Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.
She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?
Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

"One Steep Forward, Two Steeps Back" is a novela set after the 8th book of Eryn Scott's "Pebble Cove Teahouse" series. I have to say that I'm glad it wasn't a full length book. I much preferred Asher as a ghost and back when he and Rosemary were just best friends. I read cozy mysteries for the lack of ooey gooey or romance. This series just started getting a bit too ooey gooey for my liking in the 6th book.
The mystery was a bit different from the series. It was more of a missing person's mystery rather than a murder mystery. Which is good because it goes by quickly in a novela. Also, Asher plays a bit of a different role. He doesn't have ghost powers anymore. However, if you like a quick paranormal cozy mystery then this is fairly good.
Rosemary and Asher have a chance to make a go of their relationship and they're making the most of things. Mostly because they don't know if this chance is of the forever variety or just a temporary thing. Which would suck, because these two are gooooood together.
Looking to make Asher more official (because, you know, he doesn't have ID or documentation that would work in the modern world), the couple set out to grease a few palms and get what they needed done. Which is to say, the Rickster knows a guy who can get them what they need.
That's all fine and dandy except the Rickster's guy is in a bit of a spot and Rosemary and Asher can't walk away when they know someone's in danger. So they step and do their thing and use the local spirits to help those in need.
A little danger, some new ghostly acquaintances, a don't ask, don't tell policy between another couple, and Rosemary and Asher making the world a little better for both the living and the dead. GOOD STUFF!
Asher now needs some important things so they travel to Portland. While there they get themselves into yet another mystery but not a murder this time. This was a quick and easy novella. Such a great complement to the series. We finally get to see Asher and Rosemary how we wanted to all along. If you enjoyed the books I would suggest reading this but just for fun.
I received this book as a freebie in return for an honest review. I haven't read any of this series before, now I would like to go back to the beginning to catch up. The story was fine as a stand alone, but I think it would have been even better if I'd read the whole series. This is the story of Rosemary and Ash, a love story with a mystery to solve - well a few mysteries actually. One mystery leads to another, and another lol.
Another great chapter in Rosie and Ash's love story. They work hard to try to get Ash id and have to help some people along the way. The Rickster steers them to a friend in Portland and then they have to help Chester find his girlfriend. Great help from other ghosts as well. Cute followup to Ash becoming human again.
This is a great novella that would be considered 8.5 of the Tea By the Sea mysteries. It, of course, features all of our favorite characters but thus time Rosemary is visiting Portland and we're introduced to yet another of "The Rickster's guys".
It was a nice way to end the series that I enjoyed so much.
Figured I might as well quickly read this final novella, since it was on my Kindle along with the series bundle. The mystery didn’t draw me in very much, as there weren’t many pages for plot development, but it was nice getting just a little more time with the characters after the events of the last book.
