This book follows Thea & Hypnos in an untold story of the Greek Goddess of Relaxation and the God of Sleep as they both live different lives, Thea is given as a hostage to Hypnos by Zeus as revenge for putting Zeus to sleep while his wife Hera abused Zeus’s favourite demigod Hercules while Zeus was under his spell. Thea a friend of Kharis and a sister to Roslyn was taken from her family to live with Hypnos in the Underworld among his family Nyx and Aurora. After Hypnos returns Thea home will she ever come back to show she loves him or will she stay safe with her sister?

The writing is whimsical and romantic, the relationship between Thea and Hypnos is beautifully written and I love how both characters grow in the story.

There’s just something about Michelle Moras’ writing that’s unique. It’s graceful and elegant and descriptive. I really did try to find the right word to describe it but I had a hard time.

Elegant was the best I could come up with. Her writing makes me feel comfortable and cozy and peaceful.

I enjoyed cursed by slumber. Hypnos was just the right amount of quiet and sexy. And Thea was absolutely adorable. I really loved her.

If mythological retellings are something you’re interested in you might check this one out!

This second book of the Goddesses of Grace series had me captivated from beginning to end!

Thea, along with her sister Kharis and sister Rosyne, plot to save their childhood friend Heph from his arranged marriage to the goddess Aphrodite, in hopes that he can finally be with Kharis. Zeus finds out their plan, and has his henchman Hermes capture Thea and whisk her away to the cave of the god of sleep, Hypnos. She must remain with Hypnos until Zeus allows her back in Olympus, but in a turn of events, Thea makes a bargain to help Hypnos with something that has troubled him for all of millennia-the god of sleep cannot actually sleep. As the goddess of relaxation, Thea sets out to help Hypnos and finds herself falling in love with him, and Hypnos cannot help but be captivated by Thea. In the midst of their love, chaos, misunderstandings, and internal battles ensue, and our starlight crossed lovers are left wondering if their love was destined by the fates to reign for all of eternity.

Hypnos and Thea have my heart. I was so enthralled by them and as a couple, they made my heart so happy! It was so refreshing to see Hypnos’ growth from a grumpy, closed off character to one who wanted to change for the better, just to prove his love for Thea. And Thea! She is so similar to me in many ways, but watching Hypnos’s love for her transform her into a more confident, yet still kind goddess was so beautiful. Seeing how Hypnos’ love encouraged her to truly believe in herself was one of the best parts for me. True love should always do that.

If you enjoy Greek mythology mixed with a fairytale, ethereal, and dreamlike feeling, I highly recommend this book!

The cover photo of the book is absolutely stunning and I was totally intrigued into reading it. I really enjoyed reading it.

In “Cursed by Slumber,” the second installment of the Goddesses of Grace Series, we follow Thea, the Goddess of Relaxation. After she and her sisters receive their divine gifts, they ascend to Olympus. For Thea, this new life is a challenge; she yearns for the tranquility she knew before Olympus’s tumult. Despite her joy in aiding mortal mothers, Thea feels her contributions are modest. Her sisters remain her anchor, and when Kharis requires her aid, Thea doesn’t hesitate. However, her loyalty ensnares her in a trap set by Zeus, leading to her captivity by Hypnos, the God of Dreams.

Initially, Hypnos is wary of Thea, suspecting a scheme by Zeus. But as he learns about Thea’s perspective on life, his gruff and unyielding nature begins to wane, charmed by the serene goddess. As they support one another, a tender love blossoms. Yet, they must navigate treacherous trials if they wish to secure an eternal future together.

The writing skills of the author are flawless and I was engaged throughout the book without getting bored at all. The character developments were great and through her Captivating writing style I could visualise the whole world building in front of my eyes. This is one of the best books I have read till now. It is a perfect blend of Greek Mythology and Fairytale Retelling (Sleeping Beauty).

I will highly recommend this book to fans of Mythology and Fantasy. Grab your copy today and you will definitely love it as it has a very gripping Plot.

