I’m a seer also, and so read this book with great interest, thinking how wonderful it is that the author took a bold approach regarding this kind of prophetic gift for the sake of edifying and encouraging others. For the most part, the purpose of said gift (which is not better or more important than other spiritual gifts, for we are all different yet pertinent parts of a whole working body) is to understand how to minister to, pray or intercede for someone. We are certainly persuaded, influenced, and stand in the gap for others by spiritual awareness, Word of Knowledge, etc., but should never claim an “I know all” about any individual. This is where I had caution regarding the book’s message. I’d be more apt to overlook the author’s thought in the case of an oddly worded sentence slipping through. However, I discovered the same opinion repeated several times throughout. Statements such as, “I’d never met him, but I knew everything that could be known about him.” This is troubling because scripture tells us that GOD ALONE knows our human hearts. He knows our secrets, purposes, and thoughts. We cannot possibly know everything there is to know about another human being. That negates the trust with which God calls each of us into his arms, and violates the intimate nature God wishes to have with each of us in our own personal relationship with him. (I Corinthians 2:11, I Kings 8:39, etc.). It’s not my place to know everything there is to know about another person nor is it anybody else’s. There is a time coming in the Yohm Ha Din, the Day of the Lord, when everything covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. Judgment Day, although perhaps near, is not yet upon us. So with our spiritual gifts, we are to edify, encourage and help our fellow brethren, one to another; by them we are also drawn closer to the Father, but we are not all-seeing like the Father. There is only one omniscient GOD. This is a good book full of nuggets of insight. I do believe the author’s motivation and intentions were pure but, like everything (apart from the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), are not absolute. There are portions to cherish and parts to discern.

This was recommended (with discernment) by Spirit Daily.

I could not put it down. The author seems genuine, sincere, devout. He is of a different faith tradition than myself, so much of what he writes about sounds slightly foreign to me and yet is still completely comprehensible. This is an autobiographical account and not meant to be a theological treatise. Blake Healy is one human being and this is what he has personally lived, seen and experienced. It is for each reader to read, pray, sift, and determine what is useful for him/her in their own journey.

God is HE WHO IS and so much more than what any one of us can ever explain, write about, know or experience during the longest of lives., so this book is bound to be only the smallest of facets of His Immense Beauty, Holiness, and Truth.

A very interesting book. Not one I can rate, and yet I was encouraged and inspired in my own faith tradition as I read it, although I did not agree with all the author wrote. Still I commend Mr. Healy's respectfulness of all genuine faith traditions which love the LORD, God.

I think most Christian believers in HOLY ANGELS and the ALL MIGHTY GOD would find something here worthwhile, but again, with discernment.

This is not your Sunday school material. Once you start, you will want to finish and then re-read.
Well, I've reread the book and understanding opened more.
With all the horror stories in books and movies, why would the Word of God tell us to seek this gift? Because behind the veil we see more of the Presence of God. And with the Presence of God we receive the very things that would allow us to live a quiet and peaceful life. Yes, behind the veil, one would see the evil that is used to sway people from God with fear as a strong tool in satan's arsenal.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these thing, the things of God, will be added to YOU!

"Seeing in the Spirit is all but worthless if you can’t hear the voice of God."

This book was “written by a Christian targeted at Christians about a Christian topic.” It will make little sense to non-Christians and even many Christians. An experiential-based discussion of Healy’s gift and how it offers a closer walk with God for those who seek it.

"Knowing who God says you are is just as important as knowing who God is."

Purely on the level of communication, this book surpasses ninety percent of Christian theology and literature. Even non-believers will understand most of what Healy is saying even if they don’t think as he does.

"You need the voice of the Holy Spirit in your life for everything. Without it anything can be twisted, but with it anything can be redeemed."

He includes several chapters on practical aspects of obtaining seeing and dealing with blockages, and closes with a helpful appendix of biblical references, but his decision to keep his text conversational increases the potential that the reader will understand and receive his message.

"Seeing isn’t a privilege; it’s your destiny."

This is easily the most impactful book on relationship with God that I've read since The Screwtape Letters and The Chronicles of Narnia. Revelatory. Transformative! It's a nice quick read, as well.

