cas. He was everything Cas ever wanted or needed.

Jason is Demi, so it was a bit of a slow burn but once he fell, holy smokes. Like bunnies in heat those two. And the way it turned Jason from a shy little lamb into the fiercest lion was beauty in motion.

Another great book from Ms. Sanders and I can’t wait for the next one!!

Himbo is the fourth book in the Elite 8 Studios series. Each time I've read one have I thought that that's my favorite and that the next can't possibly be so good, but it's always is. There's a snake, snowflakes, sassy coworkers, found and real family and there's plenty of steam.

I loved both Jason and Cas. Cas is just a huge sweetheart waiting for the right person. He has been misunderstood and treated wrong for so long. Yet he understand and treats Jason with great care and in the speed Jason needs in the first part of their relationship. Jason being demisexual is a big part of the story, but it fits the story and is done very well. Jason I can also relate with for other personal reasons and that gave him as a character a lot of depth for me.

Both main characters have good development throughout the story. Emmy is a master at weaving in realistic, normal problems for her characters. It's not over the top, and it's not drawn out for the sake of drama. I won't characterize the book as being angsty, because it's not. Whatever is there feels natural.
And I'm not going to lie, I loved meeting the other guys from Elite 8 again. Their cameos are always fun. Edit Dec 1 because of typo.

Let me start by saying that I absolutely adore Emmy Sanders' work, with Fool Hearts and Malibu being two of my all-time favorite books. So, it's with a heavy heart that I have to admit that Himbo didn't quite live up to my expectations.

The story started off really well, and the characters were very cute. Jason and Cas meet at the coffee shop where Jason works, and their instant attraction sets the stage for what could have been an amazing love story. The meet cute was both embarrassing and adorable, and I was really excited to see where their relationship would go.

Jason is very shy, a virgin and demisexual so he’s very anxious to go on a date with a porn star who obviously has more experience and will most likely expect to have sex. But Cas is the sweetest and he respects Jason (as he should!) Honestly, it could have been the best love story BUT…the ace rep…NO! While I understand that everyone's experiences are different, it didn't feel quite right to me. I personally needed a stronger emotional connection before anything physical could happen, and unfortunately, I never felt that connection between Jason and Cas. Which is the whole point if you want to write about a demi character, otherwise just make him an inexperienced virgin. Honestly, it would have been a 4 star read for me if it was the case.

That being said, I do understand why others might enjoy this book, especially if they're not on the ace spectrum. Himbo does have its sweet and fun moments, and I particularly enjoyed the emotional aspects surrounding Cas's ambitions and Jason's potential genetic disease. Additionally, Brad, Jason's friend, was a hilarious and supportive character that I absolutely loved.

I want to make it clear that I don't dislike the book entirely. There were some great moments at the beginning and the end, but the ace representation and a few other issues I had with the book, such as Jason's sudden personality change after having sex, prevented me from fully enjoying it.

I received an ARC and while it pains me to say this, I have to be honest in my review. I've decided not to rate the book on GR because I believe that many people will still enjoy it. Emmy Sanders is an incredible author, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

One of the things I appreciate about this series is how Emmy Sanders portrays porn stars. They work in adult films and have regular lives and there's not an ounce of judgment or drama because of it. It's especially refreshing to read how our caring Himbo, Cassius, comes from a wealthy loving family who support him and want him to be happy. They do not treat him as less because he's a bit lost and his only fear is disappointing them. Which is something he imposes on himself. He wants to belong and be seen by who he is, not the porn star, but the man. And he finds a place to belong to in Elite 8 Studios.

Now, the disaster of meet-cute between Cas and Jason had me feeling all the second hand embarassment and laughter. Jason is the shy barista we meet in Dix, and he is demisexual. I loved how being in the ace spectrum is portrayed, how he comes to know and fall for Cas, little by little and his attraction to him comes after seeing how kind and attentive and sweet Cas is to him and everyone. They are the cutest together, Cas being ultra respectful of Jason, accepting they may never be íntimate, but hoping that if they do, it'll be because Jason sees him and loves him for who he is. But once the floodgates open for Jason, all bets are off. Little lion, Cas calls him *swoon*. And he is one protective mf.

Cas, who just is the softest soul ever, would give his life for Jason. But Jason is keeping one possible issue with his health hidden from him. I liked how this part of the plot wasn't overly angsty and helped portray their deep feelings for one another.

This book made me tear up a few times because it's just so wholesome and I LOOOOVE wholesome romances. Life isn't that lovely, so give me al the sweetness, please and thank you.

Maybe I shouldn't have read this book as a standalone
I feel if I had read the series I would've connected with the characters and know more about Cas' himbo personality.
I liked Jason in the first few chapters but later on his actions and how he was described initially was so different.
Maybe I'll read the first three books and give this another try

**I received an advanced copy of Himbo by Emmy Sanders and these are my honest thoughts**

It’s no secret that if Emmy Sanders writes it, I’m going to read it. If Emmy Sanders writes it about porn stars though? I’m going to read it in one sitting.

As always this story was absolute perfection. Emmy is a wizard at pulling you into the worlds that she designs and as also was an absolute queen when it came to representation.

I want to write a huge review raving about how everyone needs this book and this series in their lives but instead I’ll just convince you to meet Cas and Jason using my own highlights from their book.

***

“Cas, every single person you’re not related to at that party is going to want to fuck you, and I’ll have to fend them off. I only have two hands.”