Cursed by Slumber by Michelle Moras, is the second book in the Goddesses of Grace Series, now it's the turn of Thea, the Goddess of Relaxation, who together with her sisters and after receiving their gifts find themselves on Olympus, but to Thea is difficult since she longs for her quiet life before the chaos of Olympus, although she enjoys helping mortal mothers, she does not feel that she does much, her sisters are the most important thing to her so when her sister Kharis needs her help, she does not doubts it, but this will lead her to become a prisoner, by order of Zeus, of the God of Dream Hypnos, at first he doubts her and believes that it's a ploy of Zeus, but he soon realizes that he was wrong and when he begins to know Thea's version of life this grumpy and stoic God begins to soften for this beautiful Goddess. While they help each other, love is born between them, but they must face some difficult obstacles to be able to have an eternity together.
This story is completely captivating, sweet and a quick read. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down, with interesting characters, with a beautiful love story. If you enjoy Greek Mythology with a touch of Fairy Tale, this Series is perfect for you. This book is independent, but so that you do not spoil some parts of Kharis's story, I recommend reading the first book first. This is my third book by this author and with each of them I have finished very satisfied, a beautiful story that you will not want to pass up. Highly recommended.!
*Thanks to Michelle Moras for my ARC. I voluntarily leave my honest review*

Altamente Recomendada.!

I would like to thank the author for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

“The stars begin to swirl around me like a vortex. Faster and faster they spin until I’m lost in the eye of their storm. I feel dizzy as I’m swept away in their light, flying across a dark expanse. Suddenly, the stars stop swirling, and I’m surrounded by bright light that suspends me in the air. That’s when I hear the three little words that stir my heart and awaken my soul. ‘I love you.’”

In the second book of the Goddesses of Grace trilogy we follow Thea and her discovery of her powers of relaxation, and Hypnos the god of sleep. Zeus requests that Hypnos holds Thea prisoner with him in the underworld so she can’t interfere with the plans he has for her sister Kharis and Hephaestus (the subjects of book 1). Turns out he once you get the god of sleep and goddess of relaxation together, their powers meld and become stronger. Of course no Greek myth retelling would be complete without a curse and some meddling gods.

This was such a fun follow up to Kharis and Heph. This was a very fast read and the imagery of the underworld was stunning. Doesn’t sound like a bad place to be in this book. You don’t have to read the first book but I think it would help to get a good feel for the sisters. I love their sisterly bond in these books. I did feel like the pacing was a bit off at times and some of the plot points were a bit “on the nose” but it made for an easy read, gentle like Thea. I can’t wait to read Rosyne’s story in book three!

I will try to be vague with no spoilers in my review as this is the second book in the series. Although this could be read as stand-alone, it is best read in the correct sequence as some of the plot does overlap and intertwine.

Cursed by Slumber is a short (only 193 pages) and sweet Greek Mythology retelling with classical fairy tale undertones. To me, it's a mixture of Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. It's perfect for readers who need a quick romantasy that is light, easy, and fun.

Oh Hypnos, you sweet, sarcastic, grump. I loved his character immediately. I loved his banter and his witty one-liners. He is oblivious to all emotion and basic human interaction does not come naturally to him which creates some precarious situations.

Innocent, demure, lovely Thea. She loves to nap and grow flowers (relatable). I loved seeing her grow into her power and I loved how Hypnos made her come out of her shell.

Overall, I found the second installment of The Goddesses of Grace to be enjoyable and full of beautiful imagery. The plot jumps around a bit and the pace is a little off at some points, but I love seeing Moras's writing grow with each book. I will definitely be reading Rosyne's book when it is published!

Oh the love of the fated. Taking a Greek mythology spin to not one but two classic fairytales, we see the storyline that brings a goddess into the life of Hypnos, the God of sleep. This is book 2 in the Goddesses of Grace series, which follows Thea, goddess of relaxation.

One thing I really enjoyed about this books, as it can stand alone from Cursed by Splendor, is that it is not a continuation of the story of the 3 Goddesses of Grace. Thea's story starts when she is young as she is drawn to her solitude and quiet life but finds comfort in the songs of a being she has not met outside of a portal atop a mountain. It is later found that her younger comfort she sought was unknowingly provided by Hypnos. She is first found as his Captive as a favor to Zeus. Thea doesn't find her captivity to be a burden as she finds the underworld and Hypnos to be exactly what she wished her Goddess life to entail.

After her captivity is over and she returns to the skies and Olympus, Thea tries to unburden her heart with sleep, only to accidentally curse herself into sleep for over a millennia.

I enjoyed the different feel and atmosphere of this book as a secondary novel in this series. We are not given the same setting and can delve more into a new realm and see the different opinion of those who believe themselves to be above. I look forward to finishing this series.