What a fascinating read! If you believe in the continuation of the miraculous spiritual giftings then I think you would enjoy it. If you have not been around charismatic Christianity before it might be a little too strange for you. It is a short 3 hour read about a man who can see the spiritual realm. He simply describes what he sees when he goes to church, on walks, or to a local coffee shop and then at the end of each chapter describes simple truths that he has learned from these experiences. At first I was a little hesitant because I had never heard of this before however it all lines up with scripture and he belongs to a very well respected christian community with orthodox beliefs (Bethel). This book was eye opening for me to see what is going on all around me every day without me even giving it a thought. I think it will change the way I approach prayer and spiritual matters. It was a revelation in so many ways but also so simple and intuitive at the same time. I really enjoyed this book. It stretched me!

This book was A.W.E.S.O.M.E! His insights are both simple and profound. His writing style is easy to read and this book is full of interesting stories and anecdotes. It is not a long book but it is fascinating and a great afternoon or weekend read. Be careful though, you may finish this book and realized your life has changed!

Phenomenal book! Several people had recommended it, so I was pretty prepared with what to expect: lots of stories of Blake’s experience seeing into the spiritual realm. It served as a great introduction for me to the entire concept (and tangible existence) of the spirit realm—which was of course extremely fascinating as anticipated.

What surprised me about this book however was the frequent and absolutely gripping pictures of God’s heart for us that were beautifully displayed by Blake’s stories. Though I was certainly fascinated and deeply intrigued by the spiritual things he has seen and experienced, I was far more moved and touched by the aspects of God’s heart for us that were directly and indirectly depicted throughout his writing.

Definitely a must read for any follower of Christ!

I’m not sure how to review a book of this topic but I am going to default to 5 stars due to boosting the author’s favorability.

This book was enlightening. Challenging. And for any Christian who does not believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit or active prophecy, it likely will be polarizing.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

That was me reading this book. I underlined full paragraphs and regularly spoke out loud with awe.

This is Blake’s story—a memoir for sure. But coupled with…not teaching, exactly, but insight from what he’s learned along the way.

And what was most interesting was not the stories or the how-to’s but THE LOVE OF GOD. If you read this book and discount his encounters and experience, fine. But you can’t read it and not get a GLIMPSE at the depth of God’s love for each of us.

I will read this again along with Healy’s other books.

Wow! If you're a fan of books like, "This Present Darkness" (Peretti) or "The Final Quest" (Joyner) and you believe that such things really do happen in the world today, you'll probably enjoy this non fictional account of a man who has a powerful gift of discernment and ability to see into the spiritual world.

While many of the stories Mr. Healy shares in the book are incredible, they didn't strike me as being implausible or even ostentatious. Nor did I get any sense that his experiences were remotely connected to the pathetic, counterfeit expressions of such gifts that can be seen on cable television or at carnivals or new age fairs.

I also liked the fact that while sharing about his gift and experiences, he kept coming back to emphasize Jesus and our relationship with God. Perhaps that's why he kept saying things like, "...make everything in your life part of your pursuit of God."

Besides the detailed, colorful stories resulting from the author's gift of discernment and Elisha like eyes, I thoroughly enjoyed the message of this short book. He didn't use a lot of scripture but, in my opinion, the heart of his message was sound and is backed up in the teachings of the Bible. I especially enjoyed his call for Christians not to isolate from each other, or look down on others who may not share in their spiritual giftings. Both inappropriate responses seem to be frequent in among Charismatics.

A few quotes I liked -

"That’s the interesting thing about demonic influence, it feels so real when you’re in the middle of it, but the moment you see it clearly it’s no more threatening than a paper-maché bunny."

"I believe it is spiritually immature to say any creative work that doesn’t perfectly comply with our belief system is to be rejected and avoided. It would be equally immature to ignore our own personal convictions and just absorb everything."

"The main justification for spiritual independence is the idea that you can get all that you need from God. While it is true that God is capable of filling every need you will ever have, I do not believe that this is his intent."

"My interactions with other people regarding the things of the spirit were constantly frustrating while my conversations with God were fun and enlightening. The truth was, however, that by keeping my experiences to myself I was limiting the perspective I could have on the things I saw. While every answer is in the heart of God, I believe that he hides some of those answers in the people around us because he wants us to need each other."

