Road Trip Romance #16

Chase the Storm

Rate this book
Indy Watson is desperate.

Life hasn’t always been unkind to her, but that’s probably because she’s always been cautious. She wasn’t looking for trouble, but over the last year, too much happened outside of her control. Everything had gone from bad to worse. And if Indy doesn’t want to spend the winter living out of her car—and possibly freezing to death—her only hope is landing a job at the local ski resort.

Griffin Ross doesn’t want for anything.

Part of that is because he built his fortune as a professional surfer, but it’s mostly because he doesn’t live a lavish lifestyle. Griffin lives for the adventure. That’s why he’s currently living out of his camper traveling all over the west coast wherever the snow is falling.

Under normal circumstances, it’s unlikely Griffin and Indy would have ever crossed paths. But when an avalanche traps the pair at a Colorado resort, the opposites find avoidance is impossible.

Within days, Indy finds herself struggling not to make all the same mistakes again. But Griffin is determined to show her that, sometimes, it’s okay to chase the storm.

A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.

I have to admit, I loved Indy and Griffin. She’s cautious, he seems impulsive. She’s scrambling to find a way toward more positivity, he’s finding that love hits when least expected. But the question is whether or not they can make things work, or if possible miscommunication and very real differences in life paths will end them before they really begin.

Indy is so justified in her reasons, and she’s also trying to do better. Especially when she feels that there could be something wonderful in store for her and Griffin. She slowly learns how to trust in the unexpected, that not all surprises are bad, and that change is sort of inevitable. It’s a good thing she learns these with Griffin by her side because he probably has the only chance at proving to her that all who wander aren’t lost. Or unthinking. Or truly impulsive. Because he really isn’t. He’s smart and weighs risks before acting. So much so that the drama we might’ve been expecting is waylaid via mature conversations and realistic expectations from both parties.

And the surprise that throws Indy in the end? It’s the best and most important of them all. So enjoy the snowbound times. Worry through the distance. And know that love definitely finds a way here.

“Chase the Storm,” the latest of A.K. Evans’s Road Trip Romance series of contemporary romances, takes readers to the snow-capped Colorado Rockies. I didn’t think it was possible (although I shouldn’t be surprised), but once again, Evans has created a book boyfriend that knocks most others off their imaginary pedestals with pro surfer Griffin Ross. He’s as adorably sweet as he is $exy, and his budding love story with the lovely, down-on-her-luck Indy Watson. The chemistry, as always, is sizzling, and there are all those little sweet and funny moments that just melt my heart. I know I’ll probably eat my words with her next release, but I’m pretty sure Evans has her work cut out for her in creating someone who will top Griffin in my eyes. Once again, such an amazing story that I just couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to audio when it becomes available because I can think of some scenes that will hit all the feels. My favorite RTR in the series to date!

Chase the Storm by A.K. Evans is a well-written and emotional roller coaster of a road trip romance novel. The story follows Griffin, who lives for adventure and is currently traveling the west coast in his camper, and Indy, who is desperate for a change in her life. The opposites attract, close proximity, humor, second chances, and love in this book lead to a heartwarming and satisfying read. The characters are well-developed, and the chemistry between them is palpable. Overall, I highly recommend Chase the Storm and give it a 4-star rating.

The Surfer and The Lady #Griffen #Indy

A K Evans’s Chase the Storm (Road Trip Romance Book 16) had me riveted to the story from the first paragraph to the last word written at the end of the book! This is my new favorite story of all the Road Trip romances to date! Indy, a long term planner who ignored her instincts and went out on a limb for someone she thought she loved only to have her existence as she knew it fall apart. Indy was going to a ski resort for a job interview when an avalanche happened that blocked her and other patrons from leaving the resort or from arriving as the only road was blocked. It was at the moment of witnessing the avalanche that Indy met Griffen and avid thrill seeker, and professional surfer who was at the ski lodge to snowboard. Griffen travels to and from different locations in his own custom camper. After Griffen realizes that Indy is sleeping in the resort’s lobby that he tries to help her without just trying to take advantage of her bad situation. Their love story begins with kindness given and received which turns into not just passion that flames and dies out but ends up being a true love that stands the test of time and distance! AK Evans’ Chase the Storm is also in an audiobook which was on point for the emotional depth and spicy moments. Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Kit Swann, they took a good book and made it come to life!

