In the wake of Silversaar’s death, the magical restraint on Malachai’s power has been broken and the knowledge of how to use runic magic has been restored to the Baldomar people.

Far from her elvish homeland, Aeryn Haranae works alongside Josef Erlander to take up the responsibility given to them by Silversaar. If the past and whispers from afar are any indication, Malachai is certain to continue his campaign to subjugate the realm and eradicate the Baldomar. As she learns to live and lead among the Baldomar, it’s difficult to imagine how a small village of farmers and craftsmen can defy Malachai and prevail.

Old and new alliances form as Aeryn and Josef set out once again, this time to build a coalition to fight Malachai. Their efforts lead them into new lands, and the stark realization that the enemy is more formidable than imagined.

When Aeryn realizes triumph is likely to be as tragic and bleak as failure, she secretly strikes a dangerous bargain to alter the trajectory of the war. Freedom for those she loves comes at a cost.

This book introduced one of the best dragons ever: Kalane, Queen of the North. Gotta love her. Malachai is such a good villian. He's not just evil, he also thinks he's doing the right thing while doing it. This book was a wonderful addition and the ending was such a cliffhanger that it made you want more and more! I think part two of the Silversaar Legacy is probably my least favorite, but it's still really good (and there's even some romance starting between the protagonists) and I totally recommend adding it to your TBR list and giving it a read!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series [this is the second], particularly the topics it covered and the sensitivity with which that was done, the pacing was medium-fast most of the time and the characters felt genuinely well-developed.

This second book started off incredibly slow, I would say the first 2/3 of the book led to a slow build-up which didn't feel like it fully paid off in the end. The romance element of the characters developed well (which, is the slowest of slow burns but would have been acceptable had more happening around them, but there really was little else for a good portion of the book). To repeat my critique in the first book, having only Aeryn's thoughts being described by the third person narrator (while at the same time talking _of_ Joseph but not fully explaining his rationale and thoughts/feelings in the same way) made it quite difficult to connect to his character. At least in this book he spoke out loud more so we were able to deduce his motivations a lot more, but it was still a bit harder to connect to him as much.

The story did actually start to progress in terms of movement, but honestly had it been said more succinctly I think I would have gotten a lot more invested - this felt like half a book stretched out too thin (hence my three star rating). I do actually want to continue with the series and am interested in seeing where it heads, so hope to see when the next book comes out!

I enjoyed a lot of the cute scenes between Aeryn and Joseph, and found myself really rooting for them. I love me a man who is committed and that really came across in this book - this is the dynamic I am most looking forward to seeing develop (through the bumps that have been set up at the end of this book) in the next one. No spice once again but .

The narration was good and the accents were great though at times the sound sounded a bit muffled/metalic if that makes sense. It did not affect the ability to hear, just made the sound a bit different.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, which I leave voluntarily.

After the adventure and action of the first book, I was a little disappointed that the first half of this one was so slow. Lots of just every day stuff and building a romance rather quickly when there was supposed to be danger and a war coming.

The second half definitely picked up a bit, but I just never really felt the urgency or high stakes at that point. I feel like there should have been more build up from the beginning.

While I did love that there is now romance brewing between the two main characters, I feel like the pacing of it was done too quickly after nothing in the first book. I would have liked a little bit of tension built first and for it not to become a huge focus. I did enjoy the sweet moments of them together.

Overall I would still recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy and dragons!

The audio was great! Loved all the accents. Thank you to the author for the complimentary copy!

After finishing the first book in the series, I was very excited to see where the story went next. It was not disappointing. The author is great at describing things in such a way that it paints a perfect picture in my head. The stakes are quite high in the story, and I found myself unsure of how things were going to turn out in many instances. At one point, I can truly say that my heart was literally racing as I hastily read through the chapter because of how tense things were in the moment. The ending was great, and as stated earlier, I couldn't possibly conceive how it would transpire. I eagerly await the next book.

This was a great read, it felt like a nice bridge between the first and the third when that comes out. Once again I felt like I was listening in on a wonderful table top game, it was never boring and quite cozy at times I’m really glad I read it near fall. I can’t wait for the 3rd book

I received a free audio version of this book for review; all opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed the narrator while listening to this second entry into The Silversaar Legacy. Her cadence was much better as the narrator shed her stiltedness. As before, she did great giving each character their own voices.
I found this book a lot slower than the first. I felt like there was less action and character development than in the first entry. But there were things I did like. I really enjoyed the authors' version of dragons and the magic they possessed. I think my favorite part is when the main character goes home and makes true peace with her past.
