About the author

Christopher Bollas, Ph.D. is a Member of the International Psychoanalytical Association and has been practicing for over fifty years. Former Director of Education at the Austen Riggs Center he was Visiting Professor of Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Child Neuropsychiatry of the University of Rome. He is a prolific author and international lecturer.

Spokojnie można przeczytać tę książkę tak do połowy. Najważniejsze eseje są po prostu zebrane w pierwszej części. Bardzo miły jest wstęp, z którego dowiadujemy się, że Bollas oprócz tego, że jest analitykiem, jest jeszcze doktorem literatury. Od zawsze wychodził z założenia, że to właśnie w powieściach znajdzie najwięcej psychoanalitycznego materiału, który go interesuje. Potem mamy krótki słowniczek wyjaśniający najważniejsze pojęcia, które wprowadził, tj.: idom, psychiczna genera, obiekt wywołujący. Jeśli mam polecić najlepsze eseje, to te: osobowość normotyczna (o tym, że są ludzie dla których samochód jest tak ważny, jak członek rodziny i że jest to trochę dziwnie akceptowane społecznie), popęd przeznaczenia (o tym dlaczego wybieramy to, co wybieramy), faszystowski stan umysłu, rozwiązanie dylematu edypalnego a relacje społeczne.