A Storm Worth Chasing

A.K. Evans couldn’t have given readers a better leading man than Griffin. From the moment he appeared on the page, I was about as smitten as Indy was!

As the blurb says, Griffin and Indy find themselves snowed in at a ski resort in her hometown of Blue Spruce, Colorado. She’s at her lowest point, when a knight in shining armor seems to pop up at her every turn. After swearing off men, Griffin is making it difficult for Indy to keep that promise to herself.

I just loved Indy and Griffin! He was the complete Yin to her Yang. In his early thirties, well established and traveling the world to catch that perfect wave. He’s got a great relationship with his parents, whom he visits often in Colorado. He really was written perfectly. Now that he and Indy are together, even better. Griffin is so glass half full, to her half empty at the moment, it was a great mix.

The book is well written and again, I’m not a fan of insta-love, however this was insta and then slow burn. Indy was cautious because of her past and Griffin was patient because he’s a good guy. I enjoyed the story of these two trying to make it work with a smidge of angst to keep things interesting. Chasing the Storm reads as a standalone, with a nice epilogue to wrap things up.

I won't lie, I picked this book because it's set in my home state of Colorado. I'm very glad I did though. A cozy winter read was just what I needed with temperatures dropping to below 0 fahrenheit (this is the first time I've experienced -19°C).

Indy has lost everything, her job, her boyfriend, and her house. After sleeping on her best friend's couch for months, a job at Blue Spruce Ski Resort may be her last hope. Griffin is chasing a storm coming into Blue Spruce in the hopes of a few days of amazing snowboarding with his friends. Then there's an avalanche, blocking off the only road on and off the mountain and they're both stuck.

I love Griffin. He knows what he wants and works to alleviate Indy's fears in a very caring and understanding way. In short, he's a sweetheart. Despite being a former commitment-phobe he is all in. After her previous boyfriend broke her trust Indy's reservations are understandable. She has reason to be wary of Griffin's carefree and go-with-the-flow attitude but I loved watching her grow in confidence as Griffin earns her trust.

This was a cute read that left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

I loved Indy and Griffin's story.

Snowed in and unable to get away from the mountain, Indy has to find a way to keep busy until she can get back down the mountain road that has been blocked off from the snow storm. She's not a skier or boarder, but she was interviewing for a job. Her life has changed so much within the past few months and she is desperate to get her life back on track. An unexpected encounter with a guy that is on the mountain for the snow could be what she needs to find her way back and get her life back on track.

Griffin lives for the extreme. He's a professional surfer during the summer months and a snow boarder in the winter. He looks for snowfalls that he knows will be great to board on and travels to the mountains early so that he can get on the new snow as soon as possible. HIs life is his own, although he is very close with his parents and visits them during the winter months between chasing the snow storms. His life is great, but when he meets Indy and gets to know her while she's stranded on the mountain, he finds that maybe he's been missing something.

I really enjoyed this story and I loved the characters. Their path to an HEA wasn't easy, but they were determined and found a way. They also learned that compromise and sacrifice could be worth it. Enjoyable read and I look forward to more in the Road Trip Romance series by A. K. Evans.

