Story Review:
Another well written shorty. For some reason the Hero’s in this series aren’t drawing me in like usual. I still liked it and enjoyed it.

Sexy. Sensual. Sweet. Those are three words I would use to describe Heart of the Jaguar. As with the other Cravings by Katie, you get to see shifters meet, fall for each other, and overcome an enemy of sorts. They are perfect to read if you want to read a book that engages you and lets you forget the real world for a couple of hours.

In Heart of a Jaguar, Cindy isn't looking for a a long term mate. She has been hurt in the past regarding something she can't change about herself, so she isn't going to allow herself to fall again. Elias is drawn to Cindy from the moment he meets her. Could this be his mate? He never thought he would find a mate, so he can't be sure. However, these two are undeniably drawn to each other. They share a passionate night together, just relying on their instincts and needs. What surprises them both is that this desire and need for one another is not sated after just one night. It grows into something more.

I love alpha wolves and strong jaguars. Cindy was a perfect match for Elias. She doesn't back down and keeps him on his toes - something he is learning to love about her. Katie does such a good job writing paranormal characters. You are able to understand them in a way that they almost seem real. The intimate scenes are very tasteful and appropriate to the characters and the story, and certainly hot! If you are looking for a sexy, paranormal romance, I recommend you try Heart of a Jaguar!

I enjoyed this fun, sexy, shifter read full of scorching hot chemistry and suspense.

Cindy, a jaguar shifter is the local doctor who is hoping to find a one-night, no-strings romp with a sexy stranger to satisfy her needs. Cindy thinks she's in luck when she meets Elias, a wolf shifter who not only meets her needs; he blows her socks off! But Elias is not passing through town, he's in town to stay as the new second-in-command to the local Alpha.

Elias knows it's the mating call and Cindy is his mate. As he begins pursuing her, strange "accidents" appear to be targeted toward Cindy and Elias is determined to find and stop whoever is trying to harm her. Will Elias be able to keep Cindy safe? Will Cindy be able to resist Elias and the mating call?

Recommended read.

See, I have a specific breed of shifter that I abosultely love above all other.. car shifters.
I love me some wolf, but cats; lions, tigers etc? and the fact this one has pumas? ooh purrrr.

This short story, is about Dr. Cindy Shahi, a puma shifter who wants nothing more than a one night stand. She is tired of the obligation that comes with getting invovled with the shifters in the surrounded area, so when a handsome wolf shifter is in town for the wedding of her friend, it is the perfect solution in Cindy's mind. She gets the hot wolf, for a whole night full of sinful pleasure.

Too bad, Elias have other plans in mind for her than leaving her, after their yummy night. He knows she is his mate, and he will do anything to convince her of that fact. Elias wants nothing more than to have his precious mate, and be with her.
For me there is nothing sexier, than a hot determined werewolf who wants you to be his one and only.

I always find novellas a bit lacking, usually because they are too short and there are many elements missing, but Katie is one of the few authors, where I know whether it is a novella or a full length book, I know she will always deliver.

The chemistry between Elias and Cindy is ooh-mama off the chart. I love reading about the journey it takes Elias to from meeting Cindy, to getting her in his bed and keeping her there, and the next goal? getting to her heart and keeping it ;)

This is such a sweet story about two people coming from two different directions in their lives, and both wanting to meet in the middle in resolving their commitment issues.

This is definitely a story worth reading.

*I received an ARC, for my honest review about the book*

Cindy doesn’t bother with long term relationships any longer. She learned long ago in a painful way that a mate will never be part of her life. She is content with finding no strings partners for a quick tumble. When she meets Elias at a friend’s wedding she believes that is exactly what she is getting. After all Elias is just there for the wedding or so she believed.

Elias is more than happy for his friend and his recent mating. The trip to the wedding soon turns into more than just a trip when he is offered a job. The trip just keeps getting better for him when the sexy jaguar shifter he has been watching shares an instant attraction and is more than eager to quickly become more intimate.

