Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

So concludes the first story arc after the time skip. By One Piece standards it's been a bit of a slump: it follows a saga of particularly epic and harrowing purport, and has the unenviable burden of possibly the single greatest hype in the series so far. The villains were impotent, and on the whole it spent more time setting things up for the future than creating a story for itself, its own sake. It has its moments, but overall it doesn't stand out for me.
But these arc endings are always good. Get done with the fights and climaxes and see how the rest of the world is doing. Set things up for the next arc. Hear of some world-shaking events with Blackbeard and the Marines, and pick a fight with an Emperor. And, finally, the entrance to the New World that is to be remembered. Storm and hellfire, what an introduction!
Sadly, I don't remember Punk Hazard being too much better than Fishman Island. But we'll see.
Wow... that was blew me away! Guess who's the real hero for save Fish-Man Island? Of course, Luffy! BUT surprisingly, Shirahoshi could 'call' Sea Kings and they're talking to her! WHAT? Oops spoiler alert! So, everyone's saved and the enemy has been defeated. Another surprise when Pekom and Tamago from Big Mom Pirates made appearance. Wow this is getting interesting :D So, Madam Shirley's premonition isn't that clear huh. Welcome to New World, everyone!
Aunque Whoke cake me gusta muchísimo animado 🤭💞

so long, fish-man island! off to the new world we go!!
to be honest, this arc has been a bit of slump and even tho i'm gonna miss characters like jimbei and shirahoshi, i'm happy it's over. now, let's see what punk hazard is all about!
A great ending to the Fishman Island arc. I really enjoyed how it all wrapped up and I’m very excited to see what ramifications the Straw Hats actions hold for them in the New World!
How the hell does the Sleeping Gas knocked out Brook? He doesn't even have lungs to begin with! Yo-ho-ho! 😹 I guess it's one of many unsolved mysteries of One Piece! You just have to roll with it.
FISHMAN ISLAND ARC - FINAL PART 1. so the mermaid princess is the ancient weapon 'poseidon'. three in total - pluton, uranus, poseidon. pluton used to be the warship, whose blueprints were burned down by franky; and uranus so far, no idea.
2. oh my god, i love finding out stuff alongside the pirates - like for example, that aokiji and akainu had a duel. for some reason, that speaks a lot to me in regards of storytelling, because while we are going alongside with luffy and the others, events are still developing in the back, which makes the entire world feel so real.
3. luffy can hear neptunians. just like gol d. roger - wowies
4. i'm impatient to meet kaido and big mom.
5. nevermind, i might not wanna meet big mom. she is like the old witch from spirited away
6. new log pose and new explanations about the magnetic field of islands!! yayayay love it 7. THE NEW WORLDDDDDDDD
The history of fishman island, the racism, and the longing for a better life under the sun were explained so well in this. I even feel like an evil character like Arlong kinda got his redemption. At least we can understand him better now. But the fights were honestly a bit boring. Nobody was really a threat to our beloved Strawhat Crew. Not that I want them to get hurt. Honestly they all deserve a fun, calm vacation for a while. ❤️
This was fun as Luffy and all finally stop the fishman island from being destroyed and Luffy is cured by using Jinebi's blood and their bonds are sealed and there is party all around and the latter is asked to join the Straw hats and the next part is about them finding a little about the void century cuz Robin and what she finds it is something, a good face off with Caribou and later with Big mom's men and Luffy declares war on her and it was so awesome and then they come to new world and up next: Punk hazard and what is waiting for them is dragon?! And whats happening with the rest of the crew on ship? Who are they?! Excellent arc and ending to this volume!
Took longer than necessary to read this volume, but this time a bit deliberately; I didn't start reading until later in the day, as I was doing some Sudoku puzzles online, and reading a novel someone lent me afterward.
The Fishman Island saga comes to an end, with a handful of chapters all taking place well after the defeat of the main boss, Hody Jones. As such, it doesn't really feel like Hody was too important overall, especially with the chapters in this volume focusing more on Jinbe, Neptune, and Shirahoshi. Hody ends up feeling like he was only there because shounen battle manga story arcs need... battles. All of his men were kinda shit as well, likewise existing just so the non-Luffy Straw Hats have something to show off against. I don't think Oda is willing to make a lengthy story arc without fight scenes, so this introduction to the New World, and the follow-up to Alabasta, Skypiea, and Enies Lobby's Poneglyph and stuff, needs to be padded out a bit with a crew of villainous jobbers. I mentioned in a review for a previous volume that Hody's purpose is mostly just to give Luffy a reason to show off new moves using Haki Hardening before he will formally invent a new Gear sometimes later. By extension, we do not see any other SHs use Haki, nor do we see the New Fishman Pirates use Haki, so I'm thinking this saga was set up in such a way as to continue the drip-feed of new lore, such that we'll probably get more Haki-user foes in Dressrosa or thereabouts, similar to how East Blue had so few enemy DF users to give room for Luffy to flex his own DF skills.
Something I found kinda interesting: Robin and Nami are basically just used for crowd-control against Hody's tens of thousands of faceless mooks. It's as though Oda wanted to give Omega Force more ideas for their Pirate Warriors games.