The 16th book in the Road Trip series takes us to Colorado where we meet Indy and Griffin. If this is your first book in the series don't worry because the books aren't connected to each becasue they are each set in a different state. Indy likes to plan things out. When she makes a decision that ultimately leaves her back at square one she has decided that she is not longer going to make impulse decisions. She needs stability and security. So of course a snowstorm leads her to meeting Griffin. Griffin takes life one day at time and wants to live in the moment. There is instant chemistry between Indy and Griffin but he can tell that Indy has to really think things through. Griffin helps Indy realize she needs to enjoy the moment and although it's nice to plan things sometimes the best things in life are unplanned. As they get closer they have to decide if going all in will lead to their happiness. I loved how this story unfolded and although I wanted to shake Indy for not seeing what was in front of her, I knew that there is always a reason because we just can't have all everything got the way you want, there would be no fun in reading that. This is a solid addition to the series and I can't wait to see what state we get to visit next. Well done AK!

If like me, you have not listened or read any of the stories in this series, rest assured this is a standalone.
Indy Watson has had a tough year. One that started at a high note with a boyfriend and a lucrative business and ended with no boyfriend, no job, and no money . Now practically homeless, she’s in Colorado for an interview at a resort, even though snow is not her thing.
To add more to her already bad luck, she finds herself unable to leave the area after her interview due to an avalanche. Whom Indy never expected to meet was professional surfer Griffin Ross. Griffin is in the area searching the snow and the sports activities he enjoys. Traveling in a camper, he’s living his life simply for the adventure and with no frills.
As these two get to know each other , feelings develop. But will Indy risk her heart and her future once again ? Will Griffin show her that love and a future with him is going to be worth the risk?
I have to confess that as much as I enjoyed Griffin, I never truly warmed up to Indy.
Still, this was an engaging audiobook.
Teddy Hamilton and Kit Swann did a good job in the narrations.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Chase the Storm by A K Evans review due 1/9/24 4 stars (g m b)
Indie & Griffen

She is practical. She worked at a job not necessarily fascinating but paid her bills with some left to save toward her dream career. Her boyfriend pressed and pressed to convince her to quit her job and join him in his new endeavor that was succeeding better than expected. When things fell apart she lost everything including the relationship. It wasn't easy to start over.

He traveled all over in his well-set-up camper. He “Chased the Storms” in this case snow storms to ski and snowboard. When they both were at a Ski Lodge not only a huge snowstorm but more kept them stranded. She was there for a job interview. While waiting they met and the chemistry was strong.

Would her history with her previous boyfriend block her from being open to a new relationship?

It was a touching love story. Griffin is more than she expected. As interested as she is to him she doesn't want to make the same mistake again. He is hard to resist. Will they get past her resistance?

Great characters, a love story any couple would enjoy living.

Chasing the storm (Roadtrip romance 6)

This is the sixth book in this amazing series by this author, each book follows a different set of characters. This is the story of Indy and Griffin, these two characters have a sizzling chemistry from the start. Indy goes through a lot and Griffin needs to be there to pick up the pieces, Indy is a sweet and caring character, and Griffin is an alpha male. You fall in love with the characters and their story from the very beginning. This author is amazing at bringing you realistic situations and believable characters. This book has you hooked from the first page, this is a page-turner of a read. This is an addictive and compelling story from this author.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

Chase the Storm is Book 16 in the Road Trip Romance Series by A.K. Evans, featuring a sweet and spicy romance between two strangers who end up snowed in together after an avalanche and storm. Griffin ticks all my boxes for an ideal book boyfriend, and poor Indy is so down on her luck that she deserves to be swept off her feet by such a swoon worthy man! Who cares if his job takes him 3,000 miles away to surf!🤪 The chemistry between them sizzled, and the banter between them was engaging and funny. They were both compelling and relatable, and you won’t want to put this book down! I’m loving the unique take of this series of standalones, with completely separate stories taking place in a different state. I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next!!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

🎧Audiobook Review🎧

A.K. Evans's Chase the Storm, the sixteenth installment in the Road Trip Romance series, unfolds as an opposites-attract, close-proximity, second-chance love story.

Griffin, an adventurous thrill-seeker and professional surfer snowboarding at the Blue Spruce Lodge, encounters Indy, a meticulous planner whose bold leap of faith results in her world unravelling. Faced with the prospect of returning home, Indy opts for a job interview at a resort. However, an avalanche during their conversation in the parking lot cuts off access to the main road, altering their plans.

