An Accidentally Yours Novella

The God of Male Virility Has Never Had a Date . . . Until Now

"Make no mistake, I am not the sort of god who enjoys playing games. When I return, you will tell me everything - who and what you are - then we shall spend the evening making love."

When Maggie O'Hare hears those words she thinks she's lost her mind. One minute she was traipsing around the Mayan jungle looking for her father's excavation site; the next she's accused of being immortal by a guy who swears he's a god. And as for the making love part... well, the fact that it sounds like a very good idea is a sure sign she's gone mad. But this guy who calls himself the God of Virility - he's superhot. And every time he touches her, something crazy happens.

Backlum Chaam has waited seventy thousand years to meet the woman Fate has chosen for him, and now that she's here, he can't believe his luck. Maggie is brilliant and gorgeous and everything he could have dreamed of... except that she insists she's human. But Chaam knows that's impossible-a god could never love a human. And if he seduces one, their passion could have the power to destroy mankind...

So, he's evil. Give the guy a break! He had his heart broken. That is a perfectly logical excuse for going on to rape, torture, and kill thousands. Sheesh! Some people are so judgey...

As Cimil says: "Evil is the new good."

So, this book is about the evil villain from the first book. We get to understand what made him so evil. Frankly, I don't care why he's a bad guy, but when I find out it's because he's butthurt, I don't empathize. But, nooo, let's all feel sorry for him and see that it wasn't his fault. And, that's what this book is all about. Feeling sympathy. Well, I don't do sympathy that well. (Shocking, isn't it?)

Yeah, he gets it...

It was still a fun story, though. All of these books bring the funny.

Accidentally Evil is #3.5 in the Accidentally Yours series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. First, I just have to say this…OH…MY…GOSH!!!

Ok, I got that out of the way. I feel better. This is a short novella concentrating on the evil brother of the Gods, Chaam. Chaam is the god of male virility. He has spent 70,000 years helping others but he himself is alone and lonely. He has given up hope that he will someday meet his own soul mate, until one day in 1934 when Chaam finds the beautiful Margaret O’Hare lost and unconscious in the jungles of Mexico. He instantly falls in love with this beautiful woman. But the most perplexing thing is that he is able to touch her. How can this be possible? Usually mortals cannot endure the touch of a God.

Margaret wakes up to see the most beautiful man she has ever seen. Who or what is he? Her father has been missing for three days and she has been searching for him but has no idea what happened to her and how she ended up here.

This novella explains the events that took Chaam from being a God falling in love for the first time, to the evil Chaam that we meet in book one. And, of course, Cimil is involved. Right now I am shocked beyond belief at Cimil’s actions. I want to believe that there is a reason she orchestrated the events of this book but right now I want to hate her. I guess the only thing to do is to continue on to book four.

This short story suffers a bit from lack of development and from the cliff-hanger endings that this author is way too fond of. In my opinion, these types of endings are only necessary to draw people on to the reading of the next story when the characters and story line are not interesting enough to do so on their own. This author does not have that problem, so I am not sure why she persists in using this annoying mechanism, risking losing readers out of frustration and disgust.

This tale is about the God of Male Virility and shows what happened to cause him to become evil which is a central point to the greater stories.

The characters are idiosyncratic and Cimil is crazy, as is usual.

I enjoy reading the stories; I just wish the author would give up the cliff-hanger crutch.

We finally got Chaam's back story. How the God of male virility became accidently evil. This does not justify Chaam's atrocities but I like Mimi's style. It's so addictive. And it ended on another cliff hanger. Going to read the next one soon.

I did something I rarely do: I read this book before reading any of the other books in the series. The blurb and the cover caught my eye, and I knew that I would love this book, so I said yes to reviewing it. While this novella worked well as a stand alone, I couldn't help but think that I was missing out on a lot by not reading the other books in the series.

This was the perfect novella for me. In a short amount of time, I was able to connect to both the heroine, Not having read the other books in the series, I'm afraid to say to much for fear of giving something away because I have a feeling that the hero in this book is the villain in the other books. This book does an excellent job of explaining how things went so wrong for Chaam, and damn if my heart didn't ache for him at the end of the book.

The romance happened really fast, but it totally worked and got me behind both of the main characters and fighting for them at the end. The romance managed to have a little bit of everything: Hot sex, a big misunderstanding, and a shocker of an ending that made me want the next book in the series now! I can't wait go back and read the other books in the series now.

Love the first novella of this series.. Its short but with a lot of quirky sayings ( more then Cimil's own) and with a whole lot of sense in what we already read.
It can be a stand alone novella, because you do not need to read the first 3 books to understand, although its definitely better if you've read them.