I received this book as an arc in exchange for a review.

As always I am blown away by Michelle's books, her writing is effortless, flawless and gorgeous. This is the second book in the Goddess of Grace series and it follows its sister book on amazingly. The cover is stunning, I love the purple with the gold and I think it matches to the story perfectly.

This book is a sublime Greek twist on a classic Sleeping Beauty tale, because who doesn't love that!? We follow Thea as she makes her way around the grumpy Hypnos after he has been awoken and blackmailed by the powerful Zeus. The pair are the perfect sunshine x grumpy trip that we all adore.

The imagery is something I adore the most about Michelle's books, all of them have that spark in them that you can clearly see in your mind.

If you haven't read Michelle's books you really are missing out and need to change it, so what are you waiting for? Go and give them a read!

Thank you again Michelle for letting me read and review your new masterpiece I appreciate it and can't wait to see what you have got up your sleeve next.

Michelle Moras is a newer to me author and I was not disappointed with this second book in her series! I was captivated and engaged from the very first page.

Thea is taken to the cave of Hypnos, against her will as punishment for attempting to save her friend from an arranged marriage to Aphrodite. Zeus finds this out and as such, Thea has to remain with Hypnos until otherwise.

Things are not as they seem and after striking an agreement with Hypnos, Thea finds herself falling for him and Hypnos is enamored by her. There is very much a star crossed lovers vibe and I WAS HERE FOR IT.

I really enjoyed seeing the journey of Hypnos as a character! He went from a grumpy one to just wanting to prove he was enough for Thea; and in addition, Thea transforms and grows into confidence because of the love Hypnos has for her.

If you like Greek mythology sprinkled with fairytales, this is one for you!

This is the second book in the series of interconnected standalone "Goddesses Of Grace" penned by Michelle Moras. She's becoming one of my favorites for her marvelous retellings. Reading the first book in this series ain't necessary but it will help you as a reader to know the characters better as it lays the foundation of these character arcs.

Thea was such a sweet yet underconfident character in the book due to Zeus, after entering Zeus's realm despite getting her wings and helping desperate mortals, she has this hollow feeling inside her portrayed through her POV in the book. The real story unfolds when she lands in Hypos's cave present in the Underworld realm being caught by Zeus in stopping the marriage of Aphrodite & Hephaestus her powers are similar to Hypos which makes him doubt her at first and rude to her.

I loved Hypos's character arc the most in this book, how he goes from a shell of a person, the grumpy, cold one to a heartwarming person to Thea and even promises her to become a better person for her.

Ps. This was my second book by the author as I'm well aware of the first book and have read it, thanks Michelle for handing me the ARC of this book, it's an honor.

If I had to sum up this book in one word, it would be “lovely.” The story is lovely, the writing flows beautifully & consistently and the descriptions are perfect. Thea comes off as weak to Hypnos in the beginning, but I love that she statues true to herself thru the story. She does get a little tougher but she doesn’t ever let her weakness define her so she only grows into herself and it’s beautiful! Hypnos on the other hand has a great story arc. His grumpy demeanor softens for Thea but in the most caring and natural way. I love their story and can see how the sisters all weave into each others stories! I hadn’t read Book 1 before reading this one, and although that didn’t take away from this story I could see how reading this one first would show some spoilers, so I’d recommend reading book 1 first if you want to avoid knowing certain things too soon.

The Short of It: Think Sleeping Beauty, but with a lesser known mythology retelling twist.

The Long of It: I love mythology retellings, but I was getting bogged down by all of the HadesxPersephone, Trojan War, and Medusa retellings that saturated the genre. Michelle’s Cursed by Slumber (and its prequel Cursed by Splendor) takes a refreshing look at lesser known myths and gods while putting a fairy tale twist on them. Cursed by Slumber has really rounded out these characters we met in Cursed by Splendor and given us a bigger picture of their world and personalities. Hypnos is grumpy and tired of people’s BS and I loved it. Thea is sweet and remains so even when she comes into our power. We love a sunshinexgrumpy trope 👏 we get a taste of Thea’s sisters stories without losing the focus of Thea. I’m excited to read more from Michelle as she continues to cultivate her voice and writing.

This was a great Greek Mythology/ Sleeping Beauty retelling and perfect for anyone who enjoys both!