The relationship between Griffin and Indy evolves into a slow burn, shaped by acts of kindness. Despite Indy's cautious nature due to past experiences, she discovers Griffin's reliability, leading her to rebuild trust. Their chemistry is electric, and the heartwarming conversations make this a delightful read.

The narration, skillfully performed by Kit Swann and Teddy Hamilton, enhances the experience. Teddy brings Griffin's laid-back, easy-going charm to life, while Kit delivers memorable and emotional scenes that will capture your attention from the get-go.

Ms. Evans delivers another gripping and beautifully written romance that gives us two completely opposite people. The saying "opposites attract" is true to form with Indy and Griffin. The storyline is emotional and worth all the emotions you will feel. As I was reading, I could not stop and at the turn of every page I was more and more engrossed with Indy and griffin.
Indy has not had an easy life and things go from bad to worse but she needs to survive. Griffin is one of those guys who has had it too easy and wants for nothing. She is too cautious whereas Griffin is a huge risk-taker, nothing ever fazes him. The two of them are people that you would never expect to find a connection but when they are stranded do to an avalanche there is something there that starts a spark. Will the same mistakes from the past haunt Indy? Can Griffin get Indy to come out of her shell?
I highly recommend adding Chase the Storm to your TBR list and when you do pick it up be prepared to be unable to put it down.

Indy has a run of bad luck after taking a big chance on the unknown, and it's left her with nothing. She doesn't want to live in her car so she's trying to land a job at a Colorado ski resort because she can also stay there. Griffin is a professional surfer who kind of lives by the seat of his pants following adventure in his very nice camper. There's an avalanche that traps these two together at the ski resort, and it's the best thing to happen to both of them though Indy is a hard sell because of being burned so badly. The sparks are flying between them, and Griffin is definitely up for getting to step out of her comfort zone again so I was turning the pages quickly. I'm so in love with this author's writing that every book is perfect in my eyes with Chase the Storm being no different, and that means I absolutely love the whole Road Trip Romance series since she keeps it fresh with each new book. I'm telling y'all, don't sleep on this story as you would be seriously missing out big time! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Indy & Griffin are the perfect couple. She's cautious & thinks out every possible outcome in a situation, while Griffin is living a carefree, full of thrills and adventures lifestyle. Indy let her EX call the shots while her gut instinct told her things were headed for disaster. She refuses to live life like that again. Griffin is living the "never miss an opportunity" motto.

Chase the Storm is my new favorite Road Trip Romance book! Indy & Griffin are proof that sometimes you have to take a risk to have something great. Not every risk leads to disaster. Griffin is so patient and understanding of Indy's feelings and situation and it's just precious to see their journey. I especially love how this book has such unique locations varying from snowy mountains to Hawaii beaches. Two polar opposites, much like Indy and Griffin. Everything about this book was perfection.

I listened to this on audio and the narrators were two of my favorites. As usual, they knocked it out of the park!

Audio Book Review: The Road Trip Romance series just keeps getting better and better! I fell a little in love with Indy from the very beginning because I understand whats it's like to go all in only to get burned in the end. Indy kept her head held high in the midst of trying to rebuild her life after losing just about everything. Who would've thought getting snowed in at a ski resort would be the start of not only her happily ever after, but also her path to finding herself again and taking back what was taken from her - her livelihood. Griffin couldn't have been a more perfect match for always cautious Indy. As a professional surfer, he was the last one to be cautious and was always chasing his next thrill. While Indy was afraid to take risk, Griffin took risks for a living. The only thing Griffin was not afraid of was not taking a chance, and he did that on Indy. I'd say the risks were worth it in the end. Teddy Hamilton and Kit Swann were perfect as Griffin and Indy! A great choice of narrators for Chase the Storm.

