I love her ' lots of pictures, bright furniture or interesting object against inky walls' look but I'm taking stars off for the poor writing/editing cos I'm harsh like that. But seriously, don't use phrases you don't know how to spell! What the hell do you think an 'anty' is? 'Up the anty' (sic). And it's 'en masse' not 'on mass'. And can wallpaper be bijou? Probably no-one else cares but I found myself getting irritated as I read it! Pretty pictures though. I'll edit the next one in exchange for a free supermarket style sweep around her shop...

I liked this book for a number of reasons, the photos were gorgeous, the style tips were practical, I like how there were little definitions for different styles so you could pick and choose your own.
It felt very personal and calm, the author was a friend helping you decorate your house. "Choose what you like" it felt like she was saying to me.

The one part I didn't like was the "DIY Decor" while they might have been useful to some, I just found them a little bit off putting and I hated every single one of them, sorry Ahern!

This was a bit dark (photography-wise) for my tastes but I enjoyed the book, it was a quick, fun read. She advises that she commonly uses 7 light sources in one room, at a minimum?! Who would have thought?! I counted, and she is true to her word. I’m definitely inspired to get myself more lamps! And maybe use the ones I already have!

I went books shopping a couple of days ago, and as I was leaving the bookshop, this book cover attracted my attention. It was the use of these inky colors with hues or greens and that modern touch that made me buy it on the spot.

I'm addicted to design in any form, hence I'm a designer, but of late interior design has taken a huge space in my mind. I guess with me being engaged and all that, the near elation of my touch covering a space of my very own makes me always looking for the next next project.

In any case, I adored this book, not all that's in it defines my style but I learned so much about DIY projects, picking colors and so on. I love to enhance my knowledge, and I seriously can't wait to decorate my space, and make our small apartment a home, for myself and my hubby.

The book has a correct set-up and contains information relating to styles, lighting, colors, do it yourself projects and the little black book of Abigail Ahern herself. It's easy to read and contains beautiful pictures. Although various styles are discussed in the book - they are substyles of Abigails own eclectic and moody colored style. If you are not into her personal style or you are looking for a general overview book on decorating this book is probably not for you.