Even though this is a standalone I still recommend reading the first book Cursed By Splendor 🖤

I love the characters and their growth, they are very well written and interesting. I also just really love grumpy and sunshine pairings🤣

The authors writing is so good! World building and descriptions were perfect and made it easy for me to visualize while reading. I was captivated as soon as I started reading and I can not wait to read the next one!

If you've read book 1, then you should not get into this expecting the same pace.

This one is a slow burn. It's quite different from book 1. Mainly cause book 1 also had the burden of setting up the world, while in this one, we are returning to the familiar space. So, a lot of world building is replaced with character building.

We get a lot less dialogue and much more of what the two MC's are thinking. Due to that, I found the overall character arcs very satisfying. I love when the characters behave how they are setup as and not dramatically make a different choice just for a twist of a forced redemption.

Even though it's a story about Gods, they feel so human in their decisions. They feel extreamly familiar. I loved this part and can't wait to see how different part 3 will be.

Cursed by Slumber is book 2 in the Godesses of Grace series. I’ve come to realize Greek mythology books aren’t my favorite but Michelle does a wonderful job of making me a fan of her retellings. The way she intertwines romance, with the history of Greek gods/goddesses and then adds a side of fairytale retellings really makes for an amazing plot. So far this one is my favorite in the series!

If you’re looking to dip your toes into Greek Mythology romance then you should definitely reading Cursed by Splendor and Cursed by Slumber.

Beautifully written. Highly recommended if you are a fan of greek mythology (like I do!). The Cursed by Slumber is book 2 but can be read as a stand alone. Though the story will be much appreciated if read in order.

Writtend in dual POV alternating between the love story of Thea and Hypnos. Love found due to forced proximity and yet fated love. Hypnos is a grumpy God while Thea is a good dose of sunshine - they fell in love while Hypnos holds Thea as a prisoner. Zeus requested Thea to be held captive by Hypnos because she wants to help her sister and destroy Zeus’ plans. (Read Cursed by Splendor for Thea’s sister’s story)

Full disclosure this was an ARC read. All opinions are mine.

Cursed by Slumber is book 2 in the Goddesses of Grace series.

This book follows Thea and Hypnos journey. As a fellow introvert myself I loved Thea and Hypnos introverted ways.

A wonderful Greek mythology retelling with dual POVs (which are always fun), fated mates and forced proximity. It’s a great fun new adult read.

What I did really enjoy was the spice in it was the best mix of descriptive and fade to black I’ve ever read. I really enjoyed that as it was just enough for your imagination without going too far.

I didn’t think this book could be even better than the first book in this standalone series yet here we are. OMG this book had everything I needed. It was perfect mix of a beauty and beast/sleeping beauty retelling while also incorporating actual greek mythology. If you’re a lover of anything greek myth related and romance this series is the one for you.
Trope list:
- fated love
- grumpy MMC x quiet sunshine FMC
- dual POV
I truly did love this book and it was such a quick read as well!

I’ve read ALOT of books lately and honestly it is refreshing to see true loves kiss in a book. It’s corny but we grew up with that and it is nice to see it so seamlessly woven into a story. I also love that these are standalone stories that are woven together . I love emo boy Hypnos and the delulu land both characters are in. I look forward to what comes nexts

Thea, the Goddess of Relaxation & Hypnos, the God of Sleep are forced into a situation neither of them want to be in. Can it be mutually beneficial or will someone get hurt in the process? In this Sleeping Beauty retelling you get a Greek Mythology Romance with a happily ever after.. but of course, what HEA is good without a little drama?

True loves kiss, Greek Mythology and fairytale retellings (Sleeping Beauty)… what else could a story need?? Throw in some spice and fated mates, and I am so there!! Beautifully written and easy to read, this is a stand-alone story but can be read as part of a series.

This story follows Thea, the goddess of relaxation, and Hypnos, the god of sleep. In a turn of events, Zeus, is his infinite wisdom (que the eye rolls) sticks his nose where it doesn't belong and decides to intertwine their lives. Burdened together, they slowly become infatuated and are determined to show that their love is destined by the fates.

The dual POV is very well done and allows the reader to fully understand how these grumpy/sunshine characters explore their chemistry while they melded together in this wonderfully captivating story.

Hypnos & Thea were both well crafter characters that gave the story sooo much more depth! Michelle did amazing crafting this story!