Mimi does not disappoint in this short story, its fun, has its steamy scenes and images, plus lots of fun to read.

I enjoyed it a lot, ad will recommend!!

My Thoughts

This was actually a good short story. We met Chaam in the first book of this series (Accidentally in Love With...A God?) and he was a majorly evil guy. He was determined to destroy all humans. Now we learn what started it all. He used to be like all the other gods and have the bond inside him that compelled him to help humans. Then he met Margaret. Margaret is a young woman who is plagued by her own demons. With the burning need to find her father, she runs into Chaam. From the moment he meets her he knows the universe made this woman just for him. This is such a sweet story in the beginning and then things take a turn for the horrible. We learn where and how the black jade was discovered, how Chaam turned into the evil being we saw him as, and who else is involved in his story. The only plus side to the ending of this story is that it leaves you with the feeling that there will be more in store for Chaam and Margaret and they may get their happy ending sometime in the future. I recommend reading this short story if you are reading the series because it adds a depth to a character that we see as pure evil. I enjoy seeing back stories and this one was very informative. Once again, if you haven't read this series then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? Warning: adult content.

Book Review- Accidentally…. Evil? By Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

This was a short novella between book number three and four in the Accidentally series. I have not read the other books, so this was just a taste for me. I really like the female character in this novella. She was full of sarcasm and wit. She is definitely a girl after my own heart. The story and banter between Maggie and Chaam was fun to read. I was a bit confused with the back story having not read any of the other books. I would suggest doing that before reading this novella. This novella was a more in the moment type of read. There wasn’t a lot of past information given. Maggie’s father is on a archaeological dig at an ancient Mayan ruin. Her mother has recently died and Maggie has travelled to Mexico with her father. The novella starts with Maggie waking up just outside of the jungle with no idea how she got there. She turns to see her surroundings and gets an eyeful of Chaam’s naked backside next to the dock. The conversation she has in her head is absolutely hilarious. I would definitely recommend this novella but I would read the others first. I give this 4 out of 5 for the humor that the characters exhibit.

Fast, funny, smart & sexy! I would promote the coining of this phrase or the use of the acronym FF&SS on behalf of Mimi and the Accidentally series.

In this short story Mimi includes all these qualities effortlessly while making us laugh, fan ourselves, fill in a few gaps from her overall Accidentally series and even manage to get out an OMG and WTF from us at the end.

If you’re a first time Mimi Pamfiloff reader and pick up this novella you need not worry about reading her other books first, but I strongly suggest you to at some point. This could be read as a stand alone novella, and rest assured you can expect more FF&SS from the rest of the series.

For the rest of us, we get to know the how’s and why’s behind the Evil in the series, but I personally wait impatiently for the next one.

In one word, ENLIGHTENING!

The fact that I devoured this novella in less than 24 hrs should be a enough testament of how absolutely good it was!
Mimi Jean not only matched but surpassed the quality of her previous three books (Accidentally series).
This novella enlightens the reader as to why/when/how things happened in the previous books; it was an amazing way to give us a well-rounded background and perhaps tie lose ends...not to mention, a generous gift while we "patiently" (NOT!) wait for book 4!
Mimi brilliantly keeps the reader entertained, laughing out loud & definitely delivered on her promise of more HOT deities with even HOTTER, sexy scenes! I HATE cliffhangers but I will take as many as I have to as long as Mimi Jean keeps writing!

PS: And no, I'm not related to her in any way, shape or form so this review is completely unbiased! :)

Screw ball comedy is not for me, and this had everything from zanny characters to wacky dialogue to dramatic, cliche plot devices. Chaam is an ancient deity, lonly nad hoping for love. Maggie is human and lost in the jungle. Chaam finds her and demands she become his mate, of course she refuses and misunderstandings ensue. Maggie is over the top, malodramatic and simple. Chaam is a bit more complex, he's the god of male virility but is a virgin. He falls in love with Maggie, she is ripped away from him and he becomes evil. His redemption story might be more interesting.

I don't want to spoil it, but I was sort of bored with it because its pretty much the same as the other books.
Demanding alpha male, headstrong woman, arguing ensues and leads to passion.

Then the end came and it was SO worth it.

>>>>> My Synopsis (Actual Review Follows) <<<<<
Margaret O'Hare had never found the 'one' and conceded she probably never would. Just when she'd decided something was broken within her, the unexpected happened. She found him. Perhaps he was the reason no other man had never been able to stir her emotions.