For the next installment of the Road-trip romance series, we’re headed to Colorado. Indy is a woman coming out of a bad past, and trying to rebuild her life. She wants stability and is hoping a new job can bring that to her. Griffin is a thrill seeker, chasing all the winter storms during his off season from surfing. When an avalanche barricades the two on a mountain resort, they build a connection with each other. With two different personalities, can their connection remain strong after they’re off the mountain?
I loved Griffin’s laid back personality, just going with the flow. He also knew when to be an encourager to Indy since she was scorned in her past.
I could see Indy holding onto some of her past and not wanting to let some of her strict tendencies go. I would have liked to see her character let loose a little in this area, but all in all, a great read!
I received an ARC of Chase the Storm. I voluntarily read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.

Once again, AK Evans enchants us with yet another emotionally charged and heartwarming story in the road trip series. This ongoing collection consistently delivers compelling tales filled with genuine emotion, leaving readers with the sense of having gained valuable romantic insights about the transformative power of being with the right person.

Embarking on the next leg of this captivating romantic odyssey is a story set against the picturesque backdrop of Blue Spruce Ski Resort in Blue Spruce, Colorado. Indy and Griffin's storyline unfolds in a mesmerizing dance of opposites—Indy, a risk-averse individual who once experienced the fallout of a gamble gone wrong, and Griffin, an adventurous thrill-seeker, in snowboarding and surfing. On the surface, they seem an unlikely pair, but with AK Evans' signature touch, the reader is invited on a journey fueled by undeniable chemistry—a compelling and enchanting must-read.

A failed business and a failed relationship has Indy Watson looking for stability. She needs a job and a home which she hopes to find in Blue Ridge, CO. She didn't expect to find Griffin Ross. He chases storms to snowboard and waves to surf. On the outset he seems like an impulsive, fly by the seat of his pants kind of guy. Everything Indy doesn't need in her life. Or does she? She's cautious about starting anything with Griffin, but a friendship unfolds between them. Indy and Griffin's romance is a slow burn. He doesn't push Indy past her limits, encourages her to try new things, cheers her on from near and far. The time they spend apart builds trust and respect, a solid foundation and a deeper love.

Kit Swann and Teddy Hamilton were stellar narrators. I can't say it enough about narrators who fully embody the characters and bring them to life. That takes immense talent that both Kit and Teddy have, fully immersing themselves into the characters.

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

I hate to admit this but I really disliked Indy and felt no connection to her.

Indy is extremely practical and cautious until she gives in and makes a “”mistake” with her ex boyfriend. While I agree that it was a little careless that while she knew that situation was going from bad to worse that she did nothing, didn’t look for another job, sell off things, she did absolutely nothing and then put all the blame on the ex for her situation.

I really liked Griffin, he was a breath of fresh air compared to Indy.

Wile I didn’t necessarily like Indy, I enjoyed the way Griffin gave her the time and space she needed to process everything.

Indy has always preferred security especially since the one time she took a chance she found herself homeless and with no income. The opportunity at the ski resort would not only give her a job but a place to stay as well. An avalanche leaves her stranded at the lodge and brings Griffin into her life, but will she be willing to take a chance on love?

Griffin is a professional surfer in Hawaii, and he spends his off season in the US where he follows the next storm in his camper so that he can snowboard. He has always gone from one adventure to the next never considering laying down roots but the feelings he has for Indy are unlike anything he has ever felt before.

Griffin is everything you could want in a boyfriend as he allows her to set the pace while showing her that the love they share can overcome anything including their very different lifestyles.

Griffin is a professional surfer and snowboarder. He is adventurous and always on the go trying to chase the next storm.

Indy is trying to get back on her feet after a disastrous break up. She is at the resort for a job interview but winds up stuck there after an avalanche. The last thing she is looking for is a relationship but can’t stop running into Griffin and finally accepts the help he is offering her. Thankfully Griffin is persistent and helps Indy break down some of those walls. They are opposites in so many ways but just fit so perfectly together. They had a few obstacles to overcome but it was such a fun story watching them get through those and end with their HEA.

