When a group of fiercely determined friends realize their beloved hang-out is in danger of closing, they take matters into their own hands to bring back customers lost to a competing bar. Fighting fire with a heat of their own, they double down with the broad shoulders, six-pack abs, and bare chests of dozens of hot, local guys who they cajole, prod, and coerce into auditioning for a Man of the Month calendar.
But it’s not just the fate of the bar that’s at stake. Because as things heat up, each of the men meets his match in this sexy, flirty, and compelling binge-read romance series.
"With each novel featuring a favorite romance trope …[the Man of the Month] series hits the heart and soul of romance." New York Times bestselling author Carly Phillips
J. Kenner (aka Julie Kenner) is the New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, Wall Street Journal and #1 International bestselling author of over one hundred novels, novellas and short stories in a variety of genres.
Though known primarily for her award-winning and international bestselling erotic romances (including the Stark and Most Wanted series) that have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list, JK has been writing full time for over a decade in a variety of genres including paranormal and contemporary romance, “chicklit” suspense, urban fantasy, and paranormal mommy lit.
JK has been praised by Publishers Weekly as an author with a “flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations” and by RT Bookclub for having “cornered the market on sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swoon for them.” A six time finalist for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award, JK took home the first RITA trophy awarded in the category of erotic romance in 2014 for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy) and in 2017 for Wicked Dirty in the same category. Her Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series (as Julie Kenner) is currently in development as a television show.
Her books have sold over three million copies and are published in over twenty languages.
In her previous career as an attorney, JK worked as a clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced primarily civil, entertainment and First Amendment litigation in Los Angeles and Irvine, California, as well as in Austin, Texas. She currently lives in Central Texas, with her husband, two daughters, and two rather spastic cats.
I found this book discounted on Kobo via BookBub. Average 3.88 stars General: Editing needs another pass; there were several mistakes that should have been obvious to anyone editing this series. Enough that it distracted from the story. The trope about a father wanting "better" for his daughter comes back TOO OFTEN in the series. #01 Down On Me: Reece and Jenna 3stars. There were several places where I thought the conversations were super weird. Bad calls were made all over too. Did not enjoyed as much as the others. #02 Hold On Tight: Spencer and Brooke 4stars. TRIGGERS: date rape, etc. → there is justice, otherwise, it would have been 1star from me. The redeeming part is the lady finally putting her big panties on, ditches her father, and gets the guy. #03 Need You Now: Cameron and Mina 3.5stars. She's a wishy-washy kind of girl and I didn't care for her attitude. Cameron had points to make and did. Too many red flags in the story. I loved the relationship Kiki and Cameron have. #04 Start Me Up: Nolan and Shelby 4stars. I liked how Connor completely understood Shelby's reaction to Nolan's celebrity. I thought the interview was a bit unrealistic. #05 Get It On: Tyree and Eva 4.5stars. Dealing with guilt and grief. Elena had a big say in getting her parents back together but Eli was okay with that too. There's a bit of manipulation in the story. #06 In Your Eyes: Parker and Megan 3.5stars. Nothing exciting. Several eye rolls. Overreacting vs. logic. #07 Turn Me On: Derek and Amanda 4.25stars. Good story. Almost no drama. Believable. Funny mistake: putting on their shoes when they are aiming to take a shower... #08 Shake It Up: Landon and Taylor 4.5stars. Real suspense. Loved it. I just thought it was too easy to catch the bad guy and it was too easy for him to escape. #09 All Night Long: Easton and Selma 3.75stars. Case of opposites attract. It took me too long to like Selma. Many repeats. Funny how they kept track of each other in the last decade. #10 In Too Deep: Matthew and Hannah 3.5stars. I loved the couple but the manipulation from the parents is not solved yet and should have been. Hannah is bisexual. #11 Light My Fire: Griffin and Beverly 4stars. Not an easy subject but realistic. Here, there are 2 names that are the same as other people in the other books and are not related; it's like the author didn't even try. I'm a huge fan of Griffin. #12 Walk the Line: Brent and Elena 4stars. Good story, not too much drama. Wrap-up on the mystery, which was a piece of cake.
I absolutely adore this collection for the value and quality of each romance presented. The overarching narrative of saving a beloved bar from closure was a great way to tie each of the characters together and also allowed for a satisfying conclusion. Great job.