”Either you want to scrape his tonsils with your manhood or you don’t.”

”You’ve always been worth the gamble.” His gaze pins me. Holds me and cradles me. “You’re the only person I want. Why would I possibly go away?”<\i>

This was a fun sweet romance between two cinnamon roll characters.

Jason is demisexual, but not a nun, so when one of his favorite pornstars walks into his coffee shop he stops being able to think straight and somehow this interaction ends with him giving a whip cream facial…oh boy. Cas is immediately enamored. He’s taken by this shy, beautiful man with an adorable smile. And as someone who has been used most of his like for his looks and sex, Cas loves Jason’s demisexuality because it means he likes him for who he is, not what his body can do.

Jason is adorably protective of Cas, practically growling at anyone who tried to objectify him. And Cas is a giver, he shows up with little gifts and thoughtful reminders, showing Jason that he deserves to be loved whether or not their connection ever grows into attraction.

But boy does it grow into attraction. As feelings develop, Jason is wary to attribute his new random boners to attraction to Cas because he doesn’t want to get his hopes up. But when the attraction hits, it’s explosive. Jason is experiencing everything for the first time and it’s so special to see how he approaches it. Cas is along for the ride after this pleasure dom awakening and I love that for him.

Overall, I loved the demisexual representation (I’m always looking for more!) and found this adorable love story to be funny and cute with just the right amount of angst. Both of these men deserve the world and I’m so happy they’re finding it together!

WOWWWW. Dare I say.. new favorite Emmy book? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- this author doesn’t miss. I already want to reread it.

Himbo is book 4 in the Elite 8 series and we get Cas and Jason’s story. The first thing I will rave about with this book is how absolutely lovable both MCs are. Cas- stunning head-turner porn star with a heart of gold. Jason- adorably awkward yet fierce as hell and full of deliciously possessive moments. This book makes it impossible not to be half in love with both of these fictional men by the book’s end.

The demi rep is everything. Who better to pair a gorgeous porn star that’s only been ever wanted for his body with than a demi MC? The “getting to know you” is so beautifully done, and the payoff you get when Jason is hit with that rare sexual attraction is so beautifully done. All the firsts were perfectly written.

BRAD. I LOVE BRAD! Have I ever loved a side character more? His friendship with Jason and their unfiltered chats had me holding my stomach laughing. And of course seeing all the other Elite 8 guys throughout the book was wonderful. Alex and his sneaky matchmaking are everything.

✨Read this book if you’re looking for a story loaded with sweet and spicy moments, insane chemistry and emotional connection, and all the wonderful communication and vulnerability between very lovable MCs.

Virgin barista discovers his inner pleasure dom and holy christ the rest of this book was hot as hell. Also I cried.

First of all, there is a new Brad in my life (no, he is not replacing Bro & the Beast Brad, but they’d definitely be besties). Is Brad one of the MCs? Nope. He’s the supportive bestie who is amazing and hilarious and I need a whole book of him just saying snarky shit.

As for our MC’s, Jason and Cas - lord their chemistry was FIRE. This book was hot and spicy while also managing to be hilarious and tear inducingly sweet. It’s the Emmy Sanders special.

This is another flail review with more vibes than thoughts, but TLDR: I loved this book and you should read it so you too can fall for Cas and Jason. And Brad.

First off I’m demisexual. And I loved this representation of the Ace spectrum (more on that at end).
Jason and Cass are so cute together. I read a lot of hurt/ comfort so this was a nice refresher. The beginning starts off cute and fluffy. There’s adorable moments and lots of humor. As the book continues you get a lot more depth and feelings.
The “Do you want to meet my snake?” scene had me laughing so hard while also experiencing some anxiety. My Demi heart could picture it perfectly. The anxiety of agreeing to date someone allo and not knowing whether the sexual attraction will eventually come was so accurate.
I enjoyed watching there connection grow slowly over time. It didn’t take much space in the book but they only met up twice a week so a lot of time passed. I loved Cass getting to see what real love is like and being truly appreciated for who he is outside of his looks. “It’s what’s underneath that makes Cas who he is. That’s the part of him that wants me. And that’s the part of him that leaves me breathless.”
This book was very similar to my lived experience as a demisexual. I can get romantically attracted relatively quickly but feel nothing sexual until deep feelings are there. But once they are there, I’m ready to go like Jason was. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and seeing this version of the Ace spectrum represented. As it is a spectrum, there are so many variations that make a difference in how it presents and is expressed.

I tried. I really did. At some point I started scrolling faster to get to a point I would find interesting. The premises were there; but demisexuality is not easy to write correctly and I think the author failed miserably here.

I read this story as instalike and instalove. The demi rep was barely there. Three seconds later Jason is in love and wants to have sex. All. The. Time. Boring.

The whole story felt a little hollow: there was no building up, the characters didn't do anything apart telling each other how amazing they were and fucking like rabbits. The writing was also a little too basic for me.

*I was given an arc copy for my honest opinion

I partially love Emmy Sanders books because they let me turn my brain off and enjoy a fluffy alternate reality for a while. However, sometimes things go a little too well at every turn and the conflict feels shoehorned in. This couple went from being two individuals in complicated situations to being madly in love and banging at every opportunity in the blink of an eye, and it just didn't work for me. Definitely might just be my mood this week, and I'll keep reading in this series, but this one was a miss for me.
