Mildred lived a privileged life, one that only a few experience, in Manhattan, New York City. It was just her and her father. Her father, ever so proper and stern. Always so worried about appearances and connections.

Now he wants to use Mildred for one of his “connections”, and marry her off to a wealthy man – the most eligible of the “eligible bachelors”.

Mildred wanted none of it, but how to escape her father’s conniving??

Until one day when Mildred was strolling on 5th Avenue and decided to enter a little bookshop. There on the shelf was a copy of the “Matrimonial Times”.

Staring at those words, the fog in her brain had lifted and a glimmer of hope shone through.

Luke was proud of the farm that he had built with his friends, and after seeing how happy Heath and Samantha were, he was sure Mail-Order Bride would be the perfect way to find a bride.

But when the train arrived, Luke’s heart dropped into his stomach. Mildred’s fancy green dress and bonnet were a sight to behold.

Oh no…….how would this pampered woman ever adapt to life on the farm?

When Millie ran away, and then her Father came to take her back to New York, they had to decide.

Would Millie give up on him? On herself?

Was what they had discovered in each other worth fighting for?

Mildred’s Escape

Mildred escaped from her domineering fathers’ rule and from the horrible man that he had arranged for her to marry. She found Luke in the bridal advertisement and starting corresponding with him. Her only intent was to “use” Luke and then flee somewhere further away. Little did she know that Luke had other ideas as to what their marriage should be.

Very sweet story, but I can’t help but think that her father gave up too easily.

I loved this book. From NYC to middle of nowhere Georgia. Can she handle it and overcome everything else to get a HEA?