One Piece, Vol. 66 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (647–656) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon concludes the Fish-Man Island Arc and begins the next one. After Shirahoshi stops Mokey D. Luffy from destroying Noah, Jimbei gives his blood to a dying Luffy and tells the citizens that the law on Fishman Island is a farce. As Luffy recovers, Hordy Jones, Vander Decken, and the New Fishman Pirates are sent to jail and all charges against the Straw Hat Pirates are dropped and celebration ensues.
However, Caribou steals the kingdom's treasure and Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, and Sanji chase him and take it back. Afterwards, Luffy intercepts a call from Big Mom, one of the Four Emperors, to her henchmen and tells her that he ate the candy originally for her, and challenges Big Mom to a fight before giving the treasure to Big Mom in place of the candy to Nami's dismay.
Shirahoshi makes the Straw Hats promise to see her again before the Straw Hats and the Fishmen go their separate ways. Using a group of whales, Luffy and the others finally reach the New World. Over the Transponder Snail, a man asks for help before he is attacked. Reaching the burning island Punk Hazard, the Straw Hats go their separate ways to visit the island.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part it is written and constructed rather well. Two-thirds of the tankōbon concludes the Fish-Man Island story arc, which features the crew in their first major adventure after their two year separation. It is interesting to read how the Straw Hat Pirates have improved over the span of two years and how they now work together in their first major adventure.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 66 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
Fish Man Island is done with. Much of the volume was dealing with the aftermath of the Straw Hats’ fight with the New Fish Man Pirates which honestly I appreciated. We got some more lore about the Ancient Weapons (namely the current identity of “Poseidon”) as well as finally getting a peek at Big Mom. And as Luffy is wont to do (i.e., starting a fight with Blackbeard over Pie), Luffy decides to declare war on her/take her territory because he ate all of her promised Fish Man candy. I’m sure their confrontation in 20 volumes will be quite the story. Meanwhile back on Fish Man Island, I enjoyed how the Straw Hats were honored by the kingdom and by Jimbei. It was really sweet that Jimbei donated his blood to Luffy (while simultaneously denouncing the law that forbade that). I know Jimbei is inevitably going to join the crew, so it was a bit frustrating that he refused for the moment.
After leaving the island (finally) it was nice to see Smoker and Tashigi again for the first time post Time Skip which I appreciated (I remember when I thought they’d be the main Marine characters). I also liked seeing more of Laboon’s species and that they responded so well to Bink’s Brew (always nice to have that song make a return), I wonder if Oda will reveal it has more significance than initially thought (answer: probably).
With the crew split up at Punk Hazard at the volume’s end, I realized how much more I liked this volume than the last one. Looking forward to seeing the insanity of it all play out!
Volume 66: Chapter 647-656 Saga 7: Fishman Island Saga 8: Dressrosa Arc 25: Fishman Island Arc 26: Punk Hazard
Shirahoshi have the power to control the sea kings. She unconsciously summoned the sea kings to stop the Noah from falling and destroy the Fishmen Island. A promise to Joyboy still can be kept as the Noah is safe. Shirahoshi is one of the ancient weapon, Poseidon and have the ability to hear sea king's voice, Voices of All Things same like Luffy.
Post-battle, Luffy lost so much blood. Jinbei donated his blood to Luffy. There is a Fishmen Island's law that said that fishmen and merfolks were prohibited to share a blood with human.
During 2 years timeskip, Akainu and Aokiji have a fight to choose a Fleet Admiral of the Marine. Akainu win the fight and Aokiji left the Marine. Blackbeard was appointed as a Yonkou along with Shanks, Kaido and Big Mom. Blackbeard Pirates now hunting down a devil fruit user.
Straw Hat Pirates enters the New World. They arrived at Punk Hazard where they received a call from that island asking for help. Luffy, Zoro, Usopp and Robin go to the island as a scouting team. There, they find a hal body stuck on a dragon's head.
Gonna be so real, I would’ve given it 4 stars purely for smoker showing up and looking fine af. Mans didn’t need a glow up but he got one anyways, a scar and an undercut! Ugh who is he?! But what took away a star is Oda talking about the new breast sizes of Nami and Robin at the end of a chapter. Normally I ignore these but I saw that and I was like y’all wonder why we choose the bear in the woods
Thank goodness Fishman Island is over. I'm sorry, I don't enjoy that arc at all. I feel it is among the weakest. The ending scene with Big Mom is wonderful, though (The world-building info we get at the end of this volume is the only reason it gets a 4). This arc did not do it for me overall. I'm glad to be pushing on.