The circumstances behind Elias and Cindy’s initial hook up allows for the romance to progress at an accelerated rate while staying believable. Cindy and Elias are easily likeable and make a great pair. Elias is one of the most laid back alphas I have read outside of humorous romances. He is fairly easy going and will do anything to make the woman he knows is his mate happy. The characters from the past books in this world make brief appearances, but they all still work as stand alones.

My only complaint (and it is a very minor one) was the abrupt and easy resolution to the evil doer of this tale. For the most part it is known from the moment this particular character steps on the page that he is the one causing trouble in Cindy’s life. There was just not much conflict in the manner in which he is brought down and it all happens rather rapidly.

This morning I got a chance to read Katie Reus soon to be latest novella Heart of the Jaguar. Since this a novella, I'm not going to bore you with my personal synopsis of the story. However, I will share my thoughts.

Overall, I liked the story. I love the magnetism between Cindy and Elias. Both of them felt this pull towards one another even though they are different shifters. I guess when you find your mate, it doesn't matter if they are different type of shifter. I enjoyed the fact that Cindy was trying to fight the pull to be with Elias, because she thought she what was best for the both of them. I love Elias, because he didn't care about her one flaw. He loved her no matter what.

Plus, I like the sense there was danger among them. Even though they are both shifters, they aren't complete invincible to some dangers. As I said I enjoyed this story. Now I need to go back and read the others. So, if you are looking for a quick read with a hint of danger and shifters, you might want like to read Heart of the Jaguar.

Check out my other listens at Eargasms Audiobook Reviews

What a nice yummy little read!! I may have to get back in to Harlequins if they are anything like this! A great story filled to the brim with steam!! And oh boy do they deliver on the hot and heavy!!

I really liked Cindy from the start, bold and confident independent woman!! Love that! Sure she is dealing with a small insecurity but she does a great job of shaking it off!

Elias is a delicious Alpha-type wolf!! I love it when they have all that strength and dominance and still give in to their lady love!!

They really are a perfect match and compliment each other sweetly!!

The side story is ok, a touch on the predictable side. But this is short book so you can't expect things to get too complicated.

I listened to the audiobook and it was a super fast listen. I like the narrator but did not fall in love with her. She did a nice job with the voices I just could have used a bit more in the characterizations.

This is a wonderful love story. Katie Reus can do more in a short story than I thought possible. I got to know the main characters and actually felt like I got a complete story. Again I wish it had been longer, but am looking forward to her next jaguar story.

Cindy and Elias are two people who thought they’d never mate and had come to terms with it as best they could. That is until their paths cross and they’re hit with intense desire for each other. The sex is very steamy and Cindy and Elias balance each other nicely. Cindy deals with the hurt from her past with the love and acceptance of Elias. There is a bit of angst and a mystery to solve.

Similar to the first book in the series, A Jaguar's Kiss, this one was quick and held a bit of danger and some steamy sex. Cindy is the local doctor and a jaguar shifter. After two years without, she wants sex. Badly. But she doesn't want to deal with any sort of territorial, possessive shifter male from town and the resulting drama. No, she needs a transient. At the reception for Owen and Gabriela's wedding, she finds someone from out of town. Perfect, right?

Elias has recently left the military after blowing out his knee as a result of a parachuting accident after which he couldn't shift into his wolf to heal quickly and properly. Having served with Owen prior to his coming home to be alpha, Elias has been invited to join his pack as Owen's second, which hasn't been announced yet. So when Cindy asks about Elias being from around there, he tells her the truth, but not that he's staying.

The day after meeting Elias finds Cindy to begin his courting of her. After being confronted by a local of six months who's set on Cindy, she becomes victim to first vandalism and then threats to her life. As the local sheriff works on solving these crimes, Cindy and Elias have a pretty good idea who it is. It, of course, becomes Elias' mission to protect Cindy, which he accomplishes. The two find their HEA by the end of the book and there is no cliffhanger. This book could be read as a stand-alone if desired.

While I liked the narrator's (Alexandra Fisher) voice, it didn't have much for range. The male voices sounded much like the female voices and the voices of different characters also sounded very similar.

