This book picked up right where the first one ended-- Bogart has just killed the big, bad monster and is enjoying a rest on the beach, basking in his success. But there is a way bigger, badder evil afoot.

Pretty early on, it became apparent that the nuance that made the first book, Bogart, and his party compelling was kind of tossed out the window. They all get so caught up in the plot of this book that there's not room for much else. Despite how short this book was, I again found myself struggling to pay attention and periodically considered DNFing it.

Ultimately, I think this just wasn't for me, but I know there are tons of folks out there who will enjoy Bogart's antics and adventure more than I have.

After the trials of his first real adventures, Bogart stumbles back to the city, hoping his companions will be overjoyed at seeing his face again. But he realizes that he’s run into more trouble when he notices that the lands around the city seem to be poisoned and that there are some intense and dangerous power plays being made within the city. Can Bogart and his companions make a difference in these dangerous times?

This work picks up exactly where book one left off, which I liked. However, the scale of this book shifted to be much larger than the first, which drew the focus of the book away from much of what I enjoyed in the first one. I liked the exploration of morals/values and the concepts of good versus evil in the first book, but that seemed to have fallen completely by the wayside in this book. Bogart also went from struggling to learn basic human ideas in the first book to basically knowing everything about everything in this one. Honestly, much of what made Bogart a compelling protagonist in the first place wasn’t present in this book, which was disappointing.

Because the scope of the conflict in this read was so large, the characters lost much of what made them compelling. There was little depth or growth to them in this read, which detracted from my enjoyment and my interest in the story. Also, this is the published copy of the work, but there were many typos and errors present throughout.

Overall, this was an easy but forgettable read that didn’t live up to the levels of the first book. While I do still recommend checking out book one, I don’t think I’ll be reading any more of this series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape for an advanced audio copy. This is more like a 3.5 mostly because of personal preference. That preference being this book felt like an abridged version compared to book one. The upside with that is the story is streamlined and easy to follow. I personally like a book the meanders a bit but gets me where I need to go. I feel like this is where world building and character development happens. It’s a fine line too much and your bogged down with useless filler and too little and you feel like something is missing which was how I felt.

The story picks up right where the last book ends. You have two intersecting stories that takes up about 85% of the book. As stated I think this stunted the character development and world building. I overall enjoyed where the story is going especially on the team building front but to beat a dead horse felt something was missing.

For the Loot 2 was a fun and quirky adventure. I really enjoyed the first book so I was really excited to jump into the next installment. I've been playing dungeons and dragons for years and this felt like reading a session of it. I adore Bogart as a main character. He's such a quirky goblin! I don't want to spoil the plot but I will say a lot of wild and shocking twists happened. I can't wait for book three!

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this alc in exchange for an honest review.

Another strong book, but man, do things go to shit here. Can't say much more without spoilers, other than it looks like there'll be a book 3, and I will read it to see how far Bogart can push things.

For the Loot 2: A LitRPG Fantasy by Han Yang, Pearce Adams was a fun and fast read! I had so much fun listening to Bogart and his return to the town and his party's adventures to steal what belongs to a dark god; the course of history must be changed forever. This is the second book in the series, and this one picks up where the first one left off. However, after not reading the first one, I had little to no problems following along with this story. The audiobook made the story come alive, and the narrator did a fantastic job with the voices of different characters!

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy and Literary Role Playing Game books.
