OMG!!! WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Rick and Rue dated growing up, but fourteen years ago he broke up with her when he was drafted into the NFL. Rick thought his career came first and didn't have time for dating. Rue would have followed Rick and finished her studies online, he didn't want her to do that. Now when Rick does an interview one of the reporters that he can't see asks him a question about his dating and career. Rick knows that voice and realizes it's Rue, so he tells her there's only one way he would retire, that by taking a wife. Rick is ushered out of the conference room, but when he tries to find Rue she's gone. While Rick is showering in the locker room Rue comes in, he's the last one. Rick tells Rue he wants to kiss her, and he does. Rue pulls away and tells Rick they need to talk. Rue tells Rick she was assigned to cover his final season, and his search for a spouse. Rick tells Rue he's already found his wife, Rue tells him they can talk tomorrow and she'll interview him. Rue tries to leave but Rick won't let her, he tells her to stop running from him. Rick tells Rue he knows who he's going to marry, and it's her. Rue thinks about Rick all night long, the fact that he broke up with her because of his career. Rue heads to the conference room for Rick's interview. Rue gets the interview she wants from Rick. Rue acts professional this is her job, Rick wants Rue to leave with him, he wants to convince her to marry him. Rue tells him she needs to think about this, she needs this interview, now it's her turn to choose her career. Rue tells Rick she'll write the article from what she has, and leaves. Rue doesn't speak to Rick, she's interviews his teammates and sees him on the field but she avoids him. Rue writes her article and submits it, it's not what her boss wanted but will work. A month passes and the article publishes. Another month passes and Rue scans the sports news on updates about Rick's love life. Rue then gets a phone call from the teams PR rep, telling her she left a recording device at the stadium. Rue has all her things, but they tells her if she doesn't pick it up they throw it out. Rue heads to pick up her device, sure enough it has her name on it. When Rue gets back to her place she listens to the device and realizes that Rick left it for her and he has a message on it. The speech ends but Rue listens again over and over. Rue pulls out her laptop and the words pour from her, and then post it on the internet. Then Rue gets message after message from people all over trying to get an interview with her. Rue pulls out the team schedule and gets a flight and a hotel near the stadium. Once Rue arrives she gets to the stadium, Rick hasn't seen her yet but the some of the other players have. When it's halftime, the player head off the field and Rick sees Rue. Rick asks her what she doing, she tells him they need to talk. Rue tells Rick she has a few final questions for her, when he tells her he doesn't have time, she tells him he promised to support her. Rick takes Rue to a a small room, she asks him if she's still the only woman for him, and he tells her yes. Rue asks Rick if he's going to renewing his contract and he tells her no. Rick tells Rue that if she'll have him he's her always and forever. When someone knocks telling Rick it's time to go he tells them to send in his backup. Rick picks up Rue and takes her to the locker room. Rick tells her he'll be done in five minutes, Rue tells him she has a hotel nearby. Rue tells him she wants him, so he pick her up and they make love. Rick tells sher he loves her and Rue tells him she loves him.