As a huge reader of the paranormal genre, I openly admit that I'm hard to please when it comes to anything to do with shifters and soulmates. And while this book was a great read, it fell in the great one time read category for me, and is probably something I won't return to.

I did enjoy the chemistry between Cindy and Elias, but I felt as if the actual relationship was too rushed. I struggled to find an actual emotional connection between them, and that is what took some of the genuine interest right out of the book for me. So while this was a good read, I am disappointed that I wasn't as blown away as I wished to be.

This was... fine. For a paranormal romance it wasn't terribly paranormal (the paranormal parts were the outlines - the hero moves to a new town because he is the second of the wolf-pack; there is some running around in jaguar and wolf form), and the basic plot was (a) commitment-phobic heroine (which I love) and (b) half-hearted stalker plot (which I hate). Definitely a lot of sex scenes, but I didn't feel particularly emotionally connected to either character. I did appreciate that .

Cindy Shahi is a jaguar shifter living closely with another family pride, but she has no family of her own. She's been alone for a while and at her friend's wedding to a wolf shifter is on the prowl for some no-strings-attached sex. She's avoided relationships knowing that she has a particular problem that keeps men from wanting more . She meets Elias and is pleased when he says he's in town for the wedding, but she finds out after she takes off the next morning that he's sticking around to be the Alpha's second in command. And he hears the mating call with her and wants a lot more than one night.

This was okay...I'm seeing a pattern with this author where there are things left unexplained that feel like they should be. In this case it's Cindy's little "problem." It's what makes her hesitant to start anything with Elias, but it doesn't hold her back for long once he tells her he's fine with it. But Cindy doesn't really explain much about her problem...she only mentions that

Originally posted at That's What I'm Talking About

Heart of the Jaguar opens with the wedding of Bear Mountain Wolf Pack leader Owen and his mate, Gabriela, whom we met in the story A Jaguar’s Kiss. Here we are reintroduced to the town doctor Cindy, a jaguar shifter, who is in attendance with her best friend Israel, brother of Gabriela.

While in attendance, Cindy spies Elias, a wolf shifter, who is in town for his good friend’s wedding. Unknown to anyone at the time, Elias plans to settle down into the Bear Mountain pack and become second-in-command to Owen.

After being hurt badly in a relationship during graduate school, Cindy has remained aloof and distant when it comes to men. It’s been a while since Cindy has fulfilled her jaguar’s sexual needs, and no-strings-attached sex is just what she needs. Cindy and Elias experience an intense initial attraction, and since Cindy thinks Elias is only in town for the wedding, he is the perfect candidate to fill her desires.

Once again Ms. Reus shines with her sexy shifter novellas! Heart of the Jaguar is loosely tied to the previous books, with locale and characters linking them; however, it is not necessary to read any of the prior stories to enjoy each of them individually.

What I enjoy most about Ms. Reus’s shifter novellas, which holds true for this one as well, is that the story stays focused on the primary couple growing in their relationship, with any conflict coming from an external source and not internal between the hero and heroine. In Heart of the Jaguar, Cindy and Elias are open and honest with their intensions from the start. They realize that there is huge chemistry between them and are open to it being something more than physical. Elias recognizes it as the mating call. Instead of just sitting back on the information, he shares this with Cindy.

I also like that Cindy lays her concerns on the table early on in the relationship, even knowing that she may lose Elias because of it. Cindy has some issues that caused the breakup with her former fiancé, but rather than hide from Elias and her own feelings, she trusts him and opens her heart to the mating call. The author could have used any number of things to keep the couple separated and delay their union, but instead she choses to allow the characters to take chances, permitting their love to develop and thrive.

The mystery of who is threatening Cindy is secondary to the romance and concludes without major drama or incident. It was a good plot vehicle for getting the pair together on a more permanent basis. In addition, the storyline added just a touch of suspense which made the short story more exciting.

Overall, Heart of the Jaguar is another well-written, sexy shifter novella from Ms. Reus. The story has great set-up and romance. The mating is quick - it's a novella - so there are speedy "I love you’s," which I'm not a huge fan of. However, it felt right - the timing wasn't out of the blue. The pair had immediate chemistry and it worked.