This book is part of AK Evans Road Trip Romance series. All of the books are complete stand-alones and I have loved every one of them.

Chase the Storm was a perfect book to start my year off with. It was such a wonderful, low drama read with an amazing book boyfriend. Griffin is such a sweetheart and I absolutely fell in love with him myself. The way that he could tell what Indy needed and was willing to take his time getting to know her was so sweet. I also loved how he wanted to make sure that Indy had the space she needed to find herself instead of trying to force her to give up her independence to follow him. The writing was great and the storyline unique and fun. From the second I started reading I was hooked and couldn't put this book down. I really wanted to know how everything was going to work out, and just when I thought I knew what would happen I was given a new surprise. A must read book for sure!

This is the 16th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Griffin and Indy’s story.
Griffin is a thrill seeker and professional surfer, who lives in his camper and travels to wherever the snow is. Indy is adverse to taking risks, but after everything went wrong in the past year, she lands a job at a local ski resort. Griffin and Indy end up stranded together during an avalanche, and the sparks fly.
This is a well written easy to read, emotional roller coaster, with opposites attract, close proximity, humor, second chances, and love, which leads to an entertaining, haunting, and heartwarming, small town romance which leads to a steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Bad decisions led Indy to a desperate situation where she was homeless and taking one more interview before having to leave Colorado to live with her parents in Arizona. She left the interview at a ski resort and an avalanche forces her to stay there. Besides a warm place to stay, temporarily, she meets Griffin, a professional surfer and his winters are spent chasing snow storms to snowboard. She craves security and he has wanderlust. As they navigate through their attraction, she doubts she can be with him as she needs to find her own security and Griffin understands this, perhaps more than she does, and lets her do what she needs to. Beautifully written love story and the narrators were awesome as they used their voices to bring out emotion to bring this couple to life.

This is a really cute story! I really enjoyed it.

Griffin is a professional surfer, and snow boarder. He headed up to the mountains to try and find some fresh snow. Indy, is broken hearted, and looking for work. She is at the resort looking for a job. While they are at the resort, there is an avalanche. Everyone is stuck until the snow can be cleared.

This is a close-proximity, low drama, super cute story. I really like Griffin and Indy as a couple. They were both sweet people trying to figure out how to navigate a new friendship turned relationship. This is one of my favorite series. And this did not disappoint!

“Chase the Storm,” book 16 of A.K. Evans’s Road Trip Romance series takes place in Colorado.

Just like all of her books AK Evans gives us the perfect couple in each of her books and Griffin and Indy are no different!

Indy lost everything and needed to find a fresh start somewhere and the ski resort was her last shred of hope. Griffin, chasing a snow storm finds it at the ski resort. The question is, did he find the perfect storm he didn’t even realize he was searching for?

I absolutely love that Teddy Hamilton and Kit Swann did the audio for Indy and Griffin! These two narrators together, brought these two characters to life!

I instantly fell in love with both characters in this book. Indy, who seemed to have it together. not taking chances, only to have everything ripped apart. And Griffin, well Griffin was totally opposite, driven by excitement, almost seemingly flying through life by the seat of his pants.
So what do these two have in common? How Ms. Evans tells their story, their ups and downs, Griffin's thoughtfulness to Indy and they finding out that life can be full of love, even with a little risk at times.

The Road Trip Series by A.K. is one of my top series of all time. I simply love the idea behind it because it seems so unique to me. I also love going on the road trip with her as she visits each state.

I read this book in a day because that was how invested I was in it. The beginning focused on Indy and let me tell you… I wanted to adopt this poor girl just to help her. We see how her struggles began and how she got to the point she was in her life.

Griffin entered in the story after a couple of chapters. We learned a little about him and his life.

Then the two met. And that’s when I was 100% invested. This story was one of the sweetest and romantic stories I have read in a long time. Definitely one of my favorites of the series.
