One month. It took one month to finish this…. Wow…
But on the other hand, it makes sense. This book was HUGE! Not only did it have all of 432 pages, so not only was it a thick book, it was both taller and wider than a regular book.
A lot to read in other words.
But anyone that knows anything about Galenskaparna & After Shave shouldn’t be surprised. They have been PRODUCTIVE!
Galenskaparna & After Shave have been influential as a comedy group within Swedish humor as it were. During the 1980’s and 1990’s you couldn’t avoid them. They were EVERYWHERE! Making revues, tv-shows, movies, music… Everywhere!
As a kid that was in school during this time, all of the kids at school knew quotes and songs both from their movies, tv-shows and songs. You didn’t know any of the stuff that Galenskaparna & After Shave had done, there was something wrong with you pretty much. So they have had a huge impact on my childhood and teen years. The whole family LOVED them!
I am SO HAPPY that me, hubby and my lil brother managed to watch them on stage in Gothenburg at the theater that they collectively own. It was AMAZING!
So when I saw this book, I HAD to read it! Yes, it was very long, but the passion behind every word written by Kalle Lind and Henrik Jutbring just makes the language flow easily! That both of them are HUGE fans are beyond clear! It doesn’t stop them from throwing in some criticism here and there. And they don’t shy away from the dark parts of such an intense collaboration either. The fact that they all have stayed friends during ALL these years is probably a bit of a miracle. They’ve had some breaks here and there from each other but still found their way back to each other. I do not blame them for those breaks at all.
All hail Kerstin Granlund though, the only woman among six gentlemen… And all hail Peter Ragnmar who sadly died from skin cancer at the height of their success in 1997.
I don’t think there can ever be a more in depth book about Galenskaparna & After Shave. Lind and Jutbring have really gone through their entire career in DETAIL! So any fan or any curious person should really read this.
I TRULY enjoyed this! Such a shame I couldn’t find it as an audiobook though. My lil brother, who is probably a bigger fan than me, has dyslexia and won’t be able to read this as a regular book.
High praise regardless!!!