Backlum Chaam had spent seventy thousand years without a mate which was ironic as he was the God of Male Virility. Gods, however, didn't have mates as a rule only humans did. His fellow gods paid him little respect, but he knew the importance of his job. Without copulation a species couldn't survive, and sex was one of the necessary ingredients to help "cement the bond between two souls."

Over the years he'd hoped one day he'd obtain a mate. He'd seen many relationships develop over the years and longed to have a meaningful relationship of his own--to have a mate and end his loneliness. When he comes across Margaret O'Hare and she can see and touch him he's overjoyed. He assumes she is the Creator's gift to him for his many millennia of hard work ensuring everyone but himself and other gods had sex.

But as fate would have it, the universe can be cruel, and just as many men have succumbed, she may prove to be his greatest downfall or at least weakness....

>>>>> My Review <<<<<
This is a lighthearted, fun, not to be taken seriously good time romp of a read. I was smiling, laughing, and shaking my head as I made my way through this novella. It served as a nice contrast to the book Gone Girl, which is notably the exact opposite of this book. I was simultaneously reading the two and I so needed the counterbalance this one provided.

Backlum Chaam, as I mention in my teaser synopsis, is the God of Male Virility. He's a prime example of an alpha male and about as sexy as they come. He was also a seventy thousand year old virgin. So imagine if you will a man, er, god who's craved a mate and intimacy for that long. He is not about to let her go and feels in his gut that fate has brought them together. Whether that is true remains to be seen as he realizes she is what she claims--a human. But humans aren't supposed to be able to touch or be touched by the gods. Is she truly a gift from the universe or could she be a ploy sent by the Maaskab to destroy him? That is the dilemma he must face.

Margaret O'Hare had been looking for her father who had been excavating an ancient site when he'd disappeared. Unsure what exactly had happened to herself, she'd woken up to find herself staring at a beautiful but naked man who was toweling himself dry after a swim. A man claiming to be a god and telling her, "I know exactly what I'm doing. I know exactly what you want." Was she dreaming or had she hit her head on something? If she was/had, she wasn't sure she wanted to wake up or stop the hallucination. One touch, one kiss, however, made her see he was telling the truth. With her father's life potentially on the line can she keep him at bay and resist his charms long enough to find her father? That my dears is one of many questions.

Overall I gave this one 4 out 5 roses. This was a very well written novella that didn't feel rushed like so many short stories that I've read. I didn't feel lost even though I hadn't read the previous 3 books to the Accidentally Yours series. I felt I got a wonderful introduction to the world Mimi Pamfiloff has created, however, the novella ended with a huge cliffhanger that had me wondering what would happen next. So be forewarned--you'll probably be wanting to read the next book to find out how things will wrap up. On the Lisarenee Romance Rating Scale, this novella receives a STEAM rating--too hot for a fan, but you still have a handle on things. You should use extreme caution when reading a book with this rating in public. People may inquire as to why you looked flustered and flushed. If you haven't read any of Ms. Pamfiloff's books, this would be a great way to get a taste. A very fun and steamy series that would be perfect to read on the beach during the lazy days of summer.

Did it really all go wrong? Or did it go exactly according to plan? Looks as though our favorite do-badder is up to her usual antics. The question readers will be left hanging with is why.

Accidentally...Evil? answers more questions than readers even thought to ask. It has been assumes since book 1 that Chaam had been evil from the beginning, simply tired of his lot in life, as most of the other gods fans have come to know and love. Turns out we couldn't have been farther from the truth. And the reason for his descent will have not only readers in tears, but even el loco, Cimil. The reason for exuberance is also brought to light in this novella.

In this heart-wrenching, darkly hilarious novella, with a devastating ending, readers will fall madly in love with the most hated of all of the gods, as did his mate, Maggie. Though most novellas fail to give a believable love story in such few pages, that is not the case here. Both except what fate has lay before them. Only their happily ever after is very short lived.

Some may be tempted to skip this book, I strongly advise against doing so. It is a very important aspect to this series, and an extremely enjoyable read.

I don't know if the author wanted me to like the villan God Chaam from book 1 by giving him this gut wrenching back story. But forgive me if I don't immediately say "oh poor Chaam" and accept him as the product of his loss and grief. I cannot forget the evil he did; the raping and murdering of innocent women and fathering so many children whom he used for his selfish evil needs. No way, no how! And apparently Maggie was watching all this from wherever she was taken to, and she is still in love with him and fighting to save the little bit of soul left in him. Nice! I hate people who sympathize with the culprit and humanize him and give excuses for the way he turned out. And this whole story is an attempt at making the vile creature into a pitiful excuse to endear him to the reader for the plot. A good soul endures even amidst trials, even when the checks that keep you good are no longer present. A good soul fights with all that he/she has to fight until the end. Which Chaam did not. He bacame the vilest of the vile. And Maggie is turned into a pathetic, delusional female who is on love with the culprit, who excuses the man's misdeeds by blaming the circumstances, than the man himself. What a crock! Sorry but I can't digest this. Also, Cimil ... Evil...