Ms. Reus's shifter novellas are the perfect “get away” romance reading. You can take yourself on a mini-vacation for an hour or so, getting lost in the exciting, sexy world she has created. Heart of the Jaguar is no exception with it’s romance with sizzling smex. The conflict is muted but adds to the overall story. Heart of the Jaguar is a very enjoyable romantic read.

Setting: were complex in Montana; her clinic/home;

Theme: falling in love when didn’t expect it;

Characters:
Cindy Shahi: town doctor; jaguar shifter; her parents have wanderlust = she is packless, though the Wright pack appreciates her expertise and have made a place for her; she can’t have children (cubs?), and her boyfriend walked away from her – she has not risked her heart since, expecting others to feel the same way;

Summary:

And he’s not having of it…he is pretty sure he has found his mate… so he decides to court her; he charms her into dinner, but when a human approaches, about to intervene – a human who has asked her out but she told no – she agrees to have dinner with him. REVIEW: HEART OF THE JAGUAR is the fifth installment in Katie Reus’s Nocturne Craving Paranormal series of novellas. This particular series is NOT connected to Katie’s Moonshifter series, but is series of short stories focusing on the lives and loves of the shifter wolves and jaguars in Bear Mountain, Montana.

Heart of the Jaguar follows wolf shifter Elias, the pack alpha’s new second in command and Dr. Cindy Shahi, a jaguar and local physician. The chemistry is instant when the couple meet at the wedding of mutual friends, but Elias’s wolf only knows one thing-Cindy is his mate. Cindy on the other hand wants nothing to do with long term relationships-she had a secret and was willing to bet that no shifter male would take her on as his mate

Threats against the couple begin to escalate placing Cindy and Elias in danger. Believing they know who is responsible, the information is handed over to the local police, but all too soon, the rules of the game change when a late night drive turns deadly and the couple are forced to shift in order to save their own lives.

HEART OF THE JAGUAR is another fascinating storyline from the pen of Katie Reus. Although this series of novels can be read as stand-alones, there is enough of a connection between the storylines that they should be read in order to keep the character and world building cohesive. I am a big fan of Katie Reus, and she has yet to disappoint this reader.

"Heart of the Jaguar" by Katie Reus. A paranormal romance novella.

I really enjoyed this novella about Elias and Cindy. Who doesn't love werewolves and jaguars? The chemistry between Elias and Cindy is explosive!

Elias is a lone wolf. But he's looking for a pack to join, so when his friend Owen asks him to be his second-in-command of his pack while he's at Owen's wedding, he can't refuse. The last thing he expects is to meet the woman of his dreams...who happens to be a jaguar. To top it off, he's been told to stay away from her. Not a chance. When he learns that all she wants from him is a one night stand, there is no way he'll accept that. This is the mating call he feels, and he knows he and Cindy are ment to be together.

Cindy is a lone jaguar. She doesn't belong to a pack but she lives near her best friend's jaguar family. That's good enough for her. While attending the wedding of her best friend's sister, she meets Elias, the most gorgeous wolf she's ever met. Giving in to her sensual urges, all she wants is one night with him. No attachments. No commitments. But now Elias won't leave her alone. But maybe that's a good thing, since someone is stalking her....

The storyline was great even though it was pretty obvious who the stalker was. The story of Cindy's background is quite emotional. Overall, this is a great novella. I really enjoyed it.

It was an awesome hot read very well written :)
Was written sensually and the storyline flowed well for such a short story
Elias was a determined shifter ,as Cindy just wanted some fun because of her complex past of her parents abandonment to seek their own life ..she didn't have any connections she found commitment not easy and also she felt a less of a woman because of issue with not having cubs she thought she was a less of a shift
This story was sweet because Elias began to break down those barriers with Cindy and she began to trust him so in turn she learnt the meaning of being in love..Elias was a sweet concerned wolf shifter I loved how he was so attentive towards Cindy all the time and how protective he was towards her as an ex boyfriend was out to kill her
The sex between them was hot and the mating scene was so sensually written it really made u think u where there ...an awesomely written book will be definitely reading more by this author loves it :)

Unforeseen Love!!!

