We all want to age well, and current thought on this ‘third-third’ of life is rapidly changing as medicine continues to advance – and as the global community ages and demands more. A multitude of books on the topic can be found of late – conscious, contemplative, positive, sacred aging; elderhood, 'gerotranscendence', ‘sageing'. While not denying biological reality, is there indeed something more? Is this a stage of life to be honored, even anticipated? Can we embrace peak experiences, achieve wisdom, reach our potential – transform – in our Third Act? If so -- to what end? And as we reach our late middle years, how can we prepare ourselves for this new stage, of transcendent elderhood? This book offers 9 keys to transcendent aging, through the lens of transpersonal psychology . * The author is a health psychologist (PhD; resilience) with a transpersonal focus (MA), a passion for positive psychology, and a keen interest in the influence of culture.