This book was one of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read. I’ve had many supernatural encounters in my lifetime and so I’m not a stranger to things like this. But though at times while reading this I found myself thinking, “This seems completely fantastical”, I also understand that the God I serve, who created the universe, time itself, things seen and unseen, can never be put into a tiny box. And just because I haven’t experienced things this way, most certainly does not mean that it’s not done.

What I loved the most about this book was the author’s humility about his gift and how he constantly circles back to the fact that it’s not about the gift but about the relationship with the Father. He also clearly recommends the Holy Spirit teaching you & showing you how to see in the Spirit, as well as highly recommends spiritual coverings of mothers and fathers in the faith who you can go to for advice about things you’re seeing and have accountability.

While you may question some of things in this book, maybe you won’t agree with everything that is said, you will find the author seems very down to earth and genuine in the telling of his encounters and you will hunger for more of God. I’m actually going to read this book again because I read it so fast I feel I need to go back and chew on it more!

I think if you are a Christian with the mindset that the other billions of people on Earth that aren't don't count, then you might like this. I couldn't help thinking that the author may be Schizophrenic and a combo of mental illness and his strict religious upbringing may have resulted in some hallucination of this kind. I have read many books on this subject and this one just created a lot of doubt. Very preachy and left a lot if holes and unanswered questions.

I am currently reading another book about angels that's a bit hard to get through because of all the verbal fluff. In contrast, The Veil is really easy reading and far more insightful than the many other books which detail experiences with angels. For the most part, the author shares his experiences and leaves the interpretation up to the reader. He does share his insights or opinions at times, but is not dogmatic.

I knew what I was getting into when I saw it was written by a Bethel author... along with an endorsement from Bill Johnson himself. I didn’t want to read it but so many people were recommending it to me based on my recent growth in certain spiritual gifts.

My review:
It was a let down- helpful, but I saw the New Age coming from miles away. At one point I laughed so hard because the author said his mentor was fired for walking too much in New Age practices.. so basically the majority of what he himself practices.
The focus of the book is “this can be your gift too” and “the Holy Spirit wants you to have this.”

I personally don’t believe that. However, for someone who is growing in the gift of discernment, this book had its very helpful moments. I would not recommend it to someone, especially if it their first introduction to the spiritual realm. But with a rooted understanding in what scripture says about spiritual things, this book was helpful to me. It had insightful moments and I could easily sift through the prosperity.

Overall, 2/5.

I was first exposed to the idea of a spirit world with Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness." At the time I read it as fiction. Now, after experiencing the other side of the veil, I realize it was not completely a work of fiction. The Veil by Blake Healy was the first book I read with the intention of putting aside the idea of a fictionalized spirit realm. It exists, it's more real than the physical, and it's important to understand it. Whether your still in the fiction phase of belief or not, get this book and learn from Blake.

Blake Healy claims to be able to see the supernatural world with its various demons and angels acting in our lives. If Healy's story later turns it false, it will not change the beautiful images his text pressed upon my mind about the way the supernatural work could possibly be operating all around us. Although I cannot see the supernatural, I choose to believe that it exists; Healy's text confirmed what I have often imagined could be occurring. I recommend this quick read for those who are interested in the way God works through angels and Satan works through demons.

A bold, challenging, and down to earth testimony about the spiritual realm… This book is brave.

I would describe Healy’s approach as candid, honest, and earnest. Despite the phenomenal nature of his content, his writing is simple and unpretentious. Unless your spiritual beliefs happen to align precisely with his, expect to be challenged.

Regardless of the degree to which I agreed with the content, I found his conclusions/takeaways to be most striking, as they undoubtedly lift up foundational aspects of the Christian faith. If you love and have a relationship with Jesus, you can and will be inspired by this book. Ultimately, Healy has a beautiful heart for God, and we are better off as a Christian community for him to share his story.

Wow! I couldn’t stop listening as i began this audio book and i finished it in one day. It brings a whole new perspective to our personal walk with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I feel impacted and a little overwhelmed at all the information contained in this book. Rather than try to describe how good this book is, I recommend everyone that wants a closer relationship with Jesus to read it. It will change your outlook and perception of life. Highly recommended!!

I was unsure about this book, but I really appreciated Healy’s approach which is why I rate it so highly. I found his non-defensive story telling both engaging and disarming. His stories challenged my perceptions of what the spiritual realm would look like and made it feel more accessible to explore and try to understand this area.