Cindy Shahi a jaguar shifter and Elias a werevolf shifter......It was instant attraction as the latter and the former laid eyes on each other..... Their inner beasts were clawing to get out and play.

After their night of passion, Cindy assumed that she would never see Elias again but she got a rude awakening when she cane face to face with him outside her practice.....Not wanting to let what he felt between go, Elias asked Cindy out on a date which she wanted to refuse but still agreed to it.

Cindy found herself enjoying Elias' company more than she expected to but at the end of their date, they found out that someone targeting Cindy......Not taking any chances with his future mate (if Cindy would stop and listen to her inner jaguar), Elias' protectiveness came out full throttle.

For two people who never thought of settling down to find each other and fall in love was a beautiful journey for them and us.

I was pleased to see Katie return to this world and expand it slightly with another novella, I was effortlessly pulled into this story and although I have read her previous novella's and highly recommend them all - it isn't necessary to be able to enjoy this one.

In Heart of the Jaguar we have Dr. Cindy Shahi, a proud woman who has been along for too long, her inner Jaguar has needs but she has stopped herself from enjoying the available males in town. When Elias, a wolf shifter, comes to town she assumes he is just passing through and gives into his advances. It soon becomes apparent their encounter has upset someone and they need to find out who before someone gets hurt.

My only real complaint with these is that I always want more! If only Katie didn't need to sleep...

Heart of the Jaguar

Cindy is the only shifter doctor in the town of Bear Mountain, she had moved here when her best friend from college suggested she come as the resident doctor was retiring. Cindy was not part of the local pack but they had accepted and cared for her as one of their own from the very first moment she arrived.

Elias was a soldier, he served in the special forces and he loved it but after blowing his knee out he was forced to retire. With nowhere he really needed to be one of his special forces team and his closest friend Owen invited him to Bear Mountain for his wedding and asked him to stay and stand beside him as his second in command of his pack.

Neither Elias or Cindy had ever believed they would meet their true mate but fate had other ideas

What can I say about Katie Reus that has not been said already by me or others? Well I can say...she's done it again! She has written a fast and dirty (pun) novella about a jaguar and a wolf who are very combustible when they get together.

I love these sweet little morsels that Katie serves us in her shifter stories. She did not disappoint with this story. You are drawn to the couple from the start. The fun for me was watching how the oh so sexy Elias (yes he is as sexy as his name) was going to convince the good doctor that they were meant to be together.

If you are looking for a sexy read that you can swallow in one bite, this is your novella. It is definitely worth reading.

Another excellent story in this series. Katie Reus knows how to pull a reader in and keep their attention to the very end. I love how the couple meets at a wedding, allowing us to catch up with previous characters. While Dr. Cindy Shahi (a jaguar shifter)only wants a one night stand, Elias (a wolf shifter) wants a more permanent relationship. The story shows us how he tries to convince Cindy to let it be more. In addition to the love story, there is unexpected danger. Will Cindy and Elias get their HEA before the bad guy can ruin it for them???

"positively magnetic." Those are two words to describe this story.
I got into this story and did not want to put it down. Katie has written another story that just pulls you in until the end.
Elias went after what he wanted. Cindy was scared and did not want to get involved. She was not too sure about it.
Cindy wanted just one night. She ended up with a lot more than that.

This is the first book I've read in this series. It can be read as a stand alone, but after getting a glimpse of other characters in this installment I'll definitely be going back to read the other books. This is a great short summer read. There's a little mystery and a whole lot of romance. Katie Reus doesn't disappoint.

Katie has done it again. This is the very spicy tale of Cindy, a Jaguar shifter, and Elias, a wolf shifter. Their passion sizzles as they do the mating dance all the while dealing with a dangerous stalker. What a perfect match these two are. Cindy is strong, fearless and in control while Elias is a very Alpha male who protects what he loves. I did enjoy this fast paced sexy story.