21 year old Margaret O'Hare was was at the jungle of Mexico searching for his missing father who was obsessing over a tablet. She fell and met Chaam. He had a vision that they will make love that day. He had waiting for 70 thousand years for his mate. Both were virgins making love . The teardrop-shaped black stone she wears fell and he accused her of being part of the Maaskab and was sent to destroy her.
A moment later, he realized that there was no chance that Maggie was a Maaskab. Then, he found Maggie's father trying to kill a woman just to make sure he can bring her wife alive back. So Chaam snapped her father's neck. But Maggie was sucked into the portal.
He was willing to do anything just to get Maggie back. Cimil gave him two options 1) reopen the portal - which is next to impossible 2) let the darkness in his soul.
8 years later, Maggie heard a voice calling for the bobcat.. end. Cimil what have you done???? Hope the reason she turned him to evil are worth for greater goodness..

Despite the issues i have with the writing style, the pessimist in me liked this book. We are often blinded by love, assuming people we love are inherently good just because they were good when you first met.

Chaam was just the regular caveman when they first met. Honestly, he was better than niccolo, kinnich, narmer, and Voltan in that department.

Heres the bad part, it has a lot of spoilers

Before reading this book, I liked Cimil a little. But she should have fought for her brother, found another way to save them all.

3.5/5 stars. I'm not sure what it was but I found the book quite boring. Maybe it was because I haven't read the previous books or this book ended on a cliffhanger...but the book seemed to end when it finally got to a point where some sort of story started. Nothing was explained properly (again, perhaps it was explained in the previous book; I thought this was a standalone novella). Going into this really short book, I didn't expect a very deep story but even so it was quite disappointing. I thought this might be a short story of a side character but I guess not.
Perhaps once i read the other books i might revisit this one and look at this book differently.

What would you nickname the God of Male Virility? The Deity of Dick, of course! Oh my god. What a quirky, silly, fun read. I absolutely loved the writing in Accidentally...Evil? Laughed my ass off and just had a great time with it.

So, Accidentally...Evil? is just a taste of the series and sort of a look into the past on how two of the secondary characters met and what happened between them that turn a good god bad.

Chaam is the god of male virility and spends all his time making sure everyone else in the world gets a bit of sheet time (birds, bees, grasshoppers in love with ladybugs, you name it). But he hasn't been able to touch a woman in 70,000 years because of a pesky "if gods touch humans they damn near die" issue.
"I help males," he continued, "who have found their true love but have lost their way and are unable to take that next, all-important step. Sometimes it is fear of rejection or fear they will not please the woman, especially if it is his first time."

"But why do you only help men?" she said.

He gave her a "you-must-be-joking" look.

"What? It's a legitimate question."

"Because," he replied, "men are idiots."

Can't argue there.

Until he stumbles upon the very human and injured Maggie deep in the jungle and miracle of miracles can actually touch her without causing her life threatening pain. I loved these two. They're fun and entertaining, sexy and have a nice bit of chemistry going between them.

It was fun watching the two feel each other out, seeing Maggie finding out about gods and their crazy and falling for each other. Things do move quick but eh you know, he's a god of male virility, what do you expect?
Chaam took two wide steps forward and lifted her chin. "You are very cunning, Margaret O'Hare, but make no mistake, I am not the sort of god who enjoys playing games. When I return you will tell me everything- who and what you are--then we shall spend the evening making love."

Maggie's knees knocked, nearly causing her to fall over. "We will do no such thing!"

He leaned down. "Fine," his hot breath tickled her ear as he whispered, "then it will be hard, hot fucking. Your choice."

There's some really good drama there towards the end and yeah there's a total cliff hanger. These two, from what I've gathered, play a part in the other books in the series sort of as a secondary storyline maybe? Not 100% sure on that since I read out of order but that's the feeling I got from it. And theirs will continue on in the next book that way too.

If you're looking for a read that's a little bit silly, a little bit sexy and a whole lot of fun you need to pick Accidentally...Evil? up. It's an easy read and can be read without the rest of the series with no problems but I'd say go grab book one first. I'm off to pick up the other three now. Damn it was a funny one.
